Thanks for the videos! I can’t find this game in Canada and a direct order from compass would be very costly when factoring in shipping so, I’ll enjoy vicariously playing and learning the game through your plays. But that dice tower… :/ Maybe use smaller dice? Or a bigger dice tray or something?
From my admittedly brief read of the rules, I understood that the once the attacker confirmed that the roll was less than the total firepower brought to bear, then only those dice identified on the applicable battle board counted as hits (unless modified as backfires or bloodbath or due to trench effects, as applicable, none of which matter in your first attack as the Germans in clear terrain), so that in calculating the German hits, you would only count the three sixes (for 18), the two ones, because in clear terrain (for an additional 2), the two, because in clear terrain (for an additional 2), and the three, because there are no trenches (for an additional 3), while the three fives are misses, because not represented on the German section of the battle board, for a grand total of twenty-five (25) hits against the Belgians. As such, the totals can skew heavily in favor of defenders than attackers, especially when the relative firepower odds are fairly even. Am I reading that incorrectly?
Oops. My bad. Having now watched the rest of your video, I see that you identified the issue and calculated the attacker's hits in the second battle differently. Thank you!
No worries! I appreciate any and all corrections, and indeed I have another letter from the corrections department in my next video too. I should not have obliterated the French Army. Wes Erni clarified that in that situation I could spend reserves to do avoid obliteration . I think in hindsight I might have played a Krupps guns and rolled a few extra dice to make sure I cleared both the fort and the Belgian army.
