Some people might also need to accept they probably aren't ever going to clear their backlog. And that's fine. Just accept that fact and remember that you will always have a game you are interested in playing.
I used to feel like I absolutely had to finish a game on my backlog before removing it and moving on. But this year, I played several games in a row that I wasn't really enjoying and was forcing myself to get through them. I came to the realization that life is too short for me to be wasting what little free time I have on games that I don't enjoy. What's the point in playing a game if I'm not having fun? So games I'm not enjoying now get removed from the backlog.
If you need all your games on one system, sounds like you should become primarily a PC gamer 😉. Just exercise some patience, and everything comes to PC (in at least some form) in the end. I've been really good with not buying games I am not going to have time to play yet this year, instead boldy waiting till I do have time and they've probably gone on sale a few times. Space Marine 2, God of War Ragnarok (PC), Final Fantasy XVI (PC), Dragon Age 4, Sonic x Shadow Generations, Rita's Rewind, Diablo IV. Okay, so I might actually get Rita's Rewind, but it's the kind of thing you can probably play through in a day or two even with limited gaming time...but as for the rest, I've been very disciplined. The last new release I picked up was Dragon's Dogma 2 at the start of the year (which I played alot), and I haven't yet finished it since I got to a "point of no return" with one quest more to do before I pass that threshold, and well, that quest requires a huge repetitive grind...so I've stalled on it for now. For several months. Until I do though, hard to justify picking something else up. Certainly at full price. Resisting that FOMO has been hard though, _especially_ for Space Marine 2, considering as an avid RTS fan, I was one of those people that picked up Space Marine 1 when it first released (as it was made by Relic, the same people who made Dawn of War, which I also loved), and appreciated what a stellar game it was from the start...whereas for most of the rest of you, you overlooked it until years later, and it was instead a sleeper hit.
@@KotCR damn the point of no return thing is so real. I think that’s my issue right now with BG3. I was on it HEAVY but got stuck at one part and ended up buying Jedi Survivor on sale 😭 great job on the discipline tho 👍🏽
@@TipToeTino Haha I picked up Jedi Survivor on sale at the end of last year, fully intent on playing it (Fallen Order was amazing!), but I _still_ haven't got round to it. It is one I am looking forward too. I also feel you on BG3. Also didn't finish it, though I am right, right, right, right at the end; I kept meaning to pick it back up but I think that's when Dragon's Dogma 2 came around, and since where I got to where I got for that I've had very little time for gaming this year. I probably shouldn't have picked up DD2 till I finished BG3 either, but I had to get _something_ for myself for my birthday, and that was around the time DD2 was released.
@ i can’t really have a valid opinion on the games myself, since i haven’t played them, but from watching let’s plays, ragnarok seems like the better game
2024 in gaming sucked so bad (for me) so I didn't buy many games this year. Instead I went back to my backlog and beat a good chunk of games from my backlog: AC Syndicate, Asura Wrath, Dragon Quest 11, World of Final Fantasy, Spongebob Battle of Bikini Bottom, Nier Replicant and Triangle Stratetgy. And that's alongside games I've bought this year such as Another Code, FF Crisis Core, GOW Ragnarok,
Its easier for someone who doesnt care about competitive and story to finish a backlog. I gotta admit that I do have alot of shoot em ups that havent been conquered.
I agree! At one point I was dropping games down to easy just to speed through them but even then, some of those titles got pushed to the side and forgotten 😭
@TipToeTino I even did hard drops on games that are considered good such as Phantom Brave and Ys Oath in Felghana. Just to keep some of my sanity, hehehe.
I have 100+ fantastic games on Steam and Epic and GoG that I haven't even touched yet. And over 100 Warhammer miniatures that I haven't painted yet. And a bunch of Manga that I bought but didn't read yet. Don't get me started on all the comic bundles that I bought on Humble. Only way to clear my backlog is by being granted immortality. There's no chance that I can finish all of this in my remaining time on this forsaken planet.
Tbh Fist of the North Star is a pretty lame pice of fecal matter. As a diehard hokuto no ken fan, I could not wait to sink my teeth on this game from the first time I've played the demo. History-whise : The battle with Shin plays out (almost) just like the good ol' anime adaptation, including major dialogue points that happen amidst the fight. You can even go full blast "death Star mode" to deliver the homeric ass whopping that Shin so rightfuly deserved! But the cannon stops there. From that point on, the game takes a totally different, brand New story, with different characters, conflicts and events for the protagonist to tackle, that are dumb and repetitive. The game gets really tiresome after 6-ish hours of playing. About gameplay: The yakuza style gameplay ( you can even play as Kyriu if you want) is fun tbh The gore is surprisingly fun to watch and the combos play out nicely. As the Savior of the end of the century, you have lots of options of kombo strings that you mix/match to your own gameplay style along with a generous ammount of unique skills transported right from the manga pages for you to learn, use and even collect and see in an album (trophy alert). Also, there is an enormous ammout of content to tackle in the free roam mode(semy openworld), ranging from baseball with goons to bartending in the City. You can craft, coock, gather stuff and equip gear to the main character, giving the game some mild rpg flavoring. But, then again, the story being so blatant and different from the manga/anime, hard not to feel disapointed with the game's narrative. My piece(of shit) of advice is: buy for the gameplay, not the story.
