I was expecting a half effort job with this game, but it turns out it's a fun spin on the formula. It's a very good thing this game came out on PS+ day 1

Legit when I open the game, I played it for six hours nonstop with the same group of people and it was so fun
Same it give me vibes of the old school cod lobbies where you make friends and build bonds
The fact that we’re getting a death note game in 2024 feels unreal, but I’m all for it. Normally I would have no idea what kind of game they would make it except for a story focused single player game like life is strange, but something similar to among us fits perfectly

Konami made an entirely original story type game for Death Note called L , The prologue to Death Note ; Spiraling Trap which is basically a more thinking centered game which contains an entirely original (but not canon) story
Death Note is peak fiction! One of those classics that holds up to the end of time
I agree. Death Note and Attack on Titan are endlessly rewatchable to me.
Some may say those are basic choices but there is a reason they are so popular.

I saw it for the first time 2-3 years ago and I was glued to the TV
I would love a persona style game for death note. As in being able to form bonds and have a social connection while investigating a new killer set after the events of the anime. Meanwhile the killer is one of the people you can hang out with that you don’t find out about until close to the end.
This is one of my dreams as a gamer

It's not really like among us.
Some differences
Kira can kill out of sight The only clear giveaway is the notebook being open.
The villians can fill their own tasks
L can prove innocent And has more control during voting.
Kira can pass to an ally if caught.
Kira can be selected and still not be caught if investigated by his follower.
The follower can be jailed if caught with a stolen ID.
Voting wrong gives Kira the ability to kill the person voted.
I don't see people doing more tasks as the Investigators but there's probably more L powers to help.
Unlike in among us you want people bunched together.
You can pick up the items of dead Investigators to find out who they marked as sus.
Kira by default can only kill 2 Investigators a round.
L being killed is game over.
5:25 uuhm...Deathnote fans sounding like a MW2 lobby is maybe the LEAST surprising thing about this game.
I honestly really like this game so far, it's really fun and I went in with pretty meh expectations despite being a big Death Note fan

Genuinely insane for Bandai Namco to implement a leaver's penalty which works AFTER you've been eliminated from the game, when they couldn't even make a proper ragequit penalty in Ultimate Ninja Storm for a decade. I mean, maybe the publisher doesn't have control over such specific features, but still, I found the contrast funny.
Similarly to among us this game is very lobby dependent. My first lobby was amazing. All calm adults just playing semi seriously.
My second lobby was children screaming and I couldn't hear anyone
Third lobby was only 2 mics and a bunch of silent people. They didn't even use the text...
Absolutely love this game though. Aleady have a little too many hours in it
They need to have a forced mic check b4 entering a lobby

Matty, I am with you. Death Note just completely consumed me and I agree...gotta be one of, if not the best cat/mouse story out there. There is SO much to love about the series, both the anime and manga. And THANK YOU for mentioning the soundtrack specifically. There's just no other way to say it....that music is god tier level, especially the post-rock main theme.
I could be very biased to someone who loves among us and putting many hours into it and still plays it till this day. I think this is a fantastic game and a great way for them to test other things beside fighting games honestly if you grab the right amount of people I was able to play in one lobby with strangers and nobody left. Everyone had the same energy people are trying to teach each other how to be better and I really got into character.

This game came out pretty fast from announcement to release I didn’t even know it was about to come out. Pretty interesting concept but idk what I really think about it it’s not my style of game. I would have really liked a cool story focused visual novel with choices you can make that can lead down different paths and endings. It is cool that Bandai is actually trying a different type of style of game besides average arena fighter copy paste gameplay.

Nah it's perfect
it is near perfect. loved the first half, loved the second half and loved the ending. i think the second half should've had a few more episodes because the pacing was a bit fast but other than that it was perfect to me

Death Note gets a lot of criticism and hate nowadays but back in 2007 there was not much else like it, and above all else it was a fun ride. I even read the prequel novel and the alternate timeline novel. I really do hope we get more Death Note games. I totally agree a visual novel style game would be great, I seriously wanted those DS games in English when I was a kid.
I'm gonna check this one out, it seems like a great game to play with friends!

Death Note is God Tier, I was hoping for this to be a visual novel in the universe but oh well .

If you haven't read it you should read the one shot sequel to death note its very good and you can see what effects the death note had on the world

You should check detailed settings when your a room host.theres a lot of changes you can make like amount of tasks a investigator can have, amount of joint opportunities L can cause or notes Kira can make, making the id prompt not be there or quicken or slow how long you need to be near someone to get the id + other stuff.
Death Note is amazing, but it's kind of weird to see someone say they wouldn't change ANYTHING about it. I mean after the death of L, it clearly tried to capture the same magic of an eccentric character they had with L, but only succeeding to a certain extent
After completing the tutorial and got into a mic'd up lobby, I played for like 3 hours or so in they lobby. It was so much fun and funny

I have no connection to Death Note but I’ve been loving this. A bit more complex than Among Us and the community is fun
If you have a PS5…download the PS4 version. On PS5 there are major hard game crashes that happen very frequently. I had to switch versions to not have a crash every other game during peek player hours and worst part is there is no cross progression so I had to start a fully new file downgrading to the more stable PS4 version…or just play on PC.
I would so love a Zero Escape style Death Note visual novel style game, that would be awesome.

I've been mired by connection issues. The game keeps crashing when I get in a game. I don't think people are leaving, I think they have an issue with the servers
One big issue with game. If there is a spectator who is party chatting with a participant. He can view what all other players are doing and guide or snitch on who has the deathnote book

I get it that people find this game confusing and complex but for me i think i love they way at it is it was actually really fun the issue were just when one players left the game the game ended which is frustrating when you are really locked in thats the only issue i have and i hope they put more map in this game those two are my only wishes for this but anything else is amazing for me
I really love death note, this is not the game I was expecting from it. (I wanted a visual novel style game wherein you can make choices as kira to move the story in a different direction compared to the canon) but a game is still a game. I'll support it by buying it and hopefully we get a good one in the future.
that type of multiple choices visual novel where you have to keep your identity a secret against L would have been insanely fun

Honestly I don’t think people are rage quitting. My game has been having constant crashes in the middle of matches and others have said the same. I feel like after the next patch or two the number of leavers will go down

The game being too predictable only works if the players are still pretty new. L specifically has to ignore most of the tasks to stay safe so there's more of an added layer to if it's L or Kira that's ignoring the events
Do you prefer the anime or the manga? I saw the anime first, then years later read the manga and rewatched the anime. Personally I think the manga is better.
If your thinking of getting this game don't. Its half baked and broken. I installed and it wasn't playing any audio. so i uninstalled and reinstalled and it stared working, but now the game wont let me switch to headphone/mic in setting so its literally unplayable for me without mic. I can even get a stable install let alone play the game. I'm getting my money back.

death note is amazing dont get me wrong but seriously after Ls passing there was a massive drop in quality . Ls shoes were just too large to fill and having near which tries and mimic L isnt really helping although the other one mello i think is better since hes actually different

@ they did but those games were half assed at best imo . The ARPG was so repetitive even for its time . Although I do remember spending hours playing it it wasn’t great and obviously I would be referring to potential for a new game with current graphics and gameplay innovations

I think one thing they could do is give the investigation team some disadvantage as the game progresses. As more followers of Kira grows, they disrupt the normal workings of society, so it could take longer to finish tasks and talk to npcs or something
