It is 2 :33 am and here I am trying to fix my brother SE-400 that I haven’t used in about 5 years 😢, the good news is that I was able to raise the feeding dogs. I’m so glad that I didn’t have to take it anywhere to get it fixed. Thank you so much for up loading this video, I’m a so happy that I can start sewing again. 🙂
Even though I couldn’t see the black piece hanging, I figured it out. I’m a do-it-yourselfer so I REALLY appreciate your videos. It’s given me confidence to manage my own machine. Thanks!
Thank you for uploading this. I just got my machine last week, did something wrong and my feed dogs got stuck down. Doing that "manual reset" was a lot cheaper than going to a Brother Authorized Repair Center.
Thank you so much for this video! I was going crazy trying to figure out why my feed dog wasn't moving my fabric for me. This simple trick fixed it for me! I didn't have to take my machine apart, I just had to move the back knob over and pull the feed dog up for it to work properly.
Thank you! I have been trying to take my machine apart for days! I had the exact same problem with a brother lb-6800 which is a really similar model to this machine. I was so happy just to get the case open!
The thread arm.....don't know what it's called......the arm that goes up and down. Anyway was cleaning with brush and came across what appeared to be a knotted mess . I worked and got it out and discovered it must be a brush of some sort not meant to be removed. What do I do?
I see this is a yr ago. Not sure if you are still working on the SE400. My machine has started doing a F05 speed sensor error and I have to turn the machine off to get it going again. I than loose my embroidery pattern I'm doing. Any suggestions? Thank you for your great video on cleaning
Are you still around. This was great help for getting my machine cleaned and oiled and it sounds fantastic now. However, the feed dogs won’t raise and lower and I found a black rubber wheel- about 3/8” in diameter and 1/4” thick that looks like a spacer or something.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve been fighting with tension issues on my se425 for weeks now. Could figure out how to get in to clean the tension disc. I also had a part fall out and I have no idea where it goes. Are you able to advise if I send a photo of the part please. Karen
I finally fixed my sewing machine watching this. I don't know what exactly I fixed but works now lol. It was really hard to take apart the main covers. I think I snapped a piece of plastic while I was taking it apart. :( but yay it works now! Thank you so much for the video!
I couldn’t see “the little black thing hanging out” that you spoke of. Very frustrating when I have the exact same machine with the exact same problem!
Wayne Kaa Yes, after finally getting it apart. I live in a town where the only sewing machine repair place apparently was forced to close because they’re no longer there. Now I’ve put the dang thing all back together again and won’t be taking it apart. I hardly ever sew on it and this SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE! Let this be a warning to anyone thinking of buying this machine.
@@valsedonia Did you see the white lever with the "cup" that's below the feed dogs? Also from the back view. I wish I could just tweak it for you but alas gotta try explaining it.
Wayne Kaa No, sorry. I appreciate your responding to me this way..I really do. Maybe in a few days I’ll try again and hopefully I’ll have better luck. I barely got it back together the other day, drove it to the sew and vac only to find it deserted! So, I’ll try again in a few days when I’m prepared for another challenge and hopefully I’ll be able to message you again. Thank you.
Hi! I'm repairing my moms older se350, which is similar. I really only service vintage/antiques, so the plastic is killing me. How the heck does that bottom white piece of plastic come out? Is it a wiggle, tabs? Merci!
How would I fix the knob I press to plunge the needle threader down? I tried glue which worked for a while if I plunged slowly but it just broke again-Thank you-
@@waynekaa oh my - sorry I meant to get back to you- but my MS brain got forgetful - thread was getting wound to bobbin - it slipped and wound down in to machine around spool/ I used a thread cutter and pliers and got the thread out/I’m not sure how to attach photo- the location is on top of Brother SE-400 far right- where you load empty bobbin with thread- I do not know how to stop this from happening again other than go real slow and keep my eyes on the bobbin. Thanks for responding ❤️
Usually this happens because something is jamming your reverse stitch button, so cleaning it out might help fix that. th-cam.com/video/ojBG4dFuZyY/w-d-xo.html
This is exactly what I'm trying to fix on my Brother CS7000X, but can't get the middle apart and don't want to break the plastic 😭 I have taken every screw out that I can see and loosened all of the clips. It comes apart everywhere except under the arm (to the right of the needle plate). No one has videos on the model that I have! Please, someone do a video for the CS7000X or link one showing the disassembly! I'm desperate!
I had a broken thread spool and my husband took the machine apart but a piece fell out and we don’t know where it goes ,how can I send you a picture to tell me where it goes please
hi, I have a Brother SE-400 emroidery machine. The machine is giving me a error code "F05 speed sensor". Do you happen to know how to fix that? Thank you
I’m having the same issue & all I find on the internet is take to get service🙄ya right. I think if you take it apart like he did & clean/oil it properly it should work. I found a video of a guy talking about the sensor issue & he mentions those wheels on like the left side on the bottom of the machine when you take it apart but it was in spanish so I couldn’t really follow ha
I have a question for the community, I took my brother se 400 in for repair and was told that it had a broken take up lever shaft and that it couldn't be fixed. The repair person was not very forth coming with information. Does anyone know why this would be unrepairable?
That sounds like an unusual reason to have a broken machine, the machine would have needed to take a significant hit to break that. It's probably repairable, the repair person either didn't want to do it, or he would charge more than the cost of a new machine to repair it
Thank you for sharing this! I kept wondering how I was going to get that plate off because a regular philip head screw driver wouldn’t work. Who would’ve thought to use a quarter! Great improvising! Appreciate this video!

Let me know how it goes!

I could give it a shot! It really shouldn't be too different from this model
waynekaa thank you , I downloaded a parts booklet and managed to find the correct placement.
YES!!! Those dang plastic clips were what had me stumped! I thought there were hidden screws! Thank you!!
It's not obvious at all! Probably because they don't want you taking the machine apart haha

If I Have An Se600 Same Issue Can This Work Also?
How do I fix the embroidery unit? The arm doesn’t move and I cannot find a new unit
Solved my feed dog issue!! Thank you so much

Thank you for this video. I was able to manually reset my feed dogs!
How did you assemble the threading area. My skinny piece ( step 4 and 5 ) was taken out. How do I put it back in?
Oh that skinny plastic panel? It snaps into the metal skinny panel on the machine, you'll see that it lines up
Thanks, My wife had similar issue with Brother HC1850 and this tricked helped her.
I have a Brother hs 2500 the feeds is feeding the opposite direction. Have you ever fixed brother 2500 model.
I have not fixed this exact model, did someone else try fixing it before and messed up the feed gear?
No, its been in storage for some time. Went to use it and it started feeding backwards.
@@MJKcakes Sounds like your reverse lever is doing something wrong (i.e. constantly on)

Is it this model?
hi, I have a Brother SE-400 emroidery machine. The machine is giving me a error code "F05 speed sensor". Do you happen to know how to fix that? Thank you
Have you cleaned and re-oiled the machine? Usually you get that error if the machine is too dirty and it's messing up the sensor.

I had this same problem but now my issue is it wont sew. It just wants to break needles and get caught with the bobbin area
Were you able to fix this issue the easy way (the switch) or the hard way (with opening it up)
@@waynekaa i did just a few hours ago! The bobbin piece wasnt in correctly and i kept having to tweak it and now it sews like a dream!
how do i fix the thread is bounding up on the side of the bobbin

Yes that is exactly what I needed to know. Thanks so much

This is an error on a Brother SE400 right? You probably have debris near your speed sensor so I'd give it a good cleaning
I want to slightly open mine so I can actually paint the body and cover up the insides beforehand
Oh to get all the overlapping parts?
@@waynekaa No, to paint the machine black to look more retro, but I want to protect the crucial inner workings

Would have been useful to show where ALL of the screws are so it can be opened. This is pretty useless.
thanks for the feedback! I'll consider filming that in a later video after I get my hands on a tripod
That clanking noise when sewing is not normal.
