This was a great review! Using the released vampire as a recurring villain is brilliant! This makes we want to covert this module and use it in my DW game.
This is exactly what I need, a short walkthrough that helped me get the big idea of an published adventure, so I can prepare it with a something already in my mind. Thanks a lot!
I've been looking for quality content of this kind - fun and informative walkthroughs of modules for inspirational purposes. I was introduced to the concept by DM it all and now your channel joined in my list of "most excited for uploads" :) The party point of view is great, the aesthetic you created by bordering the images work well for cohesion of visuals and I really enjoyed your accent as a fun quirk to your videos.
This is a great video for DMs looking for an explainer for this adventure! I am homebrewing our own twist with this adventure, but your details really make it a lot easier
I'm about to start taking my players to the Citadel as a first-time DM. Out session 0/1 was introducing Oakhurst and in 2 nights, they're heading off to the main quest. This video has been brilliantly helpful! Thank you so much! :D
Loved your narration and chosen topic. Thanks! One think I'd like to see more details on would be possible paths the characters might take, like what happens if they battle the kobolds, what happens if they try to join Belak, etc.
So this was the first dnd adventure I ever played (a druid who was killed when I was critted by the thaqua while wearing wooden armor). Now I'm planning on introducing some friends to dnd and thought I'd run it for them. While normally when I run modules I make a lot of edits but as I read through this again I realized this is actually a perfect adventure. It's not the best or most interesting and emotionally compelling but it just has zero problems.
Beautiful walkthrough for new DM’s. Thank you! Now I just have to figure out where to put my Beholder that takes away the DMPC so after the first part of the campaign the PC’s are on their own
Thanks a lot! When I finish the videos on the pipeline, I might delve into specific groups and how their stories progressed on the different adventures I run them. We will see, so many videos to do, so little time :(
As somebody considering running this for my players, this a good summary run through of things. A nice cap to rereading the adventure to get a sense of how things might go.
In my playthru, my PCs were smart enough to dig up the vampire and cut off his head after defeating the Gulthias Tree. I wish they did not, so that I could have had a recurring vampire antagonist as you had.
Just finished running this as a one-shot for my party since a few of them are missing for our CoS campaign. They managed to trigger every trap in this dungeon and just got TPK’d by Belak.
I have been looking for a way to introduce a vampire NPC to my campaign! And I just so happen to have a strange flower that the PCs are very interested in.
Fantastic video and very informative to me as a first time DM. Thank you so much for what you do! Will you tackle the rest of yawning portal at some point?
I am really glad that it helped you! Mission accomplished! I might do the forge of fury since it is on the same path as the citadel and the standing stone but probably after I finish some other paths that I have in mind. Stay tuned!
Great walkthrough! …and you're quite right: There should be more… and I've still more to watch!! Makes Sunless Citadel an attractive module to run - in Savage Pathfinder for me, I think A happy find. Many Thanks
I read that this is meant to be a lvl 1 adventure. But isn't it too long for lvl 1 characters? I want to run it but im afraid a beginner party wont survive. What if i let them start at lvl 3 for more class traits, spells and hp, or would it trivialize the adventure too much?
Did you mention in the video the number of rests they took and if they leveled in the adventure? I've run LMoP, and that's about it so far so I'm wondering how often most groups rest.
They are lvling up during the adventure. But as far as the resting goes it is not depending on the adventure,it is up to the game master. If you want to run a more hard adventure you can easily establish that resting is a difficult task and your players should work hard for it. If you want to cut your players some slack, there are plenty of safe places they can use as a resting point. But again that is up to you.
Oh boy! The can of worms called Underdark! If I delve into its darkness I bet not even Lolth can spare my soul...noted for sure!( even if I have only finished the first book back in the day)
It would be a really not accurate number. Its been so many years and we used to play weekly games of 8 or more hours back then. Some times we even did weekend sessions that we would be on the same house for a couple of days and played almost non stop... Those were the days! But again no estimation of mine can be true. Each game master has a different style and might hack through all of it in a months time or take your time and go for a food 4 to 5 months with weekly games. Its all relevant.
I would say that it goes to the short adventures in its core. With weekly 4 hour games within a month o 2 tops you have it. Is the payers are experienced with 4 to 6 sessions i think you can pull it off. But don't quote me on that heh just an estimated guess for a rough nunber.
Great concept and execution! I was going to watch an actual play but this was even better! ❤ please less flashing for photosensitive viewers. I couldn't watch most of it and had to just listen instead.
I was so sad when Meepo died. In our group, 25 years ago under 3.0 rules, we had an evil campaign and we played this module. It went basically “normal” like a typical good aligned party as far as combat and story hooks (we needed money to take over the world). We made an alliance with the kobolds. Meepo became very attached to my half-orc barbarian character and I taught him how to be a barbarian and use rage and anger to solve the issues with the goblins. We used chaos and brute force and turned the goblins into slaves. Any resistance was met by turning them into zombies from our necromancer (our priestess of Bane had to preserve the bodies (some level 0 or 1 spell) for a few weeks for the necromancer (wizard with feats from Book of Vile Darkness) to get and sending them back into the goblin group as a reminder not to act up. We left the tree alive and sold the fruit to the villagers (Summer/spring fruit for a 10x markup). The dungeon became our first lair until we made the villagers of Oakenhurst (I think that was the name) too angry. We kept ripping them off and raiding the graveyards for bodies/spare parts. Adventurers came but we used our kobold, goblin and undead army to repel them. With our army devastated, only us and the kobolds survived. We eventually left for bigger badder things and left the kobolds in charge. Meepo continued with us and helped rebuild our undead army. We seeked out goblin and orc tribes to destroy and convert. We made the world better and safer but with questionable tactics. Eventually we pitted nations into destroying each other (we planted fake evidence). Meepo became a level 6 barbarian before we stopped the campaign because of busy lives. The party was a half-orc barbarian, necromancer (wizard variant with skeleton familiar instead of an animal), priestess of Bane and an assassin.
Lool I've played that book just recently and played a goblin rogue. And then you come and say that goblins are dwelling this citadel and show the image of my character 😂

Best GM tip, kick your own arse for buying this shite. There are a lot of very diverse people writing good adventures for D&D and OSR. Apparently none of them work at Wizards.
I really like the walkthrough as if we follow the party. It's like a really good summary of a adventure. Really nice video!
I am glad you enjoyed it.
Playing in your table must be a whole experience. Nice content man!
Thanks for the kind words. I am glad you enjoyed it!
What a great idea... I normally do a crapload of reading on forums for how DMs run games, Reddit for additional handouts etc. Subbed.
This was a great review! Using the released vampire as a recurring villain is brilliant!

My brain has a LOT of trouble paying attention through the music, but this seems very interesting! Thank you for running through it
Thanks, yeah my first videos has music a bit more high than it should be, I think the later ones are better on that aspect. Still learning :P
Just discovered this, running the module for the Tales of the Yawning Portal. Very well done, very useful.
Down the memory lane... Great quality! We anticipate your future videos!
Much appreciated!
As a new DM this was an amazing guide and sketch for a start! Thanks for all the tips
Glad you enjoyed it!

So helpful for this module. Awesome work. I love the following the party token on the map. Makes it so clear and easy to get the dungeon down.

My very first adventure 😍😍😍 I used to play around 13-14 years old with my childhood friends
I am getting ready to run this tomorrow. I love the idea at the end. It is fabulous. Thank you
What a treat it was to listen to your masterful telling of this adventure!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it.

Fucking loved it bruh
Good shit
Love it when the party accidentally sets up their own most dangerous long term rival
I really liked your video! Great eloquence and storytelling, you must be a great DM to have at the table. Keep up the great work!
Ahhh you make me blush!! Thanks so much for the kind words!
What a great walk through! Just started playing this now as a DM and found this super helpful! Thanks so much!
Beautiful walkthrough for new DM’s. Thank you! Now I just have to figure out where to put my Beholder that takes away the DMPC so after the first part of the campaign the PC’s are on their own
Thank you for making this, it is helping me prepare as a new DM. Also, your voice is really nice!
You are very welcome. Thanks again!
Originally I came here to get an idea on prepping this adventure. Now I'm about to follow your group to see what happens next! Great video.
Thanks a lot! When I finish the videos on the pipeline, I might delve into specific groups and how their stories progressed on the different adventures I run them. We will see, so many videos to do, so little time :(

Haha nice, every group have their own ways. I enjoy them all just as long as they are having fun.
This is such an awesome idea, thanks!
One of the best vids on a module i seen
Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it
Really great video, only just found youe channel will definitely be watching more!
In the final stages if running this adventure. What a great overview. Well done!
Thanks a lot good sir!
Great video! Can’t wait to watch the rest!
Thanks a lot! Now I only need to choose the next one! Tick tock...

Awesome video man! Thanks, loved it, you gave me tons of ideas for this. Instant subscribe!
This was great. You are a talented narrator.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate your kind words.
Didn't know this was narrated by Brynjolf from Riften. I might be joining the thieves guild now...
Anther great video. Hearing a campaign summarized like this makes it seem less daunting to run.
That was the plan! I am glad I managed to pass it through!
This was amazing, thank you so much! It’s my first campaign and this is so so so helpful!
Glad it helped!
I am in the exact same situation
Great coverage and some nice ideas for this and other adventures!
Thanks a lot.
Nice turn of events at the end!! Well done
Thanks!
very cool way of talking about adventures
Excellent video.

You are very welcome! Glad you like it.
Very well done!
Where did you get that amazing border art?
Great walkthrough! …and you're quite right: There should be more… and I've still more to watch!!
Makes Sunless Citadel an attractive module to run - in Savage Pathfinder for me, I think
A happy find. Many Thanks
Thank you

Glad it helped you ;)
Love your content
I'm about to run this module on Foundry VTT. Wish me luck!
You will be just fine! You are researching the adventure so thats half the battle! Go give your players an awesome time!
Great video! Can't wait to watch the next ones! =)
Thanks so much! More are on the way!!

Nice iam a new dm and my players are gonna do the sunless citadel . What the party did with the dragon ? Just ignore him?
i guess when i will run this adventure i will try to google a realistic map of a middle age keep/castle ... the map totally makes no sense for me xD

Amazing! Thanx
Glad you like it!
I like this video!!! :)
You're voice sounds so incredibly familiar, do you have another TH-cam channel?
Nope, just this one for the time being :)
Could you let me know how many sessions you ran it in? as in, five 3 hour sessions or more?

Thanks! The flashing was really bad on the first couple of videos. On the following ones I deducted it. Still learning heh.
@@RpgLoremaster not a problem! Just wanted to give some feedback because I plan to keep on watching your vids! 😀

That's an awesome story, really fun to hear about a group going all evil in there! Thanks for taking the time to share.
How long did take to run the role adventure?
Depends on your style of play. I would say 3-4 three hours sessions are enough to run through it.
Lool I've played that book just recently and played a goblin rogue. And then you come and say that goblins are dwelling this citadel and show the image of my character 😂
