    Big fan of the Forge of Fury. Somebody can fall from 120' in clear air and survive? Must be 5E. The speed you hit at and the damage you take from a fall is going to increase exponentially. Ten feet is 1d6, twenty is 3d6, thirty is 7d6 forty is 15d6, fifty is 31d6 and that's basically it. You need to be able to touch a surface or have something with you to act as a parachute to get any type of dex saving throw.

    I love how this adventure could very easily end with the players not knowing the truth, reading over the hints as a DM might make it obvious but to the players they might just assume "job well done" and move on. It opens the opportunity for the party to deal with the consequences later, as mentioned in this video.

    I have literally never even heard of this adventure, but looks fun. Loving these walk-through videos.

      Ahh I am glad you like em! Definitely have a look at it, especially if you are a game master. Really amazing layout from the designers.

    Damn, sounds like a nice adventure. For sure I'm gonna add a copy to my collection.

    In modern D&D, it would be such a dick move for the enemy to literally lift the player 120 feet in the air haha. This sounds like a fun adventure though. Love the plot twist.

    • @RpgLoremaster
      @RpgLoremaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahah indeed! Old school D&D had a million things like that. Things that by today's standards are such a lousy move! But still then we were excited as hell to face a creature that could do something unexpected and radical as that. Wait till you see the next adventure I am preparing. It had written in it to do 1d100 damage if a player walked into a specific place...1...D.....100.... Unreal hah fun times :P (2nd edition adventure that is !)

    RPG Loremaster, Really like your videos. Hope you fill in the gap between the "Sunless Citadel" and the "Standing Stone" Adventures (i.e. would love to hear your take on "The Forge Of Fury" and "Speaker In Dreams" [I also need to do videos on those two Adventures]).

    • @RpgLoremaster
      @RpgLoremaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! I need to get on with Forge and Speaker too, they were fun adventures as well. Sooner rather later I hope!

      @edc5378 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you have tip for the speaker in dreams? Im runing it for the first time now and it just seems wierd. ratfolk that attack for no reason and the cult that just want to be quote: "mindless minions" seems like wierd villans if not laughable.

    • @RpgLoremaster
      @RpgLoremaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hahaha I do remember that the adventure had a plethora of monsters that really seemed weird together, the mind flayer behind it all, devils' (?) which always bothered me because we all know devils and their devotion... i do remember that I took my time to find a common line among them all, linking the cult with the wererats etc . Played up the intelligence of the the mind flayer to rebuild a new empire for the illithids by not making his moves as obvious as the adventure describes them. Generally I remember the group had fun with it but if I wont go to my notes to start remembering details this vague of an answer is the only one I can give I am afraid . Plus that the assassination scene in the beginning was and amazing encounter for the group, that much I remember.

    This is one of my favourite adventures, ran it 4 times. It has a problem with the CR of some encounters but overall great story.

    • @RpgLoremaster
      @RpgLoremaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does need some caution on the CRs of the encounters indeed, but nothing too complicated that on the fly adjustments cannot deal with. Among my favorite as well.

    • @edc5378
      @edc5378 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RpgLoremaster Well I guess you could do it on the fly but I wouldn't recommend it to new DM. Changing a cr 13 to a cr 9 is a big deal.
      By the way did you run the maze to the warlord? It seemed annoying so I made a small dungen with a couple riddles instead.

    • @RpgLoremaster
      @RpgLoremaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah you are right, meddling with CRs should be done by game masters that have some experience in the hot seat, important to be noted here too. The maze was indeed kind of annoying, I remember playing up the earth elementals and adding some traps here and there to make their lives miserable :P . Those years of gaming I used to let them draw the dungeons as they were traversing it. So when I was realizing they were too lost, or bored with the whole maze thing, I simply led them to the entrance. Now probably I would use a simpler dungeon myself since I like using tiles for their encounters.

  • @BerserkerBryan

    Is there anyway for the players to learn the truth during the adventure?

    • @RpgLoremaster
      @RpgLoremaster  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are small bread crumbs here and there, the players can follow to find out about the behind the scene plot. The game master can add many more little ones as well to give a better chance of it happen. It all breaks down to how much effort your players will give to investigate the situation.

      Exactly, some old adventuires are pure gold and you can get them for almost nothing nowadays. And I got to admit modding them to 5e is not that hard of a task tbh. Have fun with it!
