I literally have 10minutes for four pages
It's easy to write 5 pages in that amount of time but when there's research involved and you need to use academic journals as sources, it takes wayyyyy longer (20 page paper took me 24hrs total to write)

But my professors would automatically give me 0 and accuse me of plagiarism if I use a writing service to do my work 😞 Plus I wouldn't feel as proud knowing that someone else did the work for me.

When English is your first language, it's not as hard. My American husband and I are both in college. Writing a 3 page paper for him only takes less than 2 hours while it would take me about 2-3 days to get my thoughts together and write it. English is my 3rd language and speaking it and writing at a college level is completely different.

I have 2 classes left before getting my bachelor's degree so I'm really almost there. I just keep saying to myself, just one class at a time and one assignment at a time to help me push through. I figured out how to use the voice to text in my senior year of high school due to elbow tendonitis turned chronic cubital tunnel syndrome in both arms and I couldn't type but I never thought to use it for writing an essay now in uni! Thanks for this video!! :)

They gave me the structure to set up a template and now I can just go fill it in. SO helpful for me. Now I am not looking at my paper with anxiety and overwhem, I'm actually excited about it!

Like many others in the comments, I also saw your first video. It really did help save a lot of time. Thank you, Eleanor! I'm also a grad student, so I appreciate your wanting to send papers to the student success center you mentioned. I'm an online student, and our classes are condensed into terms instead of semesters. That setup compresses the timeframe, so I don't always get a chance to have someone else look at my work.
Instead, I use Grammarly to help me check it. I do pay for the premium version, but it does catch a lot of mistakes. Some things it catches I disagree with, but it at least allows me to check. Also, I don't put my entire paper into Grammarly at once. I cut and paste it from Word into Grammarly a section at a time. This slows me down so that I am just focusing on a few paragraphs at a time. Then, I cut and paste them back into Word once I am satisfied with how I have edited and proofread that section. I thought I would mention that in case it might help someone else.
Also, I did want to mention that I love the idea of dictating papers. I usually outlined my papers anyway and had an idea of where I was going to go before I started typing; however, at least once in each paper, I seemed to have a thought that would get lost before I could type it quickly enough. Dictating the paper makes it much less likely that will happen, and the overall result is smoother. I've only recently started dictating my papers, but I imagine it will get faster soon. This was my problem since junior/high school . Looking back I know I added too much fluff, and my thoughts didn’t always flow on paper. No matter how bad it was I skipped on proofreading and decided to turn in something vs getting a zero.

My student success centre doesn't give comments on grammar punctuation (expert the general proofread this paper again) etc., and only reads the first part.

so how do you do your in text citations and your bibliography or works cited page. Do u just read it out loud while having it written on a paper?
You can speak and type at the same time. So I add the citation in as I’m speaking the paper.

Great ideas. Eleanor, you spend about 30 minutes to an hour doing the actual writing/speaking of paper. How much time do you spend prepping the paper beforehand in terms of outline, deciding what quotes you will use from required readings, etc?. All of these (the time of actually reading the reading requirements the paper is based on is all relative, I guess) but I would love to know how you organize the quotes you will use and how that fits in with putting it in to paper as you speak it to Google Docs. Great question. I use APA formatting and it’s Arial font. The font size should be 12. Also, Google the format of APA layout and you will get images of what it should look like.

How long do you research your data before writing your paper?
Well I’ve gotten way better at it now. So I would say about an 30 minutes to an hour of research and then another 30 minutes of creating an outline

On the other hand, if you like background noise, turn on some fast music or try working in a cafe.
