    One of the most common investment banking interview questions is "Why do you want to do investment banking?" This question invites you to talk about your professional experiences and communicate your knowledge of investment banking. A good answer to this question will be 30 to 60 seconds in length, mention a few discrete points, and involve authentic experiences. This is going to be one of the first questions you get and will set the tone for the interview.

    To work in IB...It's like listening to Pink Floyd while riding unicycle on a very fast treadmill...backward. After it's passed, you will ask yourself and wonder how you pulled it all off...and all you can remember is seeing everything in pink...

    hello matt, I am big fan of your youtube channel. I just have a quick question I am a first year student at a Canadian semi target and I am keen to join the high finance world not necessarily IB think (S&T, ER or Corporate Banking etc..) However, I am lost on when the recruiting actually begins in canada is it the same as the US?

      I actually think for junior year internships that recruiting happens about a year in advance (I believe at the end of your sophomore year). FT recruiting is probably like July / August because it has to be after the internship ends. Not 100% sure though, I'd ask someone still in school.

      For Canadian, there used to be a program by IB houses (BMO/Scot/GS) that is called Portfolio Management Foundation (PMF) or similar. Check out with your schools program director for internship availability and qualification.

    5:41 How do you find out things like whether or not the company has balance sheet capacity etc? I’m not sure where to gather this kind of information

      You can generally just Google for it. Or check a company's 10-K and see what management has to say about their business engine

    What are your thoughts on RBC Capital Markets? Is this considered the premier investment bank in Canada?

    • @PeakFrameworks
      @PeakFrameworks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's probably the best of the Big 5 Canada banks. I'd still probably prefer to work at a global firm like GS or MS if you have the option because they still place a lot better and pay more.

    I’m a computer science major, does that matter to break into investment banking as long as I have the know how? Tia.

      It might make it slightly harder to convince interviewers that you legitimately want to do banking, but it's definitely possible. You'll probably have a better chance getting into technology roles too. I know several people who did CS and went into finance.

    I havE ESL and am not an English native speaker. However , I can speak both English and German and will be relearning Spanish soon. Do you think I still get a chance to be hired by prestigious companies ? I’m studying economics in my senior year at FU berlin and preparing my journey to be an IB. Still haven’t found my passion yet but it seems like I like accounting. Haha I’m just really not so confident with my English even thou I’m better than an average. I still feel intimidated speaking among natives.

    I think investors should always put their cash to work, especially In 2024, we'll start to see more market diversification. I'm hoping to invest about $350k of my savings in stocks against next year. Hope to make millions in 2024..

      Since risk is at an all-time high right now, perhaps you should be a little more patient and return when it has decreased. Alternatively, you can consult a trained financial expert for strategy.

      Yes true, I have been in touch with a brokerage Advisor. With an initial starting reserve of $80k, my advisor chooses the entry and exit commands for my portfolio, which has grown to approximately $550k.

      Angela Lynn Shilling is the licensed advisor I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.
