Agree with a lot of Rex's picks. It's a Ryder cup year, so expect all the Euros to excel. I'd like to see Viktor challenge the #1 spot, Rory win the Open, and want to see what could happen (good or bad) by adding Sergio to the Ryder cup.
I forgot Oakmont hosts the US Open this year. That course could host the US Open every year and I wouldnt complain. Even though id miss Pebble and Winged Foot.
I hate how these LIV/PGA conversations don't include the absolute fact that LIV is the disruptor here. LIV divided professional golf. Period. They should just go away.
I'm not American and I dare to ask questions like why should the US and PGA Tour dominate golf? Also tennis and other sports have been able to involve PIF without the same division that happened in golf. Could PGA Tour have acted differently initially? However we look at this money talks and PIF are not going to be ignored. The level of elite golfers' pay is now so significant that the Tour will find it difficult to sustain without PIF.
@@federationspace5264 totally. As the smart people like Phil have been saying it was going to get worse before it gets better. But it’s already starting to get better.
@@Oahugolfguy i've been to a dozen or so PGA tournaments and only one LIV event. The LIV event was more enjoyable, the quality of golf was the same and there was a better energy in the air. I've been pro-LIV since day one because there are 10,000 guys around the world who could be on the pga tour but there are barely 100 open spots ergo any new golf league is a net positive, AND I immediately recognized that the opposition to LIV was basically the same status quo morons who join together on any issue regardless of what is right. it is basically free thinking people vs status quo morons and i know which side i want to oppose. plus, the pga tour became incredibly stale, money grubbing and the focus on tiger (who i maintain has zero charisma or personality) has reached a farcical level of adulation and reliance. stop idolizing that guy and actually start growing the game. LIV did just that.
Biggest brow raiser in this 30 min was saying Rory’s focus and pressure will be on the Open at Port Rush. Are we forgetting the masters are Rory’s biggest focus and pressure? Rahm is super mentally strong. The biggest problem with his outbursts is they are simply not as endearing as say his teammate hatton. Either way both those firey heads will be in the mix often on liv, majors, dp and possibly some pga tour events. I can see 25 being the year liv players get invites into pga tour events ala what the dp euro tour has done of late. But that is certainly not the long term solution imo. Imo golf needs an elite world tour ala liv and hopeful in time all or most of the top stars can participate. Until then We will definitely see more grudge matches in 25 between the tours. But again not a long term solution. Majors winners: Rory at the masters Scottie at the pga. Rahm US Ooen Sergio port rush I do not care who the pga tour poy is right now. That award is a shell of itself ala the owgr. But yes it will likely be Scottie or Xander. Not putting it past Rory as he truly is improving in his mid 30s. Biggest need to improve is JTs putting. Finally, tiger will surpise a lot people this year. He will play more than expected and start putting some nice results on his way to winning late this year or early next year.
@ it’s my long shot pick but Sergio has had a resurgence. He had a good 24. He contended often including his limited opportunities in majors. He did win. He is in a good mental space for Sergio. And unlike tiger he always seems to be physically healthy (enough). That being said he may not even be qualified for the Open as of now. Which is nuts.
I agree with you, Rex: Xander; Colin; Bryson!!! Lovely picks.
I believe Ludvig is a strong contender for the Masters, too!!!
Masters- Rory
PGA- Finau
US Open- Scheffler
Open- Rahm
FedEx Champ- Xander

Players: Siwoo Kim
Masters: W. Zalatoris
PGA: Viktor Hovland
US: Scottie Scheffler
British: Jordan Spieth
FedEx Cup: Scottie Scheffler
___
I agree with you on most of the picks. Scottie I am not sure if he will win the fed ex cup given his injury.
Spieth will win the Open, Sporting Life's Ben Coley tipped him. Great pod per usual, Thailand's number 1 golf podcast will return next time.
The TGL Golf League starts with New York Golf Club vs The Bay Golf Club

We could see a mixed cup Ryder cup style in September potentially
Was there a draft of some sort to form the team rosters in this upcoming TGL ?
Ryder Cup is hosting the Bethpage Black
I don’t know he will play in the Cyrpto Showdown with Nelly Korda in Florida in February
Oakmont Country Club is a par 70 is a tougher course
As an american, I will root for the europe side in the ryder cup because the pga tour is charging 1 thousand dollars a ticket.
Ludvig Aberg finishing 1 heard it here first
The presidents cup may become a mixed event in 2026
Masters keeps about 100 players in that tournament
Ryder cup will be USA vs Europe
Scottie Scheffler is injured right now and hopefully he will return to the American Express Tournament
Phil will be co captain
Matt McCarty is the player to look out for in 2025
Luke Clanton too - especially when he turns pro.
@ agreed, it doesn’t even make sense how a 160 lb 21-year-old is already one of the best drivers on the planet
It depends how much you get paided
Prediction: LIV and its players will become increasingly irrelevant, Bryson included.

LIV has saved it. The game is better than ever and the future is brighter. The pga tour was stuck in the tiger worshipping death spiral.
