You chose a knock out wardrobe for NYC! It was hip, elegant and fun! Every time I have a NYC trip I struggle with my choices. As I watched you choose my number one thought was “How will that look in this city?”. I travel often and sometimes I need to shop to fill in the gaps. Lastly I learned a few new tailoring techniques so thanks 😊!
Hi Catherine. I hope you had a good trip to NYC with your thrifted clothes. I too am a big second-hand shopper and ultimately alter most of it. Greetings from the UK
Wow! Those are all great choices! Looking at that makes me realize I need to take more time to buy things that go together and create a better capsule wardrobe. I often find pieces I like but don’t think much about what to wear them with. Could be because I wear jeans 85% of the time!
The newspaper pants are adorable! I would have had a super hard time choosing between all of those clothes. I found a skort, dark blue with white leaves in cotton. I tried them on at home, and they made me look huge. I cut the skirt off, then the pockets off the skirt, added them to the shorts. Much better! The skirt part will transform into a tank top. See how you inspire people? Not sure when you went on your trip, but i hope everyone had a wonderful time!
Hi- new here - fabulous channel! So much to learn 😊 I love thrifting but don’t know how to sew/ alterations yet. But I do have a sewing machine now. Wishing you a wonderfully memorable trip. My vote for your suitcase is the darker tie dye dress and the new and a dark sweatshirt/ sweater/ cardigan? that could be put on top of the dress to turn it into a maxi skirt look and work with the jean jacket on top as extra layer if needed, and those classy striped pants with those cute tops, animal print and city scape for sure ❤.
I have very fond memories of chaperoning my sons’ trips; high school hockey tournaments to Toronto, Band trips to Europe are just a couple of them. Your New York collection looked wonderful. I wonder if many of your students refashion thrifted clothing?
Catherine, I just LOVE your lessons and suggestions. I AM inspired to attack my mountain of "needs some help" clothes. I'm one who has sets of clothes in different sizes and I hate it. My question is: is there any treatment for blouses (woven fabric) that were bought in a size larger so that the middle is large enough. Of course, many have a classic pointed collar. the neck is too big and the shoulders are too wide. Can they be brought in? help!! And thanks for all that you have tought me already.
The green dress with the belt is less flattering. Perhaps swop it for the first dress which shows off your shape beautifully. Perhaps with a pretty blouse instead of the T shirt. I hope the trip goes well and they all behave.
I really enjoyed seeing the photos you took in NY. The outfits you chose looked great!!
Good for you, Catherine! You live what you preach! Your students will notice that your wardrobe is all upcycle. This will teach more than your words!❤
Your students have got to think you're the coolest teacher ever! Your choices and style show how much fun you are! Love them all!
Haha, I’m not sure what my students think! I sure love them though!
@@CatherineSews they're lucky to have you!
I hope you have a safe, fun time in New York. Enjoy. You will look wonderful.
Love seeing the OOTD pics at the end… fabulous!
Thanks, Tracy! So nice to see you here!

So many great outfits! Packable fabrics are definitely smart choices.
When I took the Queen Mary II to Southampton all my dressy clothes were purchased from a consignment shop. Saved jillions!
You look super good in the pinstripe pants outfit, and I like the panel top for NYC energy! Have a great time!
Super job thrifting and up cycling! You go!
You’re taking some great items, but I adore the newsprint jeans!

Awwww, thank you, Lorraine!
I love your fish pants? If I could find fabric that’s similar, I may make some. We had better not be caught in the same room together😂

We had a blast! 🤩
Oh wow! Good luck and have fun.
I always learn from watching your videos. How do you determine what size stitch length to use for what? No one has every told me.
Have a wonderful time
This is so timely for me. Thanks! Going to NY in June so you gave me great ideas to use!!

How big is your suitcase? Lol❤ Hope your trip was fun fun fun!
All looked great and since fit well, confident. What country are you in ? ( 🇨🇦 or south of here? )

You have a lovely figure Catherine and look great in everything. That leather shirt is 😍 hope you have an enjoyable trip. 😊
Outfits turned out really cute. You look tiny in the jeans skirt outfit.
