You are so welcome! There are some really beautiful beginner friendly patterns out there. Just make sure you pick the right fabric with the right patients. Happy sewing.
Thank you Katinka, I love your wardrobe this video was so inspiring and you makes are beautiful. I love so many things the pants with the frill, the scalloped jumper, the petticoat, the smocked dress and the knitted cardigan oh my goodness you must be so proud don't forget to celebrate how clever you are.🤩🥰
Thank you so much! I do sometimes forget that this was a journey and did not just happen overnight. I am so glad you liked it and thank you for watching.
Thank you Katinka, such a beautiful, feminine wardrobe which suits you. I will be watching this again - lots of ideas even though I am older and a totally different shape, I love all your makes ❤
wow Katina great wardrobe I especially love that jumpsuit and that grey cardigan is awesome . I really like your layering ideas thanks so much for sharing
Hi Katinka, what a fabulous wardrobe. The colours all go so well together and the various garments are so versatile. I also love the swish of a long skirt and am currently in the process of making a dress out of cotton lawn. The various dress patterns you chose would also suit me, so I watched your choice of fabric and pattern very closely. A delightful video. 🌸
Wow Katinka you really are a style icon! Everything you make flatters you and you have a wonderful eyes for combining items. You'd be a brilliant stylist or personal shopper!
You are so welcome! I actually find it a letdown when people just show the things on hangers and not put it on so you can see how it fit. Thank you for watching.
Thank you Tracy. I love the direction my wardrobe is taking and I feel like most of my clothes are timeless and I can see myself wearing it for a long time to come.
Hi Katinka. What a great walk through with twirls of your autumn/winter wardrobe! Thanks for taking us along. Just an idea to avoid anything tight around the waist, I made overalls out of wool fabric (lined). They are wonderfully warm. The fabric was inherited from a friend: a brown and cream small houndstooth check. I imagine wool overalls would look great with all your lovely hand knitted sweaters, Antonia
Thank you 😊. I lost my hair at 17 and thought I could not wear dresses anymore. Until a few years back when I finally realized that my Identity is not in my hair, I am still a dresses girl and so I embraced it and now I love twirling!
@@theseamstressatthecottage ❤ Yes You are right, Infact you inspire me so much. I got all white at very young age. Some of my kids friends think me as grandmother when they do not know me. My kids are small and i feel bad for them, they might get bullied for this as they grow. I feel no right to dress up when i do not color my hair and literally go about like sitting at home. I know this is my own insecurity inside i need to learn to handle. 😞
@Sunshineandlemon there is this one girl from one of the Baltic nations who has 100000 followers on TH-cam and she has been gary since her teens. Embrace your gray and make it your signature, some people pay lots of money to get it. Dress up if you want to or dow but please love yourself. You are worth it!
Your wardrobe looks very versatile so far! If you are looking for a comfy pair of pants, I would recommend the love notions Duet trousers. I made a pair in Ponte, and immediately made a second pair in stretch corduroy from JoAnn's. I gave them a yoga waistband so they are super comfortable, just pull them up, no zipper. The pattern is designed with a generous rise and accommodates a sizable bum. I really should made a petticoat like yours! Meanwhile getting by with my old slips. And I love all your sweaters and cardigans!
@theseamstressatthecottage I resisted for a long time but so glad I did. Big 4 pants never fit me right. The Duet are drafted for a much curvier shape and fit great without modifications.
I love, love, love the black pants with white flowers. Did you say the fabric was corduroy? Is that a recent make? I would love to know where you got the fabric!
It is corduroy, and was given to me by a friend, 10 years ago. I finally made it, 2 years ago. I did see some similar fabric on easy. Just Google rose printed needlecord.
Which pattern did you use for the trousers/pants with the frills around the bottom please Katinka? They are adorable. Also could you tell me what kind of fabric you made them up in?
Hi Sandra, it is my own design. I am working on that pattern and hope to have it ready in the new year. I used a mid weight woven gingham in cotton linen.
I’m watching Buy Now on Netflix and I’m coming to the disappointing realisation that even my sewing hobby is contributing to the textile pollution problem. All the new fabrics out there contribute to the problem. I try to buy thrifted or deadstock but it’s not always possible to get what I’m looking for. Feeling defeated. 😢I love all your makes though.
I think it is about the awearess, I trift and buy dead stock but if I want something specifick, then I buy it in the best quality that I can afford and make a timeless pice that I can weare for manny seasons. That way my cost per wear goes down and the item is not short term. I also try not to buy fabrick unless I have a plan for it. Please dont feel defeated, sewing and making your own clothes is such a beautifull skill.
I love, love, love the black pants with white flowers. Did you say the fabric was corduroy? Is that a recent make? I would love to know where you got the fabric!
It was corduroy and was a gift from a dear friend 10 years ago and I made it in to pants 2 years ago. I saw some similar fabric on etsy . It was like $20 a meter . A bit steep for my budget. But just Google needle cord with roses on it and it shoeld come up.
Thank you for sharing 😊 as a beginner sewist I get excited seeing the what’s possible when it comes to a handmade wardrobe

@theseamstressatthecottage Definitely timeless. 💜

Swishing is VERY important! 🤣 we swing dance and I ALWAYS test the twirl before I wear something out.
Swishing is what dreams are made of!😁
I love how many of your pieces go with so many others in your wardrobe. Absolutely love your dresses too! Great video - thank you!

Thank you, that is such a good Idea. I have some wool in my South African stash that I could use. I will have to look into that for next winter.
I especially love the olive green dress with the waist band. it moves so beautifully, and the color is lovely on you.

Loving all the midi dresses on you. Especially the autumnal colours. Thank you for your video.

I love your ward room. Wish I could sew as nice as you so I’m working on it.
Thank you, Kathleen, you will get there. Take your time with your items and pick the right fabric with the right pattern.

I love that red dress and don't see just sleeves, just make them slightly narrow if you so wish. I think they balance out the dress
Thank you, I will try that and then decide.

It is such a lovely dress. It is a pattern by silversaga patterns called the Ella dress.

Can you sew some thin elastic around the sleeves on your beautiful vest?
I tried it and it didn't work, it feels like there is just to much fabric. Sadly I think that I will have to reknit the top part.
