Another magic adventure vlog Vince. I'll take a slice of that countryside any day- and life's truly golden when one's daughter still clings to Dad n' Daughter time - good on you Claire!
Really enjoyed your company and also it was nice to have a little break from steering the boat. Gave me a chance to enjoy the surroundings! See you soon love Dad xxx
Great vlog Vince. Nice to see Clare keeping you company and helping you out. You’re looking like a natural Clare. Loving the history. How old a lot of our buildings are always amazes me. Take care Vince xxx

My second time having a look. I wonder what Gobian means…..we have a Higham Gobian in Hertfordshire.. probably old English for something very dull. It does a bit exotic though.
The weather improved by the end of the video. Hope you are leaving out a saucer with milk or treat for the fairies so they look after you. Hi Clare, you picked a lovely bit of journey to join your dad again.
It all looks a lot better when the sun shines Linda! I can be a bit of a nutter sometimes, I still believe in the tooth fairy haha! Look after yourself Vin x
Greetings from the American South. Love when you give us a look at the local villages and towns and the little snippets of your country's history. I have always wanted to travel in the UK to see the homeland of my ancestors, I probably never will have the opportunity to come over but thanks to your efforts, I can get a tiny glimpse. Looking forward to the next installment.
After a morning of fixing car bodywork and locks and other mechanical things I see a video with Vince and Claire too. Outstanding way to relax those 'worked' muscles. Thanks for the videos.
@@NarrowboatCruisingLifestyle The one thing (apart from good bread, cheese, beer etc) I miss by living in the USA is the British countryside. Always relaxes.
Thank u for a calm & informative ride today. Didn’t know of narrowboat life until recently. I enjoy hearing tidbits, also the map of start/end. Have a great week. 🇨🇦
Another good one Vince and nice to see Clare with you again. You`re right about the old bridge`s and their character, it`s the same down in Cornwall with the railway viaducts, it amazes me how they built them without the equipment they have today. Anyway Vince keep up the good work and keep safe. See you on the next trip. Brian
Cheers Brian! I've also noticed how the houses change from the different villages I go through, being built from the local stone of each area! Hope to see you on the next one!
I think the word you were looking for is "steering" the boat. I thought I saw a tiny bit of a smile from Claire. Such a pretty gal. Takes after her handsome dad of course. That canal was certainly nice and wide in some areas, but oh so pretty. Hope your weather gets better. We are experiencing (today - 19th.) 40 degree F. Had freezing rain, sleet and snow and tonight we have another freeze warning. They are saying we are to get 80 temps this coming weekend. Oh I certainly hope so. So tired of the cold. Hey, take care out there. We all love your vlogs. Your bits of wisdom and humor and history and photos you take along the way. Take care and stay safe. Sandy from US
I think Clare must have been the Milkman's! I can't wait for the proper summer weather as well Sandy! And I'm glad you're enjoying the vlogs so far. Hope to see you on the next one Vince!
Yes I am on a bit of a mission and moved on from Bugbrook to Stowe hill / Weedon today. Hope you enjoy the Blissworth tunnel, make sure you have your brolly, it’s wet but very interesting. C
Another beautiful video. I enjoy those short village walks. That village scenery gave me an idea for my house ( I have a serious "witch" problem) , so I will try that cat on the roof trick- I hope it works! Lovely to see you spending time together with your daughter. Claire seems to be a lovely young lady!
I really enjoyed it, it takes me away from the snow on the ground that seems to never melt up here in NE Ontario Canada! Besides I love the gorgeous country canal scenery....Thanks.
I once stayed at the Blissworth Arms when I was on a training course up there in February back in the 80s. The room was bloody freezing and damp and I caught the flu or some such thing and had 2 weeks off work!!! Nice vlog Vince. Claire is coming on well on the tiller. You can start to think about putting your feet up with her about!
Great to see Clare again, she’s beautiful! Are you sure you’re her dad? Haha, she must take after her mother. Picking my daughter up tomorrow (she’s 13) I’m on the Gloucester & Sharpness so looking forward to that. All the best Vince.
Hi Vince & Clare (good to see you back with Dad again). We have had a good spell of weather, may it continue. I take it Clare will not be taking on the upcoming tunnel? Nice one Vince and good to see Clair at the helm keeping you company. Great scenery and I love the villages with the thatch roofed house's. Reminded me of staying with my three aunties in their black and white thatched roof cottage on the outskirts of Wrexham. Sadly the thatch got taken off as their pensions couldn't pay for the upkeep and extra insurance, plus the local thatcher had moved away. Maybe that pubs pods were to keep the kids out of the bar on rainy days. You of course get another thumbs up from me, I do won't to see your score mount up, as your vids are great and no gimmicks so keep em coming. Safe sailing and thanks for posting
That's the trouble with them thatched houses, beautiful but expensive to keep up! About them pods, in my humble opinion, you might as well sit in the greenhouse in your garden (no atmosphere). And thank you for watching my vids for so long, I do appreciate that!

It makes a nice change to have someone else do most of the work, so I can have a good look around Alan! I reckon I'm a bit too honest to work for them haha!
Greetings Vince and to answer your question I've always understood, and used the term Navigator for the person responsible for steering the boat. It was interesting to see the LNBP boats. Many years ago, when televisions were in sepia tone I was involved with two or three boats owned by Hillingdon Council in connection with their youth services. I've mentioned before we would take young people for the weekend up to Camden lock in London or for longer week long trips on the Grand Union. It was noticeable to see the change in them just for being taken out of their usual environments, even for a short while. Good to see Claire back, her boat handling skills have improved.
I think you're right Kevin! I know from my own experience of being brought up in the east end of London. We was taken to the Chelmer & Blackwater Canal, for a weeks canoeing and sailing! I ended up buying a house in the country, (near to that canal) and later bought a Narrowboat! So it does show them a different outlook on life!

Cheers Stu! I'm taking my time, but getting up there slowly but surely. It's good to have Clare driving the boat so I can have a proper look around See you next time mate!
From what I have gathered, the pump by the overflow brings water up from the river. My guess is that due to the size/length of the pound, it may need regular topping off. May be leaky? The CRT had recently renovated the pump, so that it is no longer emptying towards boats/kyakers etc, but up into a "umbrella" where it then falls back into the pound...
