Just made this for dinner, and I'm genuinely blown away by how delicious it came out given it's simplicity. The only difference I made for mine was the addition of mushrooms and bread sticks on the side, but this recipe definitely stands strong as is. I've never cooked with kale before so I wasn't expecting much. Turns out it's such a vital ingredient that added a whole lot of flavor, this soup wouldn't be half as good without it! I've already had folks ask me for the link to the video so they can try it too. Thanks for the recipe! 💜
I had bone-in ham leftovers, so I threw it in the crockpot, covered with water to make a stock, and added some chicken bouillon. I made hot Italian sausage from ground turkey and followed your recipe for the rest. A couple hours left but the broth tastes AMAZING!! Can't wait to try it out 😁
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Just keep any extra kale handy in case you want to add more when you heat up leftovers. As much as I put in my soup, my daughter always says it's not enough. Lol
I've been making a variation on this for years, but it's been slipping in our opinion of it. This and another video has the kale being added later - we add it first. Going to try putting it in last, next time. My wife also only uses one potato - our Irish ancestors are crying! Still, I think six may be too many? The most I have used was four. I like to use at least 2, 3 if they're smaller. Also, I use bacon, but I've been reading that the original recipe doesn't include it, and that may be making it more greasy than it should be. Also, I love that fish turner you use. I use one very similar to it. I got the idea from my mother's kitchen, she had a very old one and after moving out, I felt something was missing in my own kitchen. Went to visit and saw it, and realized immediately. Many years later, I saw she no longer had hers. She said it got old, she had to throw it out, and no store carries it anymore. I immediately opened my Amazon app and ordered her the same two (they come like that) that I bought. Neither of us cook fish, but it's so good for so many things. Way more useful than a straight flipper/turner or bowl scraper, due to the angle. Also, I'm glad someone else mentioned locking the slow cooker - it isn't a pressure cooker. My wife does the same thing and refuses to change. It hasn't hurt anything. There is a vent on the lid. I think we have the same slow cooker, too.
I knew it was a winner when my daughter said we needed to buy more kale! There’s something I never thought I’d hear! 😂 Thanks for checking out my video & for taking the time to comment.
I've made this many times. If you cook a pack of bacon ( add half after potatoes and a sprinkle on top of finished ) it makes a world of difference. Also add cracked pepper too after potatoes (omg) fantastic. I also use mild Italian sausage and add crushed red pepper flakes so i can adjust the spiciness. Thank you for sharing
I'm trying this out tonight with leftovers from a bone-in ham. I hope it gives me that bacon flavor without the extra grease. So far the broth is really flavorful!
This is an excellent recipe. I chop up some bacon and add about 1/2 pound of bacon to this recipe. I also don't peel the potatoes, just scrubbed and washed, then cut up into small chunks. I noticed that the poster locks the lid on the crockpot. This should NOT be done while cooking. The ONLY time you lock the lid is when transporting it.
Yikes! I never knew that! I've been locking the lid while cooking for as long as I've had that crockpot...which is a REALLY long time! After I read your comment I looked it up, and you're right. The latches are only for transport. I'm thankful I've never had an issue with the steam building up. Thanks for the heads up.
I’m so happy you’ll be trying it. 👍🏼Thanks for taking the time to comment. It made me laugh because I guess I’m out of control with the kale. I sometimes put even more in! I always look for the absolute biggest bunch I can find. 🤣😂😂
Were the potatoes smaller or larger than usual? I'm guessing it's all relative to where you get them, and next time I'll be careful to state that. Thanks for the comment. This soup really is fantastic!
Yea she put too much cheese its not a cheese soup. With cream in the soup extra cheese is not needed cause of the cream Its italian soup not a cheese soup !
At the Olive Garden where I first tasted this soup you can request shredded cheese on top of it. So why not put cheese on top of your soup? To each his own. It's one's preference. Do you!!!
The cheese makes it taste better and maybe she likes a lot of kale Why does everyone need to put their two cents in when No one asked you smh This soup is delicious exactly the way she makes it and it’s identical to Olive Garden

I make this all the time now. It is so yummy ! 😋 My husband always tells me ," this is even better than olive garden ."
That’s awesome! I agree with your husband. 😋👌🏼Thanks for the comment.
I made this soup and it’s Delicious I added some crushed red pepper flakes to make it a little more spicy my whole family loved it TY

I love this soup. The kale melts like butter
I love it, too. In fact, I just made it this past Sunday. It's one I never get tired of. Thanks for checking out my video.
This is one of my favorite soups! Never thought to fix it in a crock pot! Great idea! Thank you for the recipe! God bless!
I tend to use my crockpot a lot, even though I have an instant pot. I guess I'm just a creature of habit. Thanks watching and commenting.
I have lots of kale! Looks delicious!
I will be trying this thanks for the video!👍😊

Thank you so much for posting. I’m definitely trying this. BTW OG cuts the potatoes into moon shapes 🌓
Looks amazing! 😋
I made this today and it was fire🔥!
So happy to hear that! I agree. I could eat this every day & not get tired of it.
Looks yummy, thinking I'll try with half the kale amount.
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Just keep any extra kale handy in case you want to add more when you heat up leftovers. As much as I put in my soup, my daughter always says it's not enough. Lol

Been making for years
Can’t wait to try it, looks sooo delicious!!

Dinner!!!!!
Miss Marcy just saw this recipe for the zuppa toscanna , in the crockpot, don’t the potatoes dissolve ?
I love Italian Sausage in anything! I never thought of putting it in a soup! I'll even eat the Kale (not a big fan...) Great job!
Raddish for me… low carb 😋

Party Time!!!
This is one of my faves, for sure.
❤❤❤
Looks good ! But I don’t think you are suppose to lock the lid when cooking . Only for transfering .

This was good. I'll use spinach next time. I'm not a big fan of Kale.
I don’t care for kale, would baby spinach work as a substitute
Only way I'll eat kale.
As the saying goes: “Work smarter, not harder!” lol
You sound like the all recipes lady!!
Looks amazing but wayyy to much kale... making this for dinner
I’m so happy you’ll be trying it. 👍🏼Thanks for taking the time to comment. It made me laugh because I guess I’m out of control with the kale. I sometimes put even more in! I always look for the absolute biggest bunch I can find. 🤣😂😂
Kale tends to shrink when cooking. It's good to add extra.
Shutup! 🤣 You're just being negative, kale cooks down and is great flavor and texture.
That’s the sorta thing it’s based on the consumers preference
I thought it was perfect
I love a lot of kale in mine. I find the largest bunch of kale when I make mine.
I thought if you overcook the kale it’ll get bitter
I've never had an issue with kale tasting bitter. But then again, I just cook it until it's soft, same as you would spinach.
I don’t like kale so I use baby spinach
Why you peel the potatoes?
It's just a personal preference. You don't have to if you want to keep the skins on.
Where's the bacon bits
You have 5 to 6 hrs in your recipe...I'm sure that's a typo🤔
I actually do leave it in the crockpot that long. I set it to Low, so I don't have to be home.
@@marcyinspired1442 my apologies! I was thinking regular pot. Duh on me, you did mention crockpot😏🙆🤣
Where's the bacon
This soup is fantastic, but that’s not 6 large potatoes in the crock pot.
Were the potatoes smaller or larger than usual? I'm guessing it's all relative to where you get them, and next time I'll be careful to state that. Thanks for the comment. This soup really is fantastic!
The best recipe? I doubt that because you didn’t put any bacon in it
Good point.
Yea she put too much cheese its not a cheese soup. With cream in the soup extra cheese is not needed cause of the cream Its italian soup not a cheese soup !

Everybody likes what they like. Cheese please 😊
The cheese makes it taste better and maybe she likes a lot of kale Why does everyone need to put their two cents in when No one asked you smh This soup is delicious exactly the way she makes it and it’s identical to Olive Garden
nah
Raddish for me… low carb 😋
