    Shopping List:
1 lb hot or mild Italian sausage
    1 onion diced
    3 cloves minced garlic
    6 cups chicken stock
    1 cup heavy cream
    5 slices bacon
    2-4 russet potatoes
    3 handfuls chopped kale
2 tbs better than bouillon roasted garlic
    1/4 cup parmesan cheese
salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes
    Directions:
In a large pot over medium heat, cook bacon. Remove bacon when finished and reserve for later.
Next, cook sausage, breaking up with the back of a wooden spoon, until browned and no longer pink, 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer to a plate to drain.
Add onion and roasted garlic base to the drippings in the pot and cook until soft, then add garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 minute more.
Add chicken broth and potatoes and cook until potatoes are tender, about 20 minutes. (Fork tender)
Stir in kale and heavy cream and bring to a boil. Then, reduce to a simmer and let cook until leaves are tender and bright green. Season with salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes to taste. Garnish with shredded parmesan.

Great tip: add the cream to individual servings if you plan to have leftovers. It will not freeze well or store well if you add cream to the whole pot

Beautiful recipe. Love it. Always remember that Italians drizzle a bit of extra virgin olive oil when serving a bowl of homemade soup. It’s a finishing touch. Regardless of olive oil used in the recipe, the incredible flavor of raw olive oil along with grated cheese (I prefer Romano cheese) just completes the flavors. The taste of olive oil changes when heated so this drizzle adds great authentic flavor. Love your passion for flavor!

So funny this popped up today - going to my brother's house for Christmas tomorrow, whose Christmas Day tradition for the past few years is take out from Olive Garden, soup, salad and breadsticks, and it's always this soup. A few years ago, I found a keto recipe that used turnips instead of potatoes, made it and asked the fam which one they liked better. I already knew the homemade version was much heartier, and they did like it. But they like the convenience of not having to cook on Christmas Day (and I already cooked most of our Thanksgiving meal!) so Olive Garden it will be. But believe me, I will be making your recipe for me and my son next week!! Thank you and Merry Christmas!!

@Queenie Maja not sure what city/town you’re in your local grocery store should carry it presliced and it would be with the other bacons (turkey/pork) or you can get it sliced from your deli where they slice the lunch meat at. Or try a meat place that specializes in carrying different meat options. Hopefully that helps because I know it’s not very popular as ppl tend to eat pork mainly a whole lot.

This looks like a good recipe - very similar to something I make all the time. There were a couple of red flags that I would caution potential cooks about. Number one, if you use the Better than Bouillon, any kind of BtB, you should be very aware of what a salt bomb it is, and perhaps use low sodium chicken broth to avoid your soup becoming overly salty. Secondly, if you decide to use half-and-half, instead of cream, be absolutely sure that you do not let the soup approach the simmer, or you’ll just have a curdled mess. Cream won’t do that.

I went out to Olive Garden and I took some soup to go. My husband ate my leftover zuppa! I was upset but he suggested I make some. I love this recipe. I’ve made it twice!

I make this soup all the time, even in the summer. I use crushed red pepper in mine to give it a kick. I put it in when I'm browning the sausage. You don't peel the potatoes. Just give them a good wash then cut them with the skin on them and in the pot they go after washing them again. Russet Potatoes 🥔 is recommended for this recipe. I don't use processed ingredients. Everything is fresh. Garlic cloves (minced), chicken stock or Knorr Chicken Cubes is good to use. It's a very easy soup to make. I use Kale as well. Everyone has their own way of making this soup.

Made this last night, so delicious! I didn't have the squeeze bottle seasonings, just used some dry Italian seasoning, more chopped garlic and the roasted chicken better than bouillon I had. Definitely something I will continue to make over and over again. Thank you!

Just made this before work, I was surprised how quick and easy it came together with so much flavor. I changed something like I used Italian turkey sausage, oat milk (it was all I have) dry Italian seasoning it was still great

First off I watch your channel all the time. I as well as my family were in the mood for lasagna and I made your recipe with the red wine and the borsin cheese. It was the most delicious lasagna I've ever made and I make a mean one. So thank you for your delicious meals you make and I will continue to watch

I make this soup all the time!! I could eat it every day also. I add lots of mushrooms & spinach instead of kale. Just a personal preference. And I don’t put much potatoes in the soup because I am diabetic. I also add a cup of wild rice blend & carrots 🥕 shredded i use Old Bay Seafood Seasoning So Yummy!!!

I just made this soup and the recipe is on point. It came out great and it's delicious. This recipe made a really big pot and is a lot for me as a single but I'm going to bag it and freeze it for another time when I need a good soup. Especially during times like this cold winter we're having. 😊 Thanks for sharing this, it's 🔥🔥🔥 and way better than Olive Garden's version cause it's made with love at home 😊

Nice job with the soup., looks delish! I make mine with Yukon Gold potatoes and cut them to be more chunky with the skin on…i use heavy cream and hit it with a squirt of lemon juice and parmesan just prior to serving… 😊

    • @sherriberge2912

Forgot to comment, i think the lemon juice just brightens the flavor a wee bit…i won’t go without it now that i tried it.

    Love your content and collabs.
I'm a potato and kale lover so I add way more kale and new and gold potatoes for that potato happy profile.
For non kale lovers try with baby kale or spinach added to the bottom of your bowl, then label on piping hot soup to wilt your greens. Just know putting spinach in the soup why cooking will make the spinach soggy. It doesn't hold up in this soup.
