What I'm really grateful for is TH-cam. All of this wonderful music from back in the days most people on here cherish and wax nostalgic about is right here at our fingertips. At almost 78 years of age, my memory is still like a steel trap, and song titles will spontaneously pop into my head from the 60's, 70's and even into the 80's. I'll go to TH-cam search, and there it is ready to play. How awesome is that?

Listen to the beauty, the sadness, the loss, the grief...and somehow, there remains a lingering hope all in 3 minutes & 10 seconds of pure musical genius. They are and always will be one of the greatest bands of all time.
Well said Luke, if we could just gather all of the like minded people and collectively migrate to an uninhibited planet and restart humanity but this time take care to all live in a constant state of gratitude eliminate greed and self serving behavior and for goodness sake value and care for one another based on love instead of who's the richest or has the most material possessions. Luke while I'm dreaming on what could be let's just ban the concept of money all together. Pray that our decendents will live to a ripe old age without ever knowing what money is.
I live in a city in the Northeast US. That city has been destroyed by Covid 19 and Donald Trump. How many times did my friends and former family, two of whom are now dead, cross the bridges into that city in the 70’s to the sounds of ELO? The first tune I recall was Telephone Line, and I can still see the spires of that city with the moonlight reflecting on the water. Idk what all this means. But like his musical forebear Claude Debussy, the Maestro Jeff Lynne and his timeless melody is forever etched into my soul. 🇺🇸
This is a song I can’t get out of my head. Listening in 2024 and will probably still be listening until my dying breath. So much love for Jeff Lynn and this band. ❤️
Didn't realize I used your 1st 3 words in my own comments til after, but you're very accurate. This song is very emotional. It reminds me of misty memories of long ago watching the moon reflecting over the Pacific Ocean in the 70's & later as I've aged. Sounds corny, sorry, but true.
ELO one of the best sounding bands of the 70s. Jeff Lynne is a musical genius! No other band sounded like them, what a joy to listen to. On their greatest hits album there are so many great songs it is hard to pick which one you want to listen to. The string instruments in these songs are simply awesome and will live on forever.
@@TAD3011 But, Jeff was accepted into the Beatles’ Circle by George Harrison. This is really an extension of Beatles’ music. Even Jeff would be proud to admit that. I was born in december 1979, lived in an orphanage from 1981 till december 1989 and was later adopted by a loving family. Wonderful live band. I was lucky enough to attend 3 performances in Jeff Lynne's hometown of Birmingham, UK in 2016-2018. Brilliant shows, but they only performed this sublime ballad in the first show, ELO's very first performance in Birmingham for nearly 30 years, what a night that was!
This short version leaves out one verse: Breakdown on the shoreline, Can't move, it's an ebb tide, Morning don't get here tonight, Searching for her silver light.
When you're Jeff Lynne and your helping with music like that of George Harrison of The Beatles, you know that your talent is unheard of. ELO.. never be another like them. They are the premiere of music and talent.❤
In the history of music, Jeff Lynne has written some of the best music, right up there with the Wagner, Beethoven, Dvorak, and a few others. This will live forever.
Jeff Lynne is a prodigy. There is no other way to describe his genius. He'll be looked back on as one of the greats along with some of the classical creators like Brahms and Beethoven
I wouldn't go THAT far ... his tunes were nice, but Rachmaninoff, Liszt Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Debussy, Wagner, Beethoven, ... were way more prodigious in their scope, intricacy, technique and volume of work. I love Jeff, too, and his music was part of the soundtrack of my life, but the above guys would have blown him away ...

One of the best ELO tracks ever, loved this since I was a child, its got a magical quality to it
IMHO the best music group to ever exist.
This short version leaves out one verse: Breakdown on the shoreline, Can't move, it's an ebb tide, Morning don't get here tonight, Searching for her silver light.
One of the best Rock songs ever. Long live Jeff Lynne's ELO
👏👏👏 yes so true 👍
I have tears of joy right now. This will forever be cemented in my mind as a sophomore in high school. And Jeff WITHOUT those sunglasses!
Priceless!!❤
I was a sophomore, too. The 70s were almost too good to be true!
Exactly. I've never seen him without the sunglasses!
such a beautiful song strings hypes this song .
Какже мы скучаем по тем годам и временам когда все было натуральное и живое .
I can’t get ELO out of my head. They ruled the 70;s just great timeless music thank you Jeff Lynne and ELO 🤩
❤
first ELO song i heard as a kid and I thought straight away what an amazing band and they never disappointed me from that time on
I really love this precious song...
I saw them in concert in Chicago. They opened inside of a spaceship. It was so cool! Thank you God for elo
Wonderful. I saw them live in 1978, love ELO
One of the best Classic Rock song ever. Musically it's superb! Long live Jeff Lynne (ELO).
Blue amplified violin. White cello. How cool. These guys proved that orchestra music could be cool.
Brahms did that long before!
@@BillboardPenguin Oh did Brahms make beautiful catchy pop tunes as well?
@@apolloton1 He made beautiful catchy classical tunes. He was the tune master!
Their integration of classical instruments into really solid rock is what I really liked about ELO!
@@BillboardPenguin Good man.But no pop tunes..😏😏
When you're Jeff Lynne and your helping with music like that of George Harrison of The Beatles, you know that your talent is unheard of. ELO.. never be another like them. They are the premiere of music and talent.❤
My favorite song writer of all time
Mine too! Long live Jeff!
Jeff Lynne actually has eyes!!!!
lol
Edith Murray lol
Soulful ) eyes
nah
Edith Murray 😂
My favorite concert of all time!! Thank you ELO. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Prodigy ! Ha! He is only a legend in his own mind!
@@truthseeker7794 he does not write any of his songs!
@@maggiemae7539 are you sure about that ?
@@gritdog Check the internet.
This song brings us down to the beach of our life to reflect on loves, some of them lost.
❤ BEST example of the 70s. ❤ E.L.O.
Saw them twice back in the day and yes they were glorious days , I hurt that the kids have to worry about more , God Bless Good Luck
I just love the drum intro. Simple but brilliant.
....i wraca, i wraca do mnie ten celnie wypuszczony muzyczny bumerang mimo tylu lat od kiedy usłyszałem tę balladę po raz pierwszy. Perełka🙋😘❤👂🎼🎵🎸🎤🎹😄🎶🎵👍👏👌👋
One of my absolute favorite songs by ELO. Also, I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen Jeff Lynne’s eyes before!
ELO słucham od 50 lat, ich muzyka i glos Jeffa to moje życie. To moja grupa numer 1 na zawsze.❤
Beautiful ❤️ beautiful 😍, beautiful 🌹
This song sounds like if Elton John, David Bowie, Queen and the Beatles wrote a song together.
A masterpiece!
I thought that you cheeky so …..
John Lennon referred to E.L.O. as "son of Beatles".
Yes, you got it ,& he was very good friends with the Beatles they even used the Beatles plane.Jeff has a good relationship with so many big stars.
And with a good dose of "Golden Slumbers"
jl died doing what he loved. He chose the wrong country.
🎶 "Midnight on the water, 🌚🏖 ..I saw the ocean's daughter..." 🌬🌌🌠🌌 💓
It’s not often you get to see the eyes of a genius.
And he has beautiful eyes .👌👌👌
Calm down ,, Bono is a genius
@@scundoorsup5342an onanist more like
Especially since he wears sunglasses most of the time
That word sure is being thrown around a lot. And he ain’t no genius.
