The genius of Jeff
When songs were incredible
And on important topics.
My 11yr old son got me (44) into ELO. He was introduced to it by another 11yr old.
Your son has good taste. I love it.
That's great that eleven-yr-olds still love ELO! I was eleven in 1978 when these great songs were on the radio.
2023 and still listening at 71 years young! I will continue till I am ashes floating on the wind.
🖤🖤🖤
Still rocking and rollin at 76!
Awesome, God Bless You!

Hearing it takes me back to some fond memories of that time,as a carefree kid then.

So's Jurr Mammy.
Thanks to this song Boogie Nights has some of the best end credits EVER
I was listening to this song in 76, and I'm still listening in 2020. I'll be listening till the fire turns me to dust.
Dark Frost ELO IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BAND..👍
Me too :-D
Rock on. I was 5 the first time I heard it in my non-English speaking country.
Dark Frost
Dark Frost me too queen also love Jeff and. freddie
I turned 11 in 1976. My favorite gift was from my grandmother. She bought me an am/fm Panasonic clock radio(so that I could fall asleep to my music and have my very own ALARM CLOCK)(what can I say, I was 11 and it was a big deal, okay?)
I ran to my room and plugged it in, tuned it to my favorite rock station(WVMT in Colchester Vermont)(talk radio now) and the very first thing I heard was the violin intro to Livin Thing.
I am forever and always ELO's biggest fan.
I had the Panasonic Toot-A-Loop Radio! It went everywhere with me, on my bike, hanging off my jungle gym and on my shelf at night while I listened to ELO, Queen, Elton, ABBA- all the 70s pop gold. I actually want to buy a Toot-A-Loop on EBay!
Clock radios were big back then...don’t feel ashamed.
My dad was a DJ there for a number of years. What a small world. My how times have changed.

Hallo from germany, I do !!!!!!!
Jeff Lynne, the most underrated songwriter ever!
A KID GROWING UP DURING THE SUPER 70'S, AND I WAS A FAN OF ELO SINCE THEN. WHEN THEY CAME TO MY HOMETOWN, MY SISTER SAW THEM AND MET JEFF, BEV, HUGH , AND RICHARD. SUPER 70'S FOREVER. CLASS OF ROCKIN 84 HERE. ROCK ON SM!!!!.
Well what can i say if I still listening such a beautiful
Jeff Lynne is truely one of the greatest song writers of all time. Composing his style music for a whole orchestra is no mean feat!!
I never understood why The Idle Race were not the huge success they should have been. They had amazing songs and a sound all of their own, thanks to Jeff Lynne.
Jeff is amazing, but he didn't write the orchestral scores. That was Louis Clark, ELO's secret weapon.
I am 56 now and still get goosebumps when I hear this song! ❤

ROCK HALL OF FAME...It's more than time to induct Jeff Lynne as a solo artist like George, Ringo, Paul and John (They all were inducted as a band and solo artists). The great Jeff Lynne released his latest album in November of 2019 and was no. 1 on the UK chart. Jeff Lynne's ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA is still Touring! From 1972 to 1986 Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other group in the world. More than 50 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas and Stadiums. I saw them again in 2019 before the Pandemic on the North American Tour...( Best Concert of my life) All the reviews agree they are the best live Classical Rock Band still touring. Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius. ELO is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Jeff Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Song Writer award ( ASCAP ) 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. In October of 2020, Jeff Lynne has been made an officer of The Order Of The British Empire for his extraordinary contribution to music. He created the best Super Group of all time with his best friend George Harrison "The Traveling Wilburys". They asked Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan to join this amazing band. The Legends in the Music Industry call Jeff Lynne the best overall Musician ever and a Producer Extraordinaire. Jeff Lynne has written and produced many hit songs for music legends like George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Brian Wilson, Paul McCartney, Bryan Adams, Aerosmith, Del Shannon, the Everly Brothers, and so many others... A masterpiece!
That is astonishingly accurate. Bravo!

Throw in Air Supply THE CHURCH ICEHOUSE ETC. ELO WERE SO UNIQUE💓👌❤️
❤❤❤Jeff Lynne's ELO will be on Tour this Summer and Fall of 2024 for 32 concerts in North American cities. It's on my bucket list... I already bought my tickets for New York and Toronto.
Not sure why people call this band underrated. The millions of hits here show it's still popular over 40 years later. Great blend of upbeat, smooth & original rock-pop music. No one else sounds like ELO.
Neither I am, but I am quite distasted by the simple fact that they aren't Top 100 on the artists page in AcclaimedMusic.
But no, this band is not underrated. It has the right amount of attention, it's very popular, and they deserve it.
Maybe because mediocre performers like Randy Newman and Guns N’ Roses were being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while ELO got passed over year after year after year. Finally inducted in 2017.
@@avan5140 Yeah but since when do halls of fame matter as much as the true sound of music? (Clue: I'm not referring to the musicals with Julie Andrews or Mary Martin.) Popularity vs beauty. Well promoted or well composed. Catchy or soulful. Quantity vs quality. Expedience or thoughtfulness. Who listens to a song because it's at the top of the charts? If you do then you're listening to commercial radio or that latest promoter of artless trash, satellite radio. Listen to what YOU like. Enjoy music as a pure form of art. Listen to everything out here & decide for yourself what is good TO YOU.
they're very popular but not instantly recognizable in this generation. everyone knows who the beatles are, but people might not instantly recognize the name "electric light orchestra" they're still amazing though.
@@eliroblse Well, that is true.
Most Underrated Band in the History of music
Underrated? With the succes they had? One of the Beatless once said they would have evolved into something like ELO. Jeff Lynne also worked with George Harris, Roy Orbinson, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty so I wouldn’t call them underrated. Maybe their music was so special not everyone understands it or knows it but they sold millions of records and are an example for many artists.
Hard to say underrated when in R&R Hall of Fame lol
Hyperbole 101.

The cello the violin...amazing artistry
Yassss , higher and higher
Rock & Roll Genius!!
the studio time and effort must have been massive, I cant even imagine especially back then when it was all tape and much more laborious and time-consuming with no autotune or pro-tools, each take had to be perfect, every note had to be perfect or had to be done again. It's no wonder cocaine was so popular with studio work.

Jeff Lynne is one of the greatest living musicians of the modern music era. Made even better by his lack of publicity or his chasing of it.
And that is what Paul Mccartney said. Jeff and Paul are good friends and in an interview (at Jeff's house in the US), Paul said that ELO were what the Beatles would have become if they stayed together. Ringo Starr, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison were all friends, and could not speak more highly of Jeff.
Genius is often overused but in Jeff's case it's more than warranted.

Jeff Lynne is a musical genius.
A very smooth sounding band that had some great hits of the past, music today will never be the same as it was in the 70's & 80's.

I wasn't born until '67 and have loved them since I could first remember dancing with my Mom to them!!❤❤
Jeff's voice is multi-dimensional. I love his tonal qualities and phrasing. He has a George Harrison sound to his voice, sometimes. Especially here.

Partly because you are hearing Kelly mixed with Jeff...... as usual.......but quite a lot on this one.... but agreed that he can change as needed and is usually singing with a Harrison flavor......
I've said he sounded like George Harrison forever!!! That's so cool that I hear someone else say it.. I think on "Evil Woman" he sounds just like George at parts.
I hate myself when I feel like criying with this song
