I agree Joe. You are better off learning where the person is coming from before you can answer their objections. I le my life be m witness, and when necessary, use words. God bless Joe and CALive!

this is such a difficult situation to answer and help those discover the truth of Jesus’s church. I think one of the biggest challenges is to have the terminology understood between the two parties and a basis for reasoning that’s agreeable. Many of those who are troubled with the Catholic Church cannot reason well enough to follow the arguments that support how the church was formed and continues to develop through history. This is not helped by those who purposely misinform people about the history and make up stories to sell themselves as important

💯 It’s also how they are taught and told. You can run into a non-catholic, who genuinely wants to understand and you talk to them as a teacher to a kindergartner and build them up with the church fathers and early church writings and see what books made and what books didn’t and why. Take it as baby steps. Then there are the anti-Catholics who are just full of hate, by either taught or told things… and they come up to you and just unload on you. That’s when you can truly wake away just what Jesus said in the gospels.
All should be done with an act of faith, hope and charity with done with love in all three.

A good answer, and I think there is no single answer. I have been "informing" Protestant + atheist friends and relatives about all sorts of stuff, from miracles to great achievements, for years. To me, 2 verses seem relevant. First is forgive 70x7 - in this case no wrongdoing by anyone, but just obtuseness or situational. Or maybe it's me. But the second to bear in mind is "shake the dust off your sandals as you leave" - which is when it is "in bad faith" or mind closed tighter than submarine. So there is a bit of common sense involved.
