This is intriguing in my case as I am dealing with an old house with board sheathing, no house wrap and no vapor barrier. I could cut-n-cobble, I could spray foam 2” and batt the rest, but this appeals as more straightforward than cut-n-cobble, and potentially much cheaper than spray foam. The question would be coverage - how much it would take to cover something like a 20’ wall, 8’ tall, 16 OC framing, sheathed with 1x8 shiplap with 1/4” gaps…..
If you are planning on covering whole walls, we would actually recommend using a membrane for that. We have the advantages of each (including VISCONN) laid out in this blog post: foursevenfive.com/blog/weather-resistive-barrier-cheat-sheet/ If you do use VISCONN, covering larger areas is best to do with the 10L buckets applied with an airless sprayer. Each bucket covers ~170 ft2 when applied with airless sprayer, but gaps larger than 1/8" would need to be taped first. Reach out with drawings, photos, or details. Is there a battery powered version of the Aerofixx?
Not at this time - it is pneumatic only. That also contributes to the fact that it is a super lightweight and agile tool as well.
@@475.SUPPLY I just purchased this. Out of curiosity has this ever been used on Zip Systems instead of tape at joints? Use this over taping?
Can I use spray foam over this product?
that would be silly - why not just use spray foam alone then.
