Nice to see another SPF contractor using the knauf ECO seal plus. Works well for us as well. We also use the DAP air stop with great results. Thanks for the awesome video.
I have only ever called it caulk. Probably because I read it around the time I first used it as a kid reading the tube. It’s a subtle L, but it’s still there. I think it’s better with it.
Love your videos ! Very informative I had a question… is there a caulking brand that you can recommend for seam sealing that can be purchased at a Home Depot / Rona / Lowes… We had our home spray foamed from the outside after taking down the bricks and exposing the walls… the brands that are recommended here I’m having a hard time finding a store in the Toronto area that sells them.
We've done these jobs many times and all we did was have the sprayfoam guys do their thing then i get the insulator back in and caulk and poly all the walls then cut out all the centers ... way cheaper then buying barrels of i dont know what and the cost has to be crazy high ... Theres a market for what you do but its much smaller then the market that wants it done properly but not spend a crazy amount of money ... i mean its already expensive as it is
I need to know what kind of caulk that is. I'm trying to start my own insulation business, in montana. I've been watching your videos and trust your opinion on materials used.
Hello spray Jones I own a spray foam company for 5 years now and I been looking atvyour videos you do awesome work and I learn a lot from you and I been looking where to buy this blue spray silicone to add it to my business if you can help me I will appreciate it I am located in Texas
I'm a fan of all of those fluid-applied systems, but at least looking through Prosoco, they don't have a sealant that is able to be sprayed in that manner. If they offered a bucket of it in like manner as DAP or even this stuff here.
Have to be product specific. Baskin robbins..... plus building codes of: countries or states require different regs to comply to. So a lot to unpack for you. In Canada we have to meet the ULC S102 and 127 tests. They are pass/fail.
BS high pressure! You won't get between two nailed pieces of wood with that. If it's new construction put a a bead of caulk between two pieces of wood before nailing it together.
or a double bead, if you have the misfortune of having a client like me! :-) But, yes...gaps of .25" or more, spray it in, says i. small gaps won't get insulated this way.
stanley siewierski yup. This series wont last its just a commercial for some new idea (sponsors). Id like to see a guy (who actually builds) and this guy Im not so sure - try a product and procedure then test it and rate it regardless of who is funding his video. Most of these air seal and waterproofing strategies I ve found to be crazy expensive with a far less expensive (& usually better) alternative.
@@hubertbardin Tar paper doesn't seal. I'd go with an external sealing method and try not to have sheathing seams land on these bunched up studs. A lot of companies now have integrated WRB and air sealing like ZIP System and LP System. This is just a belt and suspenders approach.

Your applying it so incorrectly it's hard for me to watch that man waste so much material, second problem is seeing the gun jam over and over. Most likely a oversized tip try using a 517 and run at 1400- 2000 psi depending on ur spray machine
Tom Foolery EcoSeal from Knauf! Owens uses a different color and the batch is not as good as the Knauf batches. There's a more economical way to use this product and at 200+ bucks per 5 gallon bucket its not cheap for sure. I had the gun jams first time using this stuff and worked out the kinks over time and can create Air tight barriers using far less material. But hey what do I know? Cheers back at ya guys good luck.
Wow this seems like a waste of time and money I just use acoustical sealant in thick passes then cover it with plastic strips (it sticks right to it no staples needed) that way when the drywall gets screwed down it forces the acoustical sealant into the seams. Don’t believe me? Try it yourself then remove the drywall and have a look
I dont like you not saying where you get it from. I would like to know if the product is safe. I get it, you you're greedy and can't tell all the secrets because a few pennies might not make into your pocket if people could do their selves. I could see it if you invented the product. But you didnt.
@@SprayJones haha. I know. Im sure it wouldnt be too crazy to figure out. I was just being pissy for no reason last night. In all honesty, i like the quality work you do. And I do appreciate the direction your video pointed me.
Houses need to breath. Sealing a house this tight will cause problems in the future and the HVAC contractor will have to install a fresh air vent so the resident won't be breathing bad air. Yes house need to be insulated from radiant heat and cold but not like this.
Dummy squad, don't you think people go out of the house on a daily basis? As in going to the grocery store and pharmacy? Taking out the trash? Kids leaving the door open? Wonder how they get out? Bet they cut a hole in the roof right??
When HVAC system comes on it needs to change out the air in the whole house. Going in and out doors doesn't allow enough air to come in the house. Unless you know what your talking about please keep your words to yourself. Homes are built to tight and cause mold issues. Insulate well but don't do too much.
HCAC BUILD when doing new construction the foam contractor usually works with the hvac contractor to install the proper unit. Usually cutting the tonnage by 1/3 Or more and bringing in fresh air. But you are right if you seal it tight and the hvac contractor hasn't installed the right system for foam it will cause many issues

You're the first person I've heard pronounce the "L" in caulk.
Because immature people were mocking the sound of "cock". Just imagine I have a bBitish accent.. :)
@@SprayJones just refer to it as caulking. sounds odd the way you say it, fyi. still, cool product/process.

I love the music!

what product are you using? eco seal?
Put some plastic on those windows. Prepping a house properly is very important before you spray. Good luck.

Eco Seal by Knauff
what can an Ontario homeowner use for spray-on caulk. Apparently DAP Airstop is not available in Canada. ...
None. Use caulking in tubes.

Knauf Eco Seal
It doesn't look like drywall will nicely go over those globs of eco seal.
Get flattened out with a putty knife, pressed into the joint. We're not stupid...

Knauf EcoSeal

What kind of gun are you using?
Titan airless.
Just use one of the many fluid applied products. Prosoco, Polywall, DuPont, etc. They all have seam sealers that come in sausage packs.
I'm a fan of all of those fluid-applied systems, but at least looking through Prosoco, they don't have a sealant that is able to be sprayed in that manner. If they offered a bucket of it in like manner as DAP or even this stuff here.

what the name the balack caulk used between studs?
That is a PU Flex type sealant, polyurethane based.

Graco 1095. The big stuff.
One that stops working every 5 seconds obviously
5 years later, EcoSeal is no longer a special import. There's several distributors all over the place.

why not use traditional insulation? like isover or any similar brand
You can't say where you're getting it from? why not? Is there some kind of trade embargo you're violating!? seems pretty sketchy to me
Because the manufacturer is not paying me to promote their product. Why give them free advertising??
Knauf eco seal
It's to stop other companies from using it and probably to not let the customer know how much they pay for the product.
