@@xdreampcs8554 Absolutely! I am terrible with money and spend it on anything shiny if it will improve my life a little bit. I have seen zero reason to upgrade and am waiting for the Ryzen 8-series to see if it will be worth it then.
The 5850x3d used is a better buy for gaming if the difference between 120 and 150fps in some titles are important to you.

Thanks for pointing that out. I found this video looking for the performance increase ill be seeing going from my current 3900x to a 7800x3d. I'm building a new system, only keeping my RTX 3070ti from my current build. It didn't even occur to me that the power draw could possibly be almost half while also giving such a big boost to fps in most scenarios.

i just did the switch 3900x => 7800x3D , main reason was i need some parts for my plex server (and the 3900x will do an amazing job for that) , but i clearly see the différence ingame with à 1440p , fps are more smooth and i can lock fps for less power consomption for uncompétive game. temps are way beter in my itx pc gaming too. not disapointed by the swap.

@@wldkhn456 yes now I will use my 7800x3d only for gaming and I took the 3900x for my server ( docker/plex/etc ).

@@MakeSh00t More than 100 fps in most games. In addition, the comparison was in 2k and without ray-tracing. Personally, I bought 4080 for 4k with ray-tracing and VR.
5800x3D has fewer cores and is worse for non-gaming tasks, 5900x is almost the same as 3900.
7800x3d is better, but not cheap and requires a new mobo - it's unnecessarily expensive, especially for 4k gaming.

3900x is still very capable, but the 4080 is almost too powerful for it. It's just hanging on trying not to bottleneck it. Maybe a 4070ti or 6700xt/6800xt would be more appropriate if you own a 3900x and only want to upgrade the GPU.

Yea the 3900x is still an amazing cpu but you will see big gains on gaming going from 3900x to 5800x3d. 5800x3d even beats 14900k in some gaming scenarios. 4070 super is a very strong gpu so especially if you play at 1080p or even normal 1440p and you dont want to upgrade your platform then the 5800x3d is literally your savior.
