  • This is an instructional video of how to increase your Artemis CP2 fps. This is a simple process and with satisfying results.
    It will cost you basically nothing to do this upgrade just a small hard rubber washer OD=10mm Thickness=4mm. These washers are available as a "tap seat washer". this can be trimmed to size with a sharp knife.
    Enjoy the video and happy shooting.😉

    I did the tests with chrono before and after on 5 mm spacer, .22 cal riffle kit. In short words I don’t recommend it. Power is unstable. While on normal spring I had almost flat graph on any pellet, then on tweaked spacer I had more power firstly but at the end it was less then on stock. Started with 14.5J and dropped gradually What is more on regular spring I can shot 5-6 mags, then on tweaked spring only 4. Power increase wasn’t spectacular, actually the average was 12.38J while stock of that same amount of shots was 12.09J. I suspect that bouncing spring might bounce valve as well and open valve slightly at the closed valve position or so and it only wastes co2. So this mod does almost nothing. It might be maybe sometimes effective on increased chamber volume or mod to pcp or so. Otherwise it seems that time that valve is open doesn’t need tweaking nor does almost anything but lessens number of shots significantly, breaks stability and might break even valve by stronger hitting of hammer. I went back to normal and will maybe drill chamber a bit, but not touch port, again it probably will do nothing and is a one way ticket. Increased volume of chamber is reversible by making some tubing or spacer etc.

      Thanks for your feedback and your assessment is correct. I will give more power but lower shot count. It is also less consistent than the standard arrangement. If you can balance it out with more volume in the valve it does perform better

    One thing, how is it built, that after hammer strike, the piston goes back and closes the valve? Actually hammer is pressing against the valve pin. I assume hammer is touching that firing pin but that small spring in valve is making piston close. But if bigger spring was too strong then piston wouldn't never close?I have fresh Chaser 5.5 ;) but I didn't disassemble it yet.

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well there is a small gap between the hammer and the valve stem, when the trigger is released the hammer flies forward and knocks the valve stem allowing the valve to open. Inside the valve it is the pressure from the gas which keeps the valve closed, yes the small spring does play a role in keeping everything alogned but not much in keeping the valve closed

  • @aldo7255
    @aldo7255 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just tried a mod like this in my cp2 .22, you should have put the ring on the opposite side of the spring, in my case I created a ring of plastic of 5 mm wide and I inserted it in such black finger ,this increased the speed a lot but now there is a recoil produced by the strong impact of the hammer against the valve , I'm not sure if this is convenient to keep it permanent due the strong impact could damage the valve, plus this give me only 35 shoots, the spring btw is 70 mm long, I don't stretch it or anything like that
    I think the ideal ring should be something like 3 mm wide or so
    anyways I estimated now is shooting around 600-620 fps with 14 grains pellets in the first 15 shoots or so
    I had to correct the elevation in the scope because now is shooting around 30 mm higher all the different pellets which I tried
    and now 16 grains pointed pellets can pass through a plastic can full of 5 litres of water, something that before this mod they could not, and even now wad cutters or domed pellets can't can go through and out
    I'm reconsidering the pointed pellets for hunting due to the high penetration power, thanks for the idea. of this mod ,btw

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Aldo glad the idea helped you. It will definitely add a little to the recoil it will also make your trigger a little harder/tighter because there is more tension on the hammer spring. Happy modifying and shooting. Just a note penetration is your friend if accuracy is dead on

    • @JohnDoe-el5ir
      @JohnDoe-el5ir ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And what about accuracy? That recoil actually is not an usual recoil and probably happens before pellet leaves the barrel. So whole pistol moves before the shot. Isn’t it?

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Recoil can affect accuracy but mainly due to the shooter flinching because he is expecting the recoil. However with just 5mm of spacer the extra recoil won't be that substancial. Oh and the recoil needs to be consistent which I don't think will be an issue in this case

    Was the diameter of your washer greater than 10mm initially and if so how did you cut it down? Does it need to be precise or it is enough that it just fits in and edges don't have to be perfect?

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It doesn't need to be 100% precise but you do want the spring to at least sit level. The OD of the spacer is 10mm then it will fit inside the hammer. You will loose some shot count, between 5 and 10 shots and you should get around 7-10% fps gain

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner

    Very interested in your thoughts.

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Bob Andrews you can modify your Chaser, you won't be sorry. The nice thing about the mod I done is it is completely reversable. If you're not happy just remove the spacer, no harm no foul. To answer your question, there is 2 ways to increase the fps without having to make irreversible changes. 1. Increase the tension in the hammer spring or 2. Decrease the tension in the valve spring either mod allows for the valve to be open slightly longer, thus allowing more gas to pass through thus allowing more gas at the back of the pellet thus more fps. The mod I have done increases the tension in the hammer spring, it is quite a common mod which is done on the crosman 2240/2250, also some PCP's come with a fps adjustment screw. This works on the same principle, if screw it in, you are pre-tensioning the hammer spring which allows the valve to be open slightly longer.

    • @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner
      @African-Budget-Pellet-Gunner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Bob Andrews Yes, it is definitely possible to do both upgrades. You should just know that your shot count will drop considerably. With the mod I done, I had a 10% fps increase but a 25% decrease in shot count. If you do both mods I think you will be looking at a shot count of maybe 10-15 shots per co2 capsule. I will also try to do a video next week to discuss the fps mod possibilities. I also suspect your returns will start to diminish due to the pressure available in a co2 capsule. With regards to hunting raccoons I am not sure I think it may be a little bit of push. I have taken doves and squirrels with my current setup but nothing bigger than that.
