Hey i know this is 8 years old, but I appreciate the video my man! Now that VF is coming back, this video is gonna help out a lot of newcomers like myself. Thanks and take care!!!
I wasn't into fighting games not called street fighter until way after the dark ages So happy to be playing this now I got the dlc right away I would love to see vf6 or this with rollback soon!
Best fighting game ever. The only problem is hard to pull off the moves you have in mind. It needs 1 month of intense practising to get used to VF mechanics. A 3button game, but a nightmare to master.
frames is a measurement of time, so more = slower. the game runs at 60 frames a second, so for example a move that takes 30 frames to come out is taking 1/2 a second to come out. 15 frames would be 1/4th a second, etc.
At first I was like “this dude knew ultimate showdown was dropping 8yrs ago and didn’t say shyt” but then realized he just edited the title and knew it would be relevant to bring back up again.
@@kumiliarostreamsarchives3079 Same here, im just glad its back to see the light of day again, it feels gr8 to be back and now the next step is to get VF6 happening, we just gotta get VFUS rolling

I really appreciate you spending all the time creating this tutorial video. Honestly though, as much as I tried to pay attention, I found my mind wandering like it did in 3rd year Complex Analysis and staring through the screen with my mouth hanging open. I don't consider myself a stupid person but this game takes dedication and video game technicalities to another level. I so want to get good at this but I've already paid for a university education and can't afford another degree. Perhaps I'll just have to watch it all again...and again. And again. I should add that I've finished the tutorial mode and am aware of the basic syntax that is being used in this video. I played online for the first time the other day and felt like a cripple in a Mongolian cage fight. I was trying things like "offensive manoeuvre" and "up and punch" (on a downed opponent), although I do forget to guard a lot of the time and the second I remembered, I got thrown. I guess I just had to lol, and keep trying, but then I noticed no one wanted to waste their time playing against me and couldn't find any matches. Don't worry, I'll persist, and come back to kick ass one day.

This video is sick, the casual nature of the editing actually adds to it for me. It feels like 2012 while watching this. Keen to use this knowledge to get better at VF
Casual Virtua Fighter player here. Til I got into fighting games seriously, VF was the only fighting game I played. By the time I wanted to learn for real VF was dead so I played what my friends were playing. Now that VF5US is out, this really helps me get back into VF like I never left. I should add some French subtitles for people who don't understand english very well ( here in France we are really really bad in english) Found someone to translate it in spanish portugese etc.. You deserve to work for Sega , I can't stop playing that game now. Thanks a lot!
Every 3D fighting game should have a tutorial like this. I watched this a few years ago when Final Showdown came out, as I'm mainly a Tekken player. This was really insightful.

@@matthewlugo2417 VF5>FS>R R probably would be the best if it didn't have so many balance issues. It's the only VF game since vf2 with issues like this.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I watched some high level play, picked my main Jean/Jacky, and just went to work with the knowledge I have of fighting games. Got my butt kicked for a few days, but after training against a friend, flew up to Guardian rank in a few days. With my defense lacking though, I hit that wall, and stopped progressing against good players. This video will improve my game dramatically, I knew my defense sucked arse, and this proves it. Fuzzy Guard, evade throw FTW!
Great video. I don't play the game (don't have a console at the moment, otherwise I would), but it was very enlightening about VF (and the design mechanics of 3D fighters in general) so I ended up watching the whole thing!
The SoA vids are really good, in that they give you general break down of the characters, and then show it in a match. Also VFDC aka virtuafighter(.) com is another good place to go.
If every fighting game came with a professionally edited video introduction with this quality of content we'd have twice the playerbase we do now, easily.
That’s what I’m saying, pay for it to double up as an in depth lesson and marketing for the game, also how come like hype announcement trailers can’t be unlocked in gallery
Sadly the game is under the radar again, but I'm trying to pick it up and was looking for a normal tutorial that's not from the Remaster Era in 2021. The first 5 seconds and im hooled. Thanks bro.
You can side-step the 2P in VF as well, you can also buffer an Elbow after immediatley after you block it. 2P is good at low-level play since people's reactions aren't good or they still don't understand the the VF system. There are also crush moves(introduced in VF4?) as well. There are a lot of options to deal with 2P and every situation in the game.
I don't play this game, but i added this on the grounds it's badass and a bunch of work was put into this. I'm sure it will help me learn fighters even better.
Wow. didn't know the guy behind the homogenius vids I loved had was super knowledgeable on VF. Thanks. I really wanna learn this game and this helps so much.
SoCal crew is still doing WNF, despite what you read at EventHubs and other places. The turn-outs aren't that big but they do recordings and post them up, as they haven't been as consistent with the streaming for a little bit. ZeroLovesDnb is the YT where they have recordings and VFDC is where they usually do a head count to see how many people will show. They are doing a E3 meet up as well next Wed.
You're supposed to know by paying attention to where the match is going. Also take in consideration, which direction (usually back or forward) has there most damgaing throws and which ones are good for position change. Against Jean, I always break forward (if I happen to find myself at -10) because that's where his most damaging throws come from. I only break back, when his back is against the wall or end of the stage since that's position switch throw for him.
mate I honestly have to thank you for this video, mainly the bit about beating down punch, ive just started playing virtua fighter and the one thing that keeps breaking me is peoples desperate down punch, it aint like tekken where u can just low parry or guess side step. I went into practice and seen all the nasty stuff u can get off -5 frames especially goh. So im guessing any move thats -5 and over gets a 17 frame move or less gaurnteed if that person does anything after ? and thank you again
For the most part it's pretty cool, especially at the website. Just don't berate yourself and make sure to read the Wiki and Glossary before asking questions. If you still have questions after reading them just ask for clarification. Small communties like VF have assholes/griefers, but there are generally more people willing to help than hinder. Sega Cup was awesome and no one cared about the trolls that were there as everyone was just down to kick it/put faces to SN's and play offline VF!

I think you should have mentioned about Open Stages and juggling someone out of the ring. Like sometimes you're juggling someone but since they're airborne and haven't fallen at a certain height, they're not "ringed out." But, since you keep moving forward in your combo and your foot happens to step forward to much, you're considered ringed out first although the opponent's character was floating outside of the ring for a little while. I'd say it's a common mishap at lower levels. Thanks yo.
