My father loved this song. He passed away in June last year. Today I was working on his house fixing it up for the first time since his passing. While playing music on my aux cord my car randomly switched to the radio station which has never happened before and the aux cord did not disconnect. I believe this was him giving me a sign to listen to this song and know that he’s there and proud of what I’m doing for my family.

There is no denying that Bruce Springsteen's Hungry Heart is an exceptional piece of music that has been revered and adored by countless fans for many years. The song's captivating melody and poignant lyrics have struck a chord with listeners from all walks of life, resonating with them on a deep and personal level. It is a testament to Springsteen's unparalleled songwriting ability that he is able to create such a timeless and universally beloved piece of art. From the first note to the last, Hungry Heart is an immersive and emotional journey that leaves an indelible mark on all who experience it. Whether you are a die-hard Springsteen fan or simply a lover of great music, there is no denying the power and beauty of this iconic song.
I remember when my Mom bought the album in a department store. I was 8 years old. Those days are long gone but I'll always cherish the memorable times.
The first time that I saw Bruce in concert, he started Hungry Heart and the crowd sang the entire song and Bruce let it happen just strumming his guitar!

Over the years, I've only liked a few or more of his songs, this being my favorite. Mainly, because of the first few opening lines, along with the beautiful music. This song has forever been a treasure piece in my heart and mind.

I saw him a few months ago in Las Vegas for his concert. Wonderful...incredible!! I remember my sister going to his concert when I lived in St Etienne (France) over 40 years ago and not telling my parents. My father was waiting for her behind the door and gave her a good thrashing. That's how I got to know Bruce Springsteen. My sister forgave my dad and me too. ❤
Several years ago, I had an unusual dream. In the dream, Bruce was using a wireless mic & he walked up to the 'cheap seats' where I was sitting. I tried to sing along with Bruce on this song---but unfortunately, I made Bruce go 'off key' due to him hearing my poor singing ability. The entire venue of fans groaned at me for messing up the song!!! I was very embarrassed & I'm glad it was just a dream!
Indeed! I graduated in 1983, and the 80s were the best decade of my life. There was great music and concerts every single month of the year, and if I wasn't winning tickets on the radio to go see them for free, the ticket prices were cheap enough to see many in one year. Every band was great, and the music was phenomenal.

I don't think that it was meant to be a feel-good song. If you listen to the words, the guy in the song is a very unhappy, lonely and desperate person who lives with the shame and pain of having abandoned his wife and kids; and yet wont go back home to reconcile with them, and instead goes to bars to drink and meet women for yet more empty short term relationships as a way of escaping his feeling guilty.

I have never been married and its very lonely at times over the years. This song gives me comfort when I'm down to know that even those who are in relationships also get very lonely sometimes (misery loves company). This one and Bob Seegers We've got Tonight, "I know your plans don't include me, still here we are, both of us lonely", really resonates.
Timeless "Everybody needs a place to rest. Everybody wants to have a home. Don't make no difference what nobody says. Ain't nobody like to be alone." ✌️💜
I have never seen a musician with more energy. Back in August of 2016 my boyfriend and I saw him at MetLife in Rutherford NJ. The man played for 4 hours nonstop.
This song reminds me of my father and the last Christmas before my parents split up. He tried to fill his emptiness with drugs and it broke our family apart. I didn't know it at the time but I can say today that Jesus Christ is the only thing that can truly fill a hungry heart.
@seancrippen2167, you got that right. I never was able to have a relationship with my dad because vietnam messed him up so bad. My heart has ALWAYS been broken due to that until i let Jesus in.
You are so right Sean, I'm one of those fathers who let destroy my family. At 31 years clean only by the grace of God. Take the weight off your shoulders and forgive him, my boy's did. It's a sickness your dad didn't ask for, he was born genetically predisposed to it. Hate the sickness not your dad please! Your friend Bill
I left that out, I was into the army and wound up in the hell of Vietnam . Your dad saw things no human being should see let alone a 19 year old. My parents told me they took a young boy to the airport and picked up a 100 year old man. I flew home with enough smack on me to jail me for 30 years. Anyone who has been in combat is never the same. He served with pride and dignity and like so many of us. Used drugs to cope with 18 months of terror and lost part of his soul along the way. I pray he's doing well today god bless the both of you. Bill
This song is like a hymn to me! I brings me back in time, of a good time, with unforgetable people. If I could trade two years of my life now to go one year back in past and see them again, I would! (I feel also so happy for having this modest but so important hearing ability.)
I'm reading Steve's book. He accepts credit for encouraging Bruce to finish this one, insisting that the drums be elevated to CRACK!! proportions, devising the key change for the instrumental, and speeding it up to near-Chipmunk proportions (he was nearly laughed out of town, but held his ground). The vocals have this real unique 'thinness' that contributed to its listenability.
In Bruce's autobiography, he writes that women, until this song, were pretty much absent from his concerts. However, after "Hungry Heart," women started showing up.
Dimitry Raskolnikov it’s because before then he figured it wasn’t fair other men had to compete with him for women. Then he realised “fuck it, I’m Bruce Springsteen” and made this work of art
This song was playing on my best friends radio when I found him in a fatal car accident way back in 1980. It still gives me chills to listen to it. He was just 17. RIP ol friend. GBNF
Uauuu .... es increíble, me ha aparecido esta canción de manera casi mágica. He visto la portada del LP que tenía un amigo en los 80... y al comenzar a escucharla... era mi canción favorita de Bruce. Me encanta. Gracias 😊.
some years ago I took my non-rocker best friend to a Springsteen concert. She always knew me as a quiet sort, maybe not giving up much. The band hit the opening riff to Hungry Heart and I jumped up and started dancing. She was dumbfounded. Some people in the upper tiers unfurled a banner that said something like "Lesbians love Bruce." He shouted back "I love you, too!. " I'm a straight woman, but this song struck a chord in so many people. There is something that hits all of us in our true selves.

@@debbiedelgado2877 such a feel good song from 1980 yeah
I’m just a 28 year old with great musical taste 😊
Grew up to Springsteen and saw him in concert. Appreciate his music more then ever. Thank you Bruce!!
We fall in love with this song 4years ago.
And now we play this song for our daughter every sunday night.
Thank you Bruce for this wonderful song.
J'aime beaucoup cette chanson. Elle me donne beaucoup des émotions et souvenirs...💓💓
Just got this on vinyl! It’s still in good condition after so many years.
I have never seen a musician with more energy. Back in August of 2016 my boyfriend and I saw him at MetLife in Rutherford NJ. The man played for 4 hours nonstop.
Now folks, this is what I call real music.
Yes !
Exactly
Hell yea!!
For real...
Same
This song reminds me of my father and the last Christmas before my parents split up.
He tried to fill his emptiness with drugs and it broke our family apart.
I didn't know it at the time but I can say today that Jesus Christ is the only thing that can truly fill a hungry heart.
God Bless You Always My Dear Friend! Praise Jesus!
No Jesus, it's Satan that has the power to nourish, Hell that fills the hungry heart.
Bill
This song took on a different meaning to me when I was 46.
Every hungry feeling has a hungry heart!
I love that song
His best vocal performance.
This song is like a hymn to me! I brings me back in time, of a good time, with unforgetable people. If I could trade two years of my life now to go one year back in past and see them again, I would! (I feel also so happy for having this modest but so important hearing ability.)
There's nothing better than a Bruce Springsteen song.
Except, lots of other songs, LOL.
John Lennon in his last interview called this single "a great record".
Hmm when this song came out John was dead
@@MimounSpecialist-z8q No. The song was released in October of 1980. John was murdered two months later in December of 1980.
Serieus?. Sorry didn’t know that.
One of my favourites, heard this first in November 1981......loved it ever since ❤
She stills hold a place in my heart. I dreamed about her last night!
Kathleen I think this is Bruce's best vocal performance
Think you could be right there Ricky
this came out in 1980. before he was murdered, john lennon told springsteen he liked the song.
One of his best tunes the best line "Don't make no difference what nobody says
Ain't nobody like to be alone"
Can hear the youthfulness in his voice
Love Bruce singing this beautiful song. ❤ Always
That intro.
Vastly under rated song by Springston....One of my favorites...
@@cheyennebrennan966 Yes amazing song and underrated..
@@jimshoe6699 this song is no way 'underrated', underplayed, maybe, but definitely not underrated.
Underplayed... I today just heard it on the radio 📻 before pulling up to my house
Definitely the best song in my time 🤗❤️🎶
from 1980 i just keep playing this classic song and its 2022 yeah
@@MrPizza063and now it's 2024 still playing it❤
This song was playing on my best friends radio when I found him in a fatal car accident way back in 1980. It still gives me chills to listen to it. He was just 17. RIP ol friend. GBNF

I could never believe this was Bruce springsteen because he has a really deep voice
Apparently they sped it up for a higher register in the voice
@@PerryCoxPF93 hmmmm I didn't know that
@@PerryCoxPF93 The producer learned "the trick" of raising the pitch of a vocal from Brian Wilson!
The first song my husband played for us ! I had it at his funeral in 2021 We love Bruce's Springsteen music !
Eu simplesmente amo essa música, minha preferida ❤️
I think this is Springsteen's best song, love it
I think this is his best vocal performance.
I agree:-)
Uauuu .... es increíble, me ha aparecido esta canción de manera casi mágica.
This song bruce wrote for the ramones they said nah it sounds like a bruce Springsteen song they were right!!! Timeless!!!!
Thank goodness, the Ramones wouldn't have done a better version than this one
@@johnspinelli9396 hearing it in my head like yeah it wouldn't have sounded good. But the only song that sounds good from the ramones is from Tom watts song I don't want to grow up both very cool.
