    What panel do you have on the XPS plus?

    I use the Dell XPS 13 PLUS with 2 external monitors and love the compact powerhouse it provides for my WFH setup! Not sure why most people are having issues with this particular laptop. I work in cybersecurity and have been using the laptop daily for over 2 months now with no issues!

      Because you can’t ask for 2000 euro on laptop with a battery of 2 hours! Also plenty of other problems. It’s defective product which should never be allowed to be on the market at the first place. The only good thing is the design. The test it’s shit. M2 is killing this laptop from any side!

    You could have tested the performance gains in higher-end SKUs - The Dell has 4K and i7 options, the Mac has significant improvements to RAM and SSD speeds in the pricier models.

    For one simple reason I think that the MacBook is the better choice. And that is longevity. I currently own a very powerful dell laptop (G5 with the i9-8950HK), and despite being very happy with it, after 3.5 years it shows signs that it is close to the end of its lifecycle as my main computer to count on. Unexpected shutdowns happen here and there, the fans are very loud even on minor loads and the OS eats up the RAM like crazy. And that's for a big beefy gaming laptop not a super thin one. I think that a super thin laptop would be even more limited. I think my next purchase is going to be the MacBook air M2 to replace the dell, which is then to remain at home and serve as a remote server for as long as it lasts. I wouldn't trust a windows machine for a thin and light laptop given the loads the software puts even on gaming laptops with beefy cooling. (Plus, I kind of can't wait to get a new laptop and put linux on the G5 and see the i9 properly stretch its legs there :P )

    If you get the Core i7 and the high resolution display on the Dell, you're up to the same price as the 14" MacBook Pro, which is way faster.

    • @AppleInsider
      @AppleInsider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that’s the thing. If you want that ultra portable size it isn’t bad though! Much smaller with the performance of a larger machine!

    My wife and I used Windows computers exclusively since the mid-nineties, and she still does. I switched over to the Mac world few years ago, just to try something new more than anything else, and these days I'm team Apple. So the choice here is an easy one for me, that M2 MBA.

    Simple for me never going back to Windows after the move away from Windows 10. Microsoft stated Windows 10 was going to be the last version of Windows.
    Going to stick with macOS/UNIX(XUN), and Apple M series SOC's.

    • @samgod
      @samgod ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can you elaborate on "Microsoft stated Windows 10 was going to be the last version of Windows"?
      That makes no sense. Windows is Microsoft's' largest revenue source and it's released Win11 since. What did it mean by that announcement?

      Windows 12 is on the way already. You got your facts wrong. Microsoft said at some point that windows 10 will be the last of them but then they change their mind as it’s the best revenue for them.

      No, I use both and do more test but try to keep things simple. Especially for an ultra-light laptop it’s more usability than strenuous tasks. FWIW the i7 wins out easily!

      They can't, yet. Neither Intel nor AMD are even close to Apple Silicon's power consumption figures. It's probably impossible to achieve with the x86 architecture. It's just a matter of time until everyone will switch to ARM. Right now it is just like with everything PC/Windows: milking the cash cow for as long as possible.

    I have an i7 Dell XPS Plus and am quite happy with it. I love that it has a clean minimalist look. The keyboard, the touchpad and the touchpad all were intuitive and it did not take me any time to get used to them. (I had a XPS 13 before). My only issue is battery life sucks, but I did go for a OLED touch display and have the computer charged most times so its not a huge issue. The reason why I did not go for a MacBook? Mac's are not as repairable as compared to Dells. They simply lock you into an expensive service plan and replace half the computer rather than the specific part. Dell offers home visits, that apple does not. And come on apple, please get rid of the notch at the top of the screen already.

    What amazes me its that even after so many years windows based laptops can’t even have decent battery life still. They are light years away from Apple. Even Huawei who have really good battery life for smart phones can’t get more than 2-5 hours battery life on the matebooks.
    It’s quite unbelievable how you cannot apply same system as for the smart phone battery.
    So unbelievable that I may suspect that windows based laptop’s companies they run a big scam in order to milk more money from costumers by force them to buy every 1-2 a new device.
    There is no way you can tell me in 10+ they haven’t been able to figure out a longer battery life than 20 years ago. Apple may milk money from people but at least they give you devices that can last for at least 10 years without problems. Windows laptops they crush already after 2-3 years max.
