I’ve always loved the XPS line because it does a better job than most of competing with Apple in terms of design and build quality but they are not MacBook clones. Dell uses their own design that you won’t mistake for anything else.

I use the XPS 13 Plus for work. One port goes to the eGPU with 3070 Ti and then to the monitor over displayport, the other port goes to thunderbolt dock built into my monitor for ethernet and extra ports. Sleek and powerful setup!
thats a really bad idea, the display signal has to go through both ports now and will steal almost all of your thunderbolt bandwith. better connect the monitor to the egpu via displayport.

I used to use an XPS 13 with a 7th gen cpu, 16 gb ram, 512 ssd and 4k display and although it was a very capable machine it just couldnt keep up with my workflow. I am a developer and I often need to build projects locally and have many VMs and emulators running with a lot of browsers and not to mention docker for desktop too. The problem with these things is that they are too thin to do real work on them for too long. The CPU ends up overheating and throttling over long durations of work which is a pain. This is why Apples M1 macbooks are far superior than any windows ultrabook at the moment because of the better heat management. Still prefer the design of this and also prefer Windows 11 over mac os.
a good windows laptop which is better, Is the Lenovo Slim 7 pro x. has a ryzen 9 6900hs, RTX 3050, 32 gb of ddr5 6400 MHz ram, 1tb nvme ssd, and 2 usb c 3.2, and 2 usb a ports, and a headphone jack. Also has a 3k 120hz display. It's slim and quiet. I own this and a MacBook Air. This thing only costed me 1300 dollars. Much cheaper than an XPS and it's much better.
I bet you can find a windows laptop with a 12th gen cpu that can keep up with the workload that is for your job. There is quite a difference now from 7th to 12th with the amount of cores and such.
XPS does look really good. But I hope they can have a 14 inch version for an even bigger screen and better cooling space. Good for pairing with an eGPU.
Honestly, I only bought my xps 13 9315 because of color, design and, the price I found it for which was $900.00 open box at bestbuy. The config is the 32GB ram with 1TB SSD. I couldnt pass it up and tbh I loveee how this laptop works and looks. I mean having a usb c port on each side is a God send compared to what Apple does with their MBA. Good video!
Just ordered my third one of these... first one had a dent in the chassis, second one had a display issue where there was a white shadow on the right side of the display (the UHD+ LCD, not the OLED which has adhesive issues apparently). I hope the next one is fine, I really do, it is such a nice laptop!!!
@@tech_realm Yeah, first one I didn't even turn on, the second one did have noticeable coil whine, a lot for a laptop but not to a point where it bothers me too much, you have to have your ear 20 cm from the laptop to really hear it. Fan noise I thought was impressive given it was dissipating 40W continuously and it was MUCH quieter than my 13" Intel MacBook Pro at lower processor power.
We have Dell xps at work and I've completely lost trust in Dell's reliability. My first laptop (got 3 years ago) started crashing randomly after a year, most probably memory issues. Replaced. The other one started shutting down randomly after around 6 months. Replaced. The next one (new out of the box) had issues with trackpad (just lagging / hanging). Replaced. The other one out of the box had screen issues (dead pixels). Replaced and insisted on getting a mac. No issues since staying on an M1 Pro.

Windows 11 releases updates aggressively and older drivers do not work sometimes. I got lucky because ASUS released a camera driver within a week. Laptops are getting tonnes of negative reviews. It appears its due to Windows updates and memory intense background services. Its time that manufactures demand that Microsoft fix these problems.
Quality Control on this laptop has been pretty bad with even having on-display units at Best Buy having their display panels literally falling off. This alongside a ton of other people encountering issues with it makes it not that of a recommendable laptop honestly. Get something like the ThinkPad Z13, Spectre 13.5, Yoga 9i 14, Zenbook S 13/14X for something equally as premium without QC issues.

QC is also pretty bad, the model we received has light bleeding around the edges of the screen, and the computer gets super hot during normal use. Battery life also sucks. Lucky to get 4 hours with battery saver on.

Comparing it to the macbook air m2, I think it has a better keyboard and is similar in almost all other ways except for maybe having a touchscreen. So I think it would be a solid buy if you choose the samsung galaxy book 2 360

The laptop looks amazing, but the thermals and power-hungry P series chips really ruin the experience.

I will buy this.The webcam on here is really good. I got the hp 360 spectre for 1200$ for college. When I had virtual class and got on camera, i was highly disappointed. You would think paying 1200$ for a laptop would get you high quality on a laptop.

I bought my new xps 13 last month, comes with a defect where the brightness didn’t work. Call the technical team and spend 2-3 hours at midnight with no solution. Try to return the laptop, but they didn’t response positively and said i can’t ask for a refund.. what a shame on a great product but comes with a very bad customer service. Just dont buy it, try to check trustpilot rating in europe and you will see 1 star rating :)
I have a XPS 13” (touch infinity edge 16gb ram) that I purchased 5 years ago- still operates like a champ and in good-excellent condition. The only issue I had was the battery got too hot and swelled. Which was easy to replace. What I don’t like about the model you’re showing is that it has only two type c ports. If I had to replace my laptop I would definitely go with the XPS 13” touch.
I have the previous iteration of XPS 13. Would not have bought it without the headphone port. I use it all the time. Won't buy a phone, tablet, laptop without it.

Best Buy has had these on display for over a month or two. Surprise he’s just getting around to reviewing it. There was a recall on them. Design flaw. I believe the screens were separating from the unit. Something along those lines.
Too bad... No 90hz - 120hz OLED display. I'd love to connect a graphic card to this via USB-C but the screen refresh rate is too slow. C'mon dell. Its almost 2023. Give us at minimum 90hz OLED.

Its obvious you can connect it via usb c thats why I mentioned it to begin with. Haha. All smart phones now have 120hz display. Dont tell me you still game with a 60hz display. Lol.

I skimmed through the second part of the review. I googled to learn how Fn keys can be enabled. For someone who uses Excel, development and audio-video, Fn keys are very important for the shortcuts. I fear the touch panel Fn keys will be a deal breaker.
If you are a programmers do not buy this laptop. This laptop is meant for watching video and browsing the web which you can get a Chromebook for half the price. As soon as you start programming on this laptop you will quickly realize all the function keys (ESC, F1...F12) are gone and are replaced by what Apple used to have (touch bar) before they took it out due to backlash from the customers and the communities
Bought one to replace my 9Q33 laptop which is just that ...a laptop for sitting in the recliner with. Also bought a WD22TB4 dock so one cable to one TB4 port is all thats needed . Everthing including TV plugs into Dock . Nice solution although I would have prefered the 2in 1 version , but it doesnt allow hard drive replacement so i went with the normal clamshell Top spec but with OLED touch. Im a mouse man so will have a type c mouse in the other port and one in the dock so i have portable mouse option without unplugging . Lenovo makes a type c mouse so i have ordered that as well. Those that do loads of work on a laptop are surely expecting too much from a portable device . They should be at a desk !......... and NOT working from home ....Slack shits !😁

Not an XPS, but the Precision 5470 is basically a 14" XPS. Doesn't have the same keyboard or trackpad tho.

I own the Plus. The track pad area is so large you don't need an outline. It works perfectly without. Also, the haptic feedback is amazing.

multimedia touch controls are too unresponsive + trackpad is definitely something you need to get used to.

Bought one to replace my 9Q33 laptop which is just that ...a laptop for sitting in the recliner with. Also bought a WD22TB4 dock so one cable to one TB4 port is all thats needed . Everthing including TV plugs into Dock . Nice solution although I would have prefered the 2in 1 version , but it doesnt allow hard drive replacement so i went with the normal clamshell Top spec but with OLED touch. Im a mouse man so will have a type c mouse in the other port and one in the dock so i have portable mouse option without unplugging . Lenovo makes a type c mouse so i have ordered that as well. Those that do loads of work on a laptop are surely expecting too much from a portable device . They should be at a desk !......... and NOT working from home ....Slack shits !😁
