    Some great advice and time saving points here - I have just removed the module from my wife's car and got it through the offside wheel arch without removing the bracket. I have ordered the refurbishment parts from eBay and will refit soon. I don't think that re assembly is going to be easy but the information here certainly saved me bucket loads of time.

    Hi Steve! I live on a tropical island and my RRS is no way near dirty and rusty and rotten as this one, and the Ocean is all around, so ryst should be. And it's a 2006. I reckon it gets that rusty because they go offroad and never rinse the mud off. Thanks for your tutorial.

    New sub here, great to see some other poor bastard besides myself suffering at LR epb modules .....! Spent about 9 hours on one last week removing/rebuilding to only find out what was said to the customer that it was a waste of time rebuilding and just replace the complete unit .....! 😡

    Great video and job, nothing easy on those LR!! I’d say the levels of rust mean that your going to be doing a lot more to that Bus!😂😬

    Thanks for posting this playlist of epb videos. Shop where I’m at doesn’t work on Land Rovers except for the 3 friends that have them. In process of fixing ‘09 Range Rover Sport stuck on epb making that obnoxious screech. A ‘12 LR4 5.0 timing chain guides broke caused bent valves. Went to another shop tackling the body off frame engine swap. I can’t recall the year/model of the third one but that Range Rover was leaking coolant from cracked plastic piping in the engine valley. All of them underneath rusty to shit 💩

    Great Video, it actually shows what it is like, unless so many videos on here, that just show too-edited a version of removing bolts and cables! Thanks.

    Do able to replace a cable in situ? My cables are fine and free but 1 of the threaded collars split whilst I was removing it to do wheel bearings/hubs.

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You probably could do it in place but it would be fiddly and awkward. Easier to remove it all.

    Absolutely shocked at how much corrosion there is on the UK vehicles. My Disco 4 is now 7 years old and still looks pretty new underneath despite regular outback trips here is Australia after which I clean the underside. The salted roads must cause a lot of damage.;

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The salty roads here kill cars. 10-15 years and they're in the scrap yard if not cleaned properly, which most arn't. Even now, new cars are not under sealed properly from the factory and within the first year, there is rust in all the seams on the floorpan and chassis.

    • @pistonbroke

      Hello Alp. Yes salty roads in winter. It kills cars here in the UK. We also have a very damp climate which doesn't help either.

    Hi Steve, can just the box be replaced without having to remove all the cables. i have replaced all the cogs in my current one and now the force sensor don't work so will be replacing the box

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you need to pull it all out. Getting the cables out with the box in place would be a ball ache anyway. The new actuator comes complete with cables.

    Hi. I have a ‘12 Sport. In the spare wheel well there is a gaurd-ish metal shield. How do I remove the epb actuator off on this year? I have a US model.

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was great when land rover put that there. Made an awkward job 10 times worse. Been a few years since I done a later model but I think the actuator will come out through the right rear wheel arch.

    Great work. Patience of a Saint. How long roughly did it take you to remove it.

    • @pistonbroke

    I'm out in Cambodia, I've got a 2006 RRS, the EPB as been immobilized so I'll be doing this repair one of these days.
    But the underneath of the car is nothing like that scrap bucket you've been working on, I'm not impressed with the build and design of range rovers.
    My definition of them is there a tank with plastic turrets, especially the air suspension system, a complicated mess.
    But we live and learn, luckily I'm pretty handy on the tools, and garage repairs are cheap here, as long as you watch what they do.

      @ostosix 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pistonbroke i left cables in chopped and was just going to re rout new ones my own way but I'll go back and grind em i think. What do you use in the grinder? Stone or carbide?

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Angle grinder for the 4 bolts on the square bracket and a belt sander for the cables but it was easier access to grind away the captive nut, it's just behind the upper wishbone mounting and you can get to it through the wheel arch. Once done just fit a nut and bolt.

  • @evansmarts775
    @evansmarts775 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @pistonbroke

      You can get to the captive nuts, just chisel them off.

  • @deporbs

    Hmm, I was under impression cables are not sold separately, you have to buy whol EPB kit - module with cables.

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can get the cables seperately. Part numbers SPB500012 & SPB500081.

      @@pistonbroke tried it mate but still grabbing on when I pull on it does that mean it’s the module not cables?

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean? Put a hook or a screwdriver through the loop and pull it HARD, like fkn really yank it, you'll hear it go when it releases.

    • @BrutallyHnest_
      @BrutallyHnest_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pistonbroke i tried that mate but it’s still stuck on. It doesn’t release still stuck on you can get it to move if you really want to by giving it gass but you can feel it pulling. I found a module for it with cables but was wondering if the part numbers are cross compatible? Got a 58 plate sport 2.7. And is it a driveway job you reckon watching your video put me of

    • @pistonbroke
      @pistonbroke  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe it has released but there is a problem with the cables or shoes causing it to bind. Not sure on part numbers, I thought all the actuators were the same. You can do it on your driveway but it wont be a nice job.

  • @fhonse2787

    • @pistonbroke

    • @pistonbroke
