    I did one on my son's van last month and you defo need the tool and once the new filter is fitted in the bowl you can fill it with fresh diesel through the hole in the top of the filter. This get's the max diesel in the filter .and avoids air locking. once the filter is fitted turn the ignition on for a min of 20seconds and turn off. Do this 3 times and then start and run at 1500 to 2000rpm for approx two minutes. All air should now be purged from the system.

    Hi does the filter come with the black plastic top or is it just the filter which places to the plastic top. 👍

    You're right Rob that you'll definitely need that tool to remove that filter housing. At first, I thought one could just twist it by hand. But after seeing how tight that joker was on there, there was no way for that. Great video in showing the steps of how to get that filter in and out of there. Keep up the good work!

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right Terry, I think you would have to be pretty strong to get that undone by hand. I would be afraid to use a big pair of grips on that plastic. Have a good weekend mate 🍻

    Great video, however you seem to have missed the part on how to disconnect the yellow sensor switch at the bottom of the filter...any chance to please show or explain how? Thanks. Also when I shop for the Laser tool part #6669 it says it is for ford transits from 2012. I have a 2011 VM Ford Transit MK7 2.2L. The fuel filter set up looks the same but will the removal tool work on my van? Thanks.

    Hi, thank for the very helpful video! Today I tried to do my Mk7 Transit fuel filter, but the special lasertool gets stuck about 2 centimeteres from the bottom. It doesn't slide to the top of the housing like in your video. I tried to hammer it, but to no avail. Should I grind the tool's innerside or any other ideas? Thanks. Mine is RWD 2013 MK7 Transit.

    7:17 i hear someone playing with his toy? what happened to big displacemtnt engines, used to be 1.6 was considered tiny now its huge, 1.0 and 1.2 is the norm in small cars,

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You hear that a lot on my videos, especially those shot at the end of the week. It's a guy in a unit behind mine who builds engines for drag cars, what you hear is them being tested on the dyno. As for engine sizes... everything has a turbo bolted on nowadays to reduce the size.

    • @rzepekpl
      @rzepekpl 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you're very lucky, you can't get big power and very good reliability out of a small unit long term, when those people will be crying why their engine is making a knocking noise or crying about a blown turbo or dual mass flywheel you will be still driving with no worries, there is no replacement for displacement.

    @One Auto
    Ive got a FORD TRANSIT (MK6) 2003 DIESEL 2.4 di, and it wont start up, i mean actually fire up.
    Not a starter motor problem, it just turns over and wont fire up and run.
    Been running every day for several months no problem at all, then a few days ago, i came home in it parked up, next morning went to start it and heard a noise like several fast clicks, then it fired up but smoked like crazy greyish and wouldn't run it was trying to run but didn't quite get there, nearly fired up, but when i turned off the starter it stopped, i thought the fuel has ran out and sucked up lots of crap as it was low on fuel the night before.
    So I filled up canister with diesel and turned over again, still wouldn't run, lots of smoke still, so took it for a tow, still wouldn't run.
    Came home, bought new fuel filter, fitted (dry no fuel in it :), then had hell of a job getting fuel back to the injectors, so i had to fill up the filter with diesel, turn engine over and over, crack the nuts loose off all the injectors, then it came through, when i turned it over it sprayed all over the place from every injector, so i tightened them all up and continued to crank it over again, thinking it will fire up as there's lots of fuel in the tank now (i put another 2 canisters in) so lots of fuel in her (1/2 a tank)
    STILL WON'T START UP - IT'S BEEN 2 DAYS OF NOT FIRING UP
    I had to recharge the battery twice.
    I did get it to run sort of a little for maybe 10 seconds with Easy Start sprayed into the turbo and a unit on the right hand side of the engine infront of the fuel filter (i think throttle body or airflow unit), so i sprayed into both ports (air hoses removed) as i say it ran for about 10 seconds, and that's as far as i've got.
    I am at the point of buying another van, been also told it should fire up with easy start sprayed into it no problem.
    WHAT I THINK I'VE DIAGNOSED
    I am sure fuel pump is ok as otherwise injectors would NOT have had lots of pressure when cranked to spray that much out.
    Everytime i crank it now no smoke at all coming from the exhaust
    It's as if NO FUEL still isn't getting through
    My thoughts are that there is an airlock between the fuel tank and the feed into the fuel filter housing, so its basically dry, and not sucking it in since i topped the fuel filter up OR....
    Somebody else told me the original clicking noises i heard upon start up when it smoked like crazy could be the timing chain camshaft tensioner
    They said they can slip,and then its timed wrong.
    ALSO THEY SAID IT COULD OF CAUSED MASSIVE DAMAGE = NEW ENGINE
    From what i've said what do you think it could be???
    Is it an airlock in the fuel that's the problem
    Has the fuel pump gone
    Is the tensioner snapped or jumped onto another cog
    In your experience what could it be or what does it sound like have you heard of these faults before?

    The design of this filter annoys me. I think its silly. I service a few of these newer transits for a friend. Funnily enough he actually has the tool and he just leaves it with whichever vehicle he drops off when it needs it doing. My tool box isn't big enough for all this special tool malarkey.
    Nice to see a van video.

    • @OneAuto
      @OneAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have more confidence in this design than the previous metal type cause it's tight to go on. But everything being plastic scares me. I'm not sure how it would hold up with big grips on it instead of the special tool.

      One Auto, You have to wonder what these will be like in 5-10 years, if they start to go brittle and break. I bet you have to buy the whole assembly from Ford at a pretty penny.

    Be warned! I took the filter out of mine & fitted an identical new one. It was very odd to fit & couldn't be made to go in easily. I later discovered that the wrong type of Transit filter had been fitted by the previous owner / tec. & I'd just got the same wrong type! It can be made to fit as I found out but is obviously incorrect. I needed the van up & running asap, so as it hasn't caused any problems I've left it in but got the correct one ready to go.
