    Sweet. I have a pack with a busted zipper. I think I’ll send it in. It’s interesting they ask about sentimental value. I didn’t expect that.
    You don’t think osprey is watching? I’m sure you are their favorite channel. 😉

      I was thinking about you (is that weird?) since you said you were wondering how the AMG would work. I would say send it in for sure! No issues for me and glad to have a 'good-as-new' pack back!
      Oh ya, I'm sure Osprey hit that notification bell so they don't miss a single video... 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for watching!

    I like that you went through the details of the process instead of just showing the result. That actually helps a lot for anyone that needs to use the service. That was also a nice moment you had with your backpack there at 5:36. I'm not crying, you're crying! 😂

    I think your complaint about having to pay for shipping is valid. I bought a cheap Sierra Designs $40 pack from Target and the stitching didn't last too long. I contacted them about it and they asked me to email them photos of the bad stitching. I did and they immediately sent me a new pack plus a shipping label to send the other pack back for free! I seriously got the pack in like 4 days! I haven't had to deal with Osprey customer service but I do love my Rook 65!

    • @DoseofDirt
      @DoseofDirt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooh. That is interesting. Sounds like Sierra Designs has the customer service figured out! I definitely would have preferred that approach instead of how Osprey did it. I also like that they had you send the old one back so they could (hopefully) fix it or somehow recycle it rather than just throwing it away! How is that pack holding up? I love a good budget option! Thanks so much for watching!

    • @natlovell122
      @natlovell122 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DoseofDirt it's honestly not a bad budget pack at all. It's 40 liters so it's the perfect size for car camping for me. It also has plenty of different pockets for storage so I take it to the creek or river with my family and it fits all of our towels and snacks. For $40 and that kind of customer service it's hard to beat!

    Bahahaha the Osprey love runs deep with Jeff! I do dig my Talon 6 for day hikes. I also got their roll up day pack that weighs around 3-4ozs but wasn't comfortable at all. I almost got the levity 45 when I was looking for a lightweight framed pack but ultimately went with the REI Flash 55. They def make competitive packs and that guarantee is a HUGE selling point for sure. Thanks so much for doing this video! I think a lot of ppl hear about the guarantee but never see it in action so this was an amazing idea for a video! Not sure if I missed it but did you also have to pay to ship it back to you or only out to Osprey?

    • @DoseofDirt
      @DoseofDirt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hahaha! My + Osprey = ❤.
      Ya, I was looking at the Levity, but honestly wasn't too impressed with it. I think they have a ways to go with their ultra light packs. I'll have to check out the Flash.
      I forgot to mention that! No, I did not have to pay the return shipping. Osprey just sent it back to me on their own dime. And I probably shouldn't complain too much about paying the shipping to them. I mean, for crying out loud, they are fixing my $100+ pack for free. I can be such a whiner... 🤣

    The almighty guarantee isn't what it used to be (no questions asked, free repair or replacement) or as straight forward as you make it seem. I have a zipper issue and Osprey puts up all kinds of conditions to repairing it, making it more of a hassle than a benefit. Like you, I used to recommend Osprey packs to my friends in part because of the guarantee, but now I feel the guarantee isn't even worth mentioning since pretty much all brands have equivalent guarantees.

    • @DoseofDirt
      @DoseofDirt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmmm. That is disappointing. I've only had to use the AMG this one time, and it was a fairly straight forward repair. I'm tempted to really put the beat down on a few of my packs to test it out again with a more serious repair.
      My experience with some smaller companies has been better--full replacement, no questions asked.

    Shame Osprey see to have changed the goal posts on their warranty:
    Accidental Damage / Wear & Tear
    Damage in the form of abrasions, holes, cuts, tears, burns, or as a result of an animal attack, outside force or the pack being dropped or dragged would not be covered under our Guarantee. However, where possible we always aim to assist with a functional repair and look at each case on an individual basis.

  • @toncha1nas

    Hi I would like to ask if Osprey were unable to repair a backpack and send a new one, will the new one still be covered by AMG ? This happened to me when I bought an Osprey in Thailand and sent the backpack to repair but it was so damaged that Osprey decided to give me a new one but that new one is not covered by AMG anymore. I just would like to know if the situation is the same in US.
