Hey Sarah! I’m Bre☺️ I’ve actually had 4 Spinal Fusion operations over the course of my teenage/young adult years. My first was at age 16, then 18, then 21, & the 4th I was 22 years old!! As of today I am a 26 year old young woman & unfortunately I have 2 more spinal fusion repair surgeries which will likely be scheduled in the next calendar year. Having a scar very similar to yours, from my neck down to my hips, makes me feel like I am not alone and each time I see a new video posted to your channel I get so excited to hear from my “spinal fusion buddy”!! I love you and your content about ableism and just want to say a HUGE thank you for everything you’ve done to bring awareness to our community while teaching others about how their actions are “Ableist” & what they can do to change that!❤️Sending all my love and support as always, Bre (26 yr old young woman, college graduate & soon to be 6 time Spinal Fusion Survivor🎗)
That was an incredible story Sarah. I think it’s amazing that you were able to overcome so much at such a young age. So glad surgery helped and that you’re feeling better.
I had a scoliosis fusion in 1994 when I was 13. It isn't for the wimpy for sure! I had a 50°/35° "S" curve. Your story is amazing! May God bless you and keep you.
You have been through more than some people go through in a whole lifetime. I admire your positive attitude and determination to live a normal life. I hope that one day someone will come up with a way to get your left arm working again and that you will be first in line. BTW what will be your major in college?
Channel popped in recommendations and finished watching the video regarding how your paralysis happened. Just gotta say you are encouraging, well-spoken and lovely. I hope you keep up w/ these videos! Also, have you considered studying medicine? I feel like your experience and attitude could help a lot of people in the future. Anyway, much love!
Thank you so much! That’s such a nice compliment! I originally was going to study medicine but I’m hoping to have a career more focused on speaking and writing! 🥰
So enlightening my daughter has scoliosis from the age of 13 and got to a degree of 85 in July she’s havin her 3rd operation as last 2 didn’t work for her so a month to her operation it won’t be perfect but it will be better so pleased yours went well gives me hope for my daughter ❤
I am 13 with a 50 degree curve and i have to get spinal tethering surgery in september. Everyone who gets put through this is tougher than they know, and this is just pushing your limits and making you stronger for the future. scoliosis sisters 💪
Thanks for your upload. The surgery was worth it. Science will only get better (hopefully), no doubt life changing. And yes. In my father's culture, having scars are a badge of honor. The fact that you can weather what life throws at you, should be reminders that you're a descendant of survivor's (People that made it to here and now). They would be right proud of you .
Love your videos! I’ve also had a LONG and intense medical history (including a spinal fusion too!) so it’s nice to watch your videos and be able to relate.❤️
I had scoliosis surgery on 7-15-02. I’m fused T2-L3. I have some videos on my TH-cam channel with my X-rays. I wore a Boston Brace as a child, but didn’t need surgery until I was 29 years old. Dr. Shelokov did my surgery in Dallas Texas.
I didn't realize they can do anything for scoliosis . I was checked for it a lot in school . But now older I have answers . Not scoliosis . Along with all my autoimmune stuff . I also have in my spine the osteoarthritis, the degenerative discs, osteopenia , and the curve is caused by Schumer disease . Or a name similar to that . I was always told stand up straight , was so frustrating knowing I couldn't make my back look straight like the other kids . You are very inspiring! Thank you!
My daughter started at bout that degree but we got overlooked /forgotten about until it got to 85 degree 3rd operation to correct is imminent so yea it needs to be kept watch over x
Pain is extremely disabling! So pleased you are so much better. That's a wonderful straight neck. When they do a spinal fusion do you end up with restrictive movement? Thanks for the great videos! Very interesting.
Thank you guys so much for watching! I'd love for you to check out my books! www.etsy.com/shop/SarahToddHammer
