I lost my right arm halfway between my elbow and shoulder in a farming accident when I was 16. That was 27 years ago now, and I have learned to do many things with one hand, but a for a few things I need help from others, like shaving my left armpit, cutting the nails on my left hand, and a few other things. I have had help from my sister, my college roommates, after college I shared an apartment with another girl, and once I got married, my husband. Having a disability can overwhelm some people, but I just take it one day at a time, and have had a wonderful life.
Hi Sarah, I am a retired teacher also disabled. I really appreciate your talks as they are informative as well as very understandable. I especially like how you share your perspectives as that really helps develop understanding/empathy. Good luck with college. 📑💚😷
So glad I found your channel! Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), a rare autoimmune disease, has affected all my limbs. I have some use of my left hand, eventhough it is weak, and just my thumb on the right hand. Your list very sounds similar like my list. Thanks for sharing your positivity! 💘
I lost 85% use of my left hand when I was 25 years old and I was a leftie. I use scissors to open food bags often any other time my husband or daughters help me. My daughters are awesome about helping with my hair if I ask too. Having an electric razor has helped with shaving but I also have Hypermobility Ehlers danilos so that oddly works in my favor.
You always make very informative videos. BTW, you are very beautiful regardless of how you wear your hair. I always look forward to your videos. Keep up the excellent work
Have you ever considered using a hair trimmer to shave your underarms? Unlike with the razor, you would not need to apply downward pressure so it might be easier in that sense, but heavier Also electric counter top jar openers are a thing that might be worth looking into
How about buttons, door knobs, makeup? Seems like your finding innovative ways to figure things out for yourself? Your hair is gorgeous up or down. Thank you for sharing once again. Ps love your bedroom. My favorite color. Hugs
I'm not surprised the first one was getting your hair up. Few years ago I broke my shoulder and it didnt effect me permanently, but for about 2 months i couldnt really move my arm /40 days i couldnt move it and then few weeks of recovery/ so back then i realized i always have to ask someone to tie my hair or smth /cuz i obv couldnt do it myself/. But yeah, girl, i kinda get your struggles
Do you have a PCA? Would you like to be living by yourself or with a caregiver? Or home? Or anywhere else lol. Right now my moms my caregiver I’m living at home but 23
Hello Sarah! I am a big fan and I am dealing with neuropathic pain, can I ask you whether you experience tingling or burning pain? Your case is very complicated and I admire you for continuing your life even after such setback :). To be honest, I am starting to lose faith that I'll ever get rid of pain but you motivate me to continue despite my struggles
Aww thank you so much! You’re so sweet! I’m sorry to hear you’re in pain! I sometimes experience tingling but I don’t deal with neuropathic pain (I did when I first got my Injury). Neuropathic pain is not very common in people with my disorder. Please don’t lose your faith! I wish you the best 💙
I’ve been looking for some kind of adaptive razor for a while now. Do you know of any? Like ones that have a blade that you can’t cut with and maybe are really easy to grip.
Thank you so much for watching! I’d love for you to check out my books! 🤗 etsy.me/31KQUhY
This is very cool, glad you are finding creative ways to work around your problems.
Thank you!

Thank you for taking time for these videos i know you try everyday to provide us great content on your channel ❤❤
You're beautiful no matter how you style your hair, but in my opinion, you look most beautiful with your hair down.
Thank you so much :)
Thank you for sharing your story. I was born with erbs palsy on my right which has very less movement

I don’t have a caregiver. I’m very independent and try to do as much as I can for myself! I’m going to college (without a caregiver) in two weeks! 💖
@@SarahToddHammer wow congrats! hope everything goes well

@@SarahToddHammer Thank you very much for your answer
I need to know what those scissors are called that you open your snacks with, Ive been one handed for 33 years due to a stroke at 5
I have cp and that is exactly how I have to shave my armpits also because I don’t have full function in one of my arms.
Just curious, are you able to strengthen your right hand and arm? (Sorry if this is a stupid question ahah its been a long day girl 🤣)
I like your videos. You have a very friendly personality.
Thank you!!
SO INSPIRATIONAL.....
Do you remember much life before your diagnosis ? Or more of how life is now?
Shaving my armpits was so annoying so I just stopped. My hair is light brown so it wasn't a big deal. Eventually it stopped growing there.
It is a struggle!
Let your part fall where it wants that’s what I do
My room used to be aqua and white just like that
The Tiffany blue is my fav color! 💙
Gurl, Just dont shave. Everyone has hair, we need to stop shaming each other for something that is so natural!
I prefer to shave...
Hi Sarah.I'm your new subscriber here. You're amazing and beautiful. Wish you all the best for your future ventures.
Thank you so much! 💙

I wish I did! I just use normal ones. I hope you can find one!!
Thanks. I do too. If I come across one I’ll let you know.
Maybe an electric razor? There is still an injury risk but it is less so. I know that in psychiatric hospitals they only allow those for that reason.
