If i recall correctly the chieftain noted in one of his video's about this tank that this tank was hated by the brits and it could barely even move without breaking the gearbox..
Spookston!(and anyone else really) If you have a Intel 13th or 14th Gen CPU you could be seeing issues at 11:30 from ongoing issues with those generations of CPU, Intel basically says anything over 65 watts of power draw(aka basically every CPU in those generations) is basically burning itself out. Gamers Nexus has a few good pieces on it, so does Level1tech. Basically Intel has screwed everyone over and has started massive cost cutting in a panic. They even cut the complimentary fruit and drinks for their workers! Adding an edit here to add: There will be a micro code update some time this month, but it's unlikely to really fix the issue but might prolong the life of your CPU a little, at the cost of some performance.
I have tried to play the Black Prince a few times, and every time I go back to the TOG. Better gun. Lower on-paper top speed but it hits it in all terrain, forward and reverse, uphill and downhill. Armor's bad, but it's big enough and has enough crew that it feels tougher. What I'm saying is Spookston should do another TOG video.
The reason for the 350hp is because the tank was a proof of concept, not a battle tank. The only ones built were prototypes. Production variants were supposed to have a supercharged Meteor engine of 950hp. The standard engine was used just to allow the prototypes to move around.
I remember running into this for the first time as a young german main that hadn't learned to actually aim yet... My Panther and I were terrified until I managed to flank it as it slaughtered my team
The infantry tanks like the Churchill and the black prints are designed to escort inventory that’s why they’re called inventory tanks so they don’t really need to go faster than you can walk and that’s why they are so slow
@dd-gl2qf aye it had flaws but aleast it wasn't the German approach of making every single tail unrelated to each other and making them also have more armor at the cost of transmissions and resources
ive been playing the british and french tech trees for the past 200 hours of my gametime, and APDS is actually really damn good if you are a quick aimer and know where to shoot, since it got buffed a bit in spalling i believe (it used to be unforgivably awful)
Attempt 52 Challenge: For high tier support a nations MBT with its respective APC/IFV counterpart (ie Abrams/Bradley, T90/BMP2M, etc.) Challenge is keeping the other player alive and supporting it without stealing kills (breaking barrels, tracking, repairing, etc) it being a random should help make it interesting.
I always run the Black Prince with 30+ APDS because you are going to need A LOT of them lol. And also try to engage in long distances, just so you don't have to take 20 mins to get to the front and at longer distance, unless you get hit by a HEATFS, not many things can hurt you
The main reason the Churchill tanks are so slow is the engine is governed. You cannot rev it over a certain rpm. Guess it was meant to prolong the engine.
11:44 im certain its a WT thing. Mine will stutter like that when planes, helis and drones are spawned. Ngl it kinda feels a little cheaty because i can loiter off to the side and wait for a stutter then begin my intercept.
Hey spookston, would you consider doing a video on the IS-4? It’s extremely well armored and has really good mobility for its weight and size, with its only real downsides being the lack of decent gun depression and a long reload. Other than that it’s the embodiment of Stalinium
As a long time user of the Black Prince, the APDS is better since you can just pen whomever, when it uh doesn't shatter that is... Make sure you bring a lot. It has decent post pen damage at least.
The tank on the left at 1:38 just spawning into existence… I sometimes get surprised by an enemy that just wasn’t there a few moments ago, but now is in plain sight, and wonder what happened. Well, this happened. E-sports ready, baybeee.
Man this is some fortune. I have been playing this thing quite a bit recently and was thinking "you know if a new video comes out about this, I will post my suffering". 7 times in two matches I hit peoples' ammunition and it did nothing causing them to either escape or kill me. I could deal with the speed or the APDS being outright schizophrenic... but it is pure pain with both at the same time. I desperately want to like this thing but Gaijin can make it very difficult.
I know the words German and Casemate send shrivels down your spine, but the Jpz 4-5 is actually pretty fun. It doesnt weigh 50 billion tons and has a reload that wont make you go geriatric at 7 seconds. Only downside is the armor is mid and the 90 mm cannon gets heat as its main shell
The upper Brass or the Royal army were too concerned with adding armor, a bigger gun and a turret large enough to make effective use of said gun, but wasn’t concerned with mobility since the tank was still using a not so off-road friendly suspension. also probably would’ve been a bit expensive to feasibly upgrade the powertrain to use the Meteor that the Cromwell was using, so just have the Cromwell be used as a breakthrough general purpose tank, and maybe make the Black Prince be used as infantry support. I’m pretty sure the guys at the tank museum suggested it was probably meant to be utilized in a more urban battlefield. I could be getting everything wrong, and also possibly contradictory. It’s kinda hard to proofread everything since i’m typing this out on mobile.
Day 101 You should play a tank with hydropneumatic suspension (recommend the MBT-70) But the catch is you have to drop the suspension as low as it can go for the whole match.
Hello, good sir, may I propose to you… The Lorraine 40t? You will receive a good speed, both forward and backward, a decent 100mm autoloaded gun with decent penetration, an oscillating turret with a good traverse speed and 8 degrees of depression, for the price of: - France, at 7.7 - AP - no armor whatsoever, if anything shoots you, you’re most likely done - fighting stabilized MBTs with APFSDS in full uptiers But fear not! For it is a fun tank to play around with!

The state of sabot grants people powers that most would consider to be... unnatural
I think i would like a spookston podcast:)
Day 3 of asking Spookston to play the Hungarian Csaba
You are my man!😃👍
Nooo don't torture the poor man
Angle slightly, hide your lower plate, and charge on. You have a built in stabilizer
I still regret grinding the British tech tree to this day. I only made it to 6.0 💀
10:10 primal rage
I have tried to play the Black Prince a few times, and every time I go back to the TOG. Better gun. Lower on-paper top speed but it hits it in all terrain, forward and reverse, uphill and downhill. Armor's bad, but it's big enough and has enough crew that it feels tougher.
What I'm saying is Spookston should do another TOG video.
11:14 that was NOT a kill, that was a murder
“Don’t do anything dumb FV!”
FV4005: “Imma hurt this mf”
The reason for the 350hp is because the tank was a proof of concept, not a battle tank. The only ones built were prototypes. Production variants were supposed to have a supercharged Meteor engine of 950hp.
The standard engine was used just to allow the prototypes to move around.
I remember running into this for the first time as a young german main that hadn't learned to actually aim yet... My Panther and I were terrified until I managed to flank it as it slaughtered my team
Attempt 3 at getting Spookston to do some CAS in the Wyvern
The infantry tanks like the Churchill and the black prints are designed to escort inventory that’s why they’re called inventory tanks so they don’t really need to go faster than you can walk and that’s why they are so slow
I mean, the Black Prince is underpowered, unlike the Churchill
yeah but that design principle is stupid and we quickly figured that out and came up with the 'universal tank' concept
infantry* not inventory
Gotta protect the inventory
You know what's not hopeless? The odds of you doing the Dozer Blade video.
You WILL do it Spookston. It's only a matter of time...
Play the M42 as a td
It can pen tiger one side
Attempt number 1 of getting spookston to play a British tank he likes.
I always run the Black Prince with 30+ APDS because you are going to need A LOT of them lol. And also try to engage in long distances, just so you don't have to take 20 mins to get to the front and at longer distance, unless you get hit by a HEATFS, not many things can hurt you
Playing black prince be like:
50% of the time: bro I hate this slow tank I hate it so much
The other 50%: *_YOOO THIS TANK IS FIRE_*
The main reason the Churchill tanks are so slow is the engine is governed. You cannot rev it over a certain rpm. Guess it was meant to prolong the engine.
just be glad you're playing it after it got buffed, it used to have a reverse speed of 2 km/h
Spookston just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to make warthunder videos
As a long time user of the Black Prince, the APDS is better since you can just pen whomever, when it uh doesn't shatter that is... Make sure you bring a lot. It has decent post pen damage at least.
Something that you might enjoy is the American m13 anti air it has two .50 cal mgs and is a great anti everything
Hey spookston did you know theres a button you can press to increase the gear and automatically drive
The tank on the left at 1:38 just spawning into existence… I sometimes get surprised by an enemy that just wasn’t there a few moments ago, but now is in plain sight, and wonder what happened. Well, this happened. E-sports ready, baybeee.
Well that's where they spawn
Me see TH-cam
Me watch Spookston
Me happy
I like the addition of music in parts of the video
I sprained my ankle from a nasty fall off of a mean ol bronc from a rodeo but damn its sure as hell good to watch some spookston lol
Thank you spookston you freed me from the torment of the prince that is also black
"Its armour is quite good."
Spook lied as naturally as he breathed.
Day 101 You should play a tank with hydropneumatic suspension (recommend the MBT-70) But the catch is you have to drop the suspension as low as it can go for the whole match.
Gaijin's just hands out medals to any employee or player that can screw over British tanks
Meanwhile the Churchill VII shares the same sentiment as its enemies - They find each other very hard to kill
Hello, good sir, may I propose to you… The Lorraine 40t?
You will receive a good speed, both forward and backward, a decent 100mm autoloaded gun with decent penetration, an oscillating turret with a good traverse speed and 8 degrees of depression, for the price of:
- France, at 7.7
- AP
- no armor whatsoever, if anything shoots you, you’re most likely done
- fighting stabilized MBTs with APFSDS in full uptiers
But fear not! For it is a fun tank to play around with!
To be fair, tanks usually are firing HE at infantry etc. rather than shooting APFSDS at tanks, so the rifled gun probably does help for accuracy.
