  • The Bahamas are home to the blue holes, an extensive underwater cave system. These natural pools are also known as the home of Lusca, a half-octopus, half-shark hybrid monster. Jeremy goes to this paradise in the Caribbeans to investigate the case and get the answers he is looking for.
    It is here in these natural structures that it is said a sea monster called the Lusca lives.

      no matter how we rationalize murdering other especially-intelligent and benevolent creatures, it's still always a bit off-putting...
      i mean, i do get wanting and needing to eat meat... or some douche selling it so he can buy his extra sea-doo play toy. no out-loud criticism here.
      but somthing sure doesn't seem right about many things. it kinda' seems like if we humans were conscientious in the first place, we wouldn't have children and proliferate like rampant overwhelming bacterial colonies if we didn't have enough crops or a conscientious means to support existence.
      idk who's ultimately to blame for horror and pain... probably The Universe/God/whatever you want to call the leading force of the brutally Machiavelian natural order. but a lot of things in life just don't seem so kosher to me.
      what i mean is, just as an entity, i will always feel like i deserve the worst and don't have the right to complain about anything if i nonchalantly and unconscientiously keep raping everything around me on some level.
      it's like, I feel the need to honestly rationalize: WHY do I deserve more? if I can't do that, yet I just accept more, there is something very... ugly, stupid, and doom-bound about accepting an exalted place in that manner.

    I recently watched a documentary in which scientist were trying to see how smart Octopus's were. So they took 2 of them and put them in a maze (in an aquarium) and at the end was food (I believe it was a live fish). They were both in the same aquarium but separated by an opaque piece of plastic in the middle so they couldn't see each other. One of the octopus stayed still. The other one worked its way thru the maze, turning the wrong way but eventually making it thru. Then the other one started going thru the his maze. It literally made no wrong turns and made it thru the maze without any errors. The scientist believed that the 2 octopuses were communicating somehow. It was mind blowing. I think we are only touching the surface on how smart they are. Maybe smarter than dolphins...going down the rabbit hole...maybe smarter than humans?

      The problem they have is that they don't teach their young. The father takes off and the mothers usually die from starvation waiting for their eggs to hatch. Every generation has to learn everything from scratch. Its scary to think how smart they could be if their parents taught them like dolphins teach their young

    Man, I absolutely *LOVE* the way octopi move. Looks like they just spill out of rock crevices or their tentacles just spill forward when they are on the ground. So graceful and beautiful in an almost alien way.

    Wana talk about smart? Recently in one aquarium an octopus got tired of the light that would be shown in his aquarium at night so one night he broke out of the tank crawled up a wall and on a ledge and shot water at the spot light and short circuited it and he accomplished his goal. A $2,000 camera rendered helpless..

    I work at an aquarium and y’all don’t understand how strong octopus are!! I did a feeding show once with a gloomy octopus (yes that’s its actual name) and the octopus which is not as big as a giant pacific octopus literally lifted me up off the floor and almost broke my arm. It was insane! But I wasn’t scared because she was just playing. They are so strong though 🐙

    Bob Gymlan's "Cyptids That Kill" brought ne here.Tons of people have been snatched from below in these blue holes. No blood, no struggle, they just disappear. And with the blue holes being immeasurably deep, and connected by tiny little tunnels and passageways, the octopus makes perfect sense.

    I saw an octopus unlock a treasure chest at a nearby aquarium. It is well known they are intelligent creatures, but most people dont understand how smart they actually are.
    Using tools puts them above almost everything and on par with chimps, dolphins, and the most intelligent birds.

    The real life "Octopus takes down a Shark" video reminds me of just such an encounter filmed some time before "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms" sauntered onto 1950's movie screens and, much later, TV. Speaking of dangerous Cephalopods, I wonder if Jeremy Wade has any plans to look at/for "El Diablo Rojo," Baja California's Humboldt Squid. Then there's every Sperm Whale's prey, the Ogasawara Island Giant Squid, which has been captured on video, recently.

    • @Otokichi786
      @Otokichi786 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen a number of "River Monsters" videos over the years, but not "Devil of the Deep." I have read about/seen the tale of a SCUBA diver's near-fatal encounter with a Humboldt squid that stripped him of his mask and mouthpiece. Fortunately, he fended off the medium-size beast before other squid came to "share in the feast."
