Hello everybody for anyone who is interested, I’ve been using the Canon EOS 90D over the last 6 months and I highly recommend it. It shoots great video and great photos 💯📸. Hyun thanks for the awesome review, you did this DSLR justice!
It’s now 2023 and I bought a new 90D in March. I have an 80D as well and having both is ready great. Sometimes when I need a second camera the 80D is perfect, I can switch between them seamlessly. I have them both set up the same way so there is no problem good from one to the other. I shoot mainly wildlife and birds and the 90D does well here.
I'm about to order this camera! I've heard so many amazing things about it and after seeing your video, have made the decision this is the right camera for me! Even though it is a APS-C format, it's still a phenomenal camera, especially with the video capabilities and 32.5 Megapixel resolution. Looking forward to shooting with it this Spring!
Great review! The 90d is a very underrated camera for that price. I did consider it as a upgrade to my 80d but in the end I ended up getting a full frame.
@Paul Jones The low light performance is not dramatically better but considering its got all those extra pixels its a fine achievement. The dynamic range is much improved and it kills Son'ys current (aging) apsc sensors. I shoot 3 brands and this is the stand out sensor ( relative to what it is) that I own. Iwas gobsmacked at how well it did when I got it. I did a 32 px crop of my A7R iv and compared. The 90D if anything looks a bit better, even though its got smaller pixels. If you have a look at Michael the mavens channel he does a proper DR test on it compared to others and you'll see how clean that sensor is. It really is quite an upgrade I promise you, gives me all this extra reach for my birding without an image degradation penalty over my 7d mkii.

This is a great review. I love my 80D, and the 90D seems to just build off that. To me, it still has the best ergonomics (and I really like the top panel). As capable as I’m sure the R6 is, I’m not liking the 20mp sensor, or the price ($3500 Cdn). I’m likely going to get a discounted EOS R to have FF (30mp) RF Canon to start taking advantage of the RF lenses, and possibly a 90D for indoor sports, and getting a 640mm equivalent on my 100-400 lens. 90D and EOS R for same (or less) price than R6 :-)

The stock of 90Ds seem to be declining in the US - not sure if it's temporary due to the pandemic or not. I have a 20D with about $5K worth of lenses I bought in the middle of the 2000-10 decade. That was when I was single and no kids. I'm not currently able to afford replacing all my lenses with a mirrorless lineup equivalent, so I've just purchased a 90D. Rumors are the 90D is the last of the x0D lineup. Hopefully it will last me another 12-15 years- at the point my kids will be out of college and I can again afford an entire camera "system" (camera + lenses.)
Thank you for your honesty and great useful feedback. I am lookig for a new camera and this is one of the options I am considering. You have a new sub.
90D!!!?! I'm officially outdated in the camera world! Last known D series I owned was a 40D. It was my go to camera for everything !!! Good to see ya ralph!! I'll wait for a 100D one day!!! Lol
I’m rocking a T6i right now and I was about to upgrade to an 80D but I felt like it wasn’t much of an upgrade so now I’m getting the 90D! Shooting 4K should up the quality so much!
Hey there! Okay, so I have a really important question, as I am literally looking to purchase either the T8i or the 90D tomorrow. This question will solve my search: can the T8i take similar quality photos to those you showed at the start of this video? If so, the T8i is 100% the camera for me. I do not need those other improvements. If not, then I probably must get the 90D. Those photos are absolutely stunning and I have to have that quality for my purposes. If you could answer this, it would make my life so much easier. Thank you for your awesome videos.
Awesome review🙌 I’m uncertain whether should I buy Canon 90D or a mirrorless camera with the same budget🤔. Which camera do you think is the most value for money (budget around 1400-1600€) ?? (I use it for mainly for portrait & travel photography) Thanks in advance. Keep it up!!
Great review. Spot on. The 90D is not perfect, but it’s really good at a lot of things. There is no other Canon DSLR that has 30MP, 10FPS, uncropped 4K with dual pixel AF, 24 and 30 FPS, joystick, flip screen, weather seal, WiFi, Bluetooth, eye/face tracking, and touch screen. Canon is infamous for strategically leaving out key features to force people to upgrade to the next model. However, in this case, they nearly built the perfect DSLR. I suspect it may be because there won’t be a “next model”. This could be the best and last cropped sensor DSLR...
What do you think of the 90d compared to something like the R6? I have a 90d, but was kinda hyped about the R6 features and the chance to go mirrorless
Awesome review. I'm thinking about purchasing this camera but I'm not sure as this would be my 1st camera with an interchangeable lens. I'd like to shoot landscapes and macro with it. Is this camera user friendly or is it a good camera for a beginner at this price point? Should I get a mirrorless instead? What would you recommend for a beginner? Great video BTW.
Hello!! I have the Canon 90D. I saw a lot of reviews before I bought the Canon. Now that I have the Canon, I'm having trouble connecting with the tether cable on the monitor because it just won't connect to Lightroom or Capture One. How do you stream images to a monitor on set?
They're just very different cameras. But if you just want image comparison, you can watch my RP vs M6 mk ii video th-cam.com/video/kh8fncydplM/w-d-xo.html because the M6 has the same sensor as the 90D.
Great video! My dream is to get the 90D. I'm currently shooting with a T6i and want to upgrade, but the plan is to buy the Tamron, 90mm 2.8 macro lens and maybe a good general purpose lens (Canon 17-50 2.8 or the Sigma equivelent), plus some flash gear, before upgrading the camera body. I can't do it all at the same time financially: I'm a rich man who was born in a poor man's body, unfortunately.
I've had a 70d for several years. 90d just on the way now. You've settled my mind here in my purchase. Super solid review with all info delivered perfectly clearly. Can't wait to try it out on some soccer video.
It's not just a 90d It's my love, dream, that i always watch each and every video of 90d But some day i may be able to afford this one I am waiting for that day And by the way nice video
Well if you need to ask, I'd say get the 90D, haha. I'd only get the 7D if I were a professional wildlife/sports shooter, and the 5D if you're okay with paying $2-3000 more for full frame and full frame lenses.
@@HyunRalphJeong Thanks. Trouble is.. I love the 7D and 5D4, and want to convince myself why to spend the extra coin... I have a 500D now, and want to find my next wow camera
Eddie Moore my honest opinion is you should get the camera you like, the camera that gets you excited to shoot more, not what’s technically better. They’re all great cameras but the 7D and 5D are designed more for professional use so the build quality will be better.

After I have seen many videos where the 90d was smashed I came here. And sadly I have to agree with those smashers to some extend. Canon could have improved the optical viewfinder as you said and it would have been an awesome DSLR or they could have shoved a DSLM into the 90d housing and it would have been an awesome DSLM at least for the price tag. However, that never happened. But does that make it a bad camera? I don't think so. There are better options for professional users no question. But for what it is, it's an excellent camera. Maybe it just doesn't fit your needs.
what lens did u use for the portraits with the car ?! superb ! ps : i never use the ovf on my 90D as i found out too it was harder to get proper focus & even so the images were a little more soft than in liveview ... def going FF hybrid next time i change.
Im considering buying this camera for (underwater) wildlife photography, but I'm wondering how loud the shutter is. I've heard from other photographers that dslrs can be too loud underwater and scare/disturb the wildlife
Live view has better eye autofocus? Sounds like it has Canon's latest "dual pixel" autofocus, which is similar to the mirrorless. Does this camera combine best of both of their DSLR and mirrorless?
Yeah my dorm mate has a a7 mk2 and me a 90d you know he has some advantages but it's basically a The functionality of a mirrorless camera with a mirror
In a part of the video, it was mentioned that this model's higher resolution and crop sensor give it an edge in macro photography. That makes perfect sense and is quite intriguing. However, I'm curious if the crop sensor could be a drawback for techniques like focus stacking. Are there any differences in the stacked image output between crop sensor and full-frame cameras? Could we say that full-frame cameras generally produce more flawless results when using focus stacking?
Hey bud that’s an amazing video!!! However should I buy the 90D the A7iii or the EOS R. Iv been really confused as Im just starting my professional career with photography!!! I have owned the 70D, 80D & now 90D the 90D is light years ahead of the other two!. Buy a fast SD card that buffer goes fast in Raw!.
I have the 90d, 10-18mm and the Sigma 18-35. Best value for the money. Not cheap, not crazy expensive. Perfect for TH-cam.
Great review! Does it have Bluetooth?
Thank you for your honesty and great useful feedback. I am lookig for a new camera and this is one of the options I am considering. You have a new sub.
90D!!!?! I'm officially outdated in the camera world! Last known D series I owned was a 40D. It was my go to camera for everything !!! Good to see ya ralph!! I'll wait for a 100D one day!!! Lol
Bro... we already have a 200D... 100D has already been replaced. ^_^
100D Canon known in the US as the SL1
Would the 90D be good for sports photography? I'm looking to upgrade from the SL2.
Yeah the burst mode would be very useful for you
"Jack of all trades, but master of none, but still much better than just a master of one".
the 4k uncrop is so nice
I’m rocking a T6i right now and I was about to upgrade to an 80D but I felt like it wasn’t much of an upgrade so now I’m getting the 90D! Shooting 4K should up the quality so much!
first! thanks for teach so good content dude I´m from El Salvador !!!
maybe youtube is changing the video, but the 90D pictures did not look noticeably sharper or less noisier than these of 80D. pretty much the same.
Yeah, I mean most cameras are so good nowadays, I have to really push the cameras to show the difference and TH-cam compression doesn't help.
Thank you. The short answer is, yes. I’d save the extra money and spend it on lenses.
Apart from the 50mm what other lenses should I buy, that I can use in the future with a full frame camera too?
I am considering buying these or a markV!
5D mark V? I don’t know if there will be one to be honest. Just get this now and sell if when it comes out :)
@@HyunRalphJeong oh sorry my mistake, I meant the Mark iv :)
Great review! Thank you very much for this video.
I have this 90d and love it!!
I got one for almost a year and I love it...
Yeah, people like to complain about everything nowadays, but if you focus on the positives, it's a great camera.
Thanks man...very informative
What do you think of the 90d compared to something like the R6? I have a 90d, but was kinda hyped about the R6 features and the chance to go mirrorless
Awesome review. I'm thinking about purchasing this camera but I'm not sure as this would be my 1st camera with an interchangeable lens. I'd like to shoot landscapes and macro with it. Is this camera user friendly or is it a good camera for a beginner at this price point? Should I get a mirrorless instead? What would you recommend for a beginner? Great video BTW.
I'm still rocking a T5i (700D)
t3i here
T6 over here
Same here.. T5i
haha guys, sorry to disappoint, but I just sold my T5i and got a Fujifilm X-T4 xD #sorry
Magic lantern too!
Is it still a good buy? Or should i look into a different model?
Depends on what you like and what you shoot. Most cameras are pretty good nowadays so you just need to find the specs you need.
Hello!! I have the Canon 90D. I saw a lot of reviews before I bought the Canon. Now that I have the Canon, I'm having trouble connecting with the tether cable on the monitor because it just won't connect to Lightroom or Capture One. How do you stream images to a monitor on set?
Use the app but sometimes it can be the cord
The 90D is an amazing camera. I have never regretted my purchase... The EOS R6 is tempting though.. lol
can u do comparison of canon rp and 90d?
They're just very different cameras. But if you just want image comparison, you can watch my RP vs M6 mk ii video th-cam.com/video/kh8fncydplM/w-d-xo.html because the M6 has the same sensor as the 90D.
Please make more videos on this camera
Great video! My dream is to get the 90D. I'm currently shooting with a T6i and want to upgrade, but the plan is to buy the Tamron, 90mm 2.8 macro lens and maybe a good general purpose lens (Canon 17-50 2.8 or the Sigma equivelent), plus some flash gear, before upgrading the camera body. I can't do it all at the same time financially: I'm a rich man who was born in a poor man's body, unfortunately.
I'm actually surprised. A useful gear review.
I've had a 70d for several years. 90d just on the way now. You've settled my mind here in my purchase. Super solid review with all info delivered perfectly clearly. Can't wait to try it out on some soccer video.
The only thing the 90D was missing for me was the All I codec
Yeah, I noticed. But I'm not sophisticated enough to see the difference. Especially for TH-cam.
It's not just a 90d
It's my love, dream, that i always watch each and every video of 90d
But some day i may be able to afford this one
I am waiting for that day
And by the way nice video
Awesome vid 😃😃 ...what's ur openion on buying this cam for yt vlogging and how about the stabilization 😃
Which one is. Better canon 90 d or 7 d for nature photography
Great review. pls tell me why I should buy a 7Dii or a 5Div over this camera? I would only buy those cameras if........ Thanks in advance
@@HyunRalphJeong Thanks. I have a real soft spot for the 7D2. Can't explain why... Time to go shopping. Know much about Tamron 18/400?
@@eddiemoore7562 I used to have one for my D500 a while ago. I'm not sure if it was a bad copy but it wasn't very sharp.
Have you ever considered a full tutorial on the 90D. Step by step for us who are still in the learning stages. I would definitely pay for one. Thank you and keep up the fantastic video's.
Thank you. My camera was a rental so I don’t have it with me anymore but check out this video. Should be very thorough. th-cam.com/video/d2yZSLmEUAk/w-d-xo.html
@@HyunRalphJeong I'd really love a few days with you as an instructor. I learn so much better with hands on instructions. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Should I buy this for events
I got 80d and I just hop in to see what you think about 90d. Cant go for higher end mirrorless at the moment. I'm 50-50 into photo and video work, so one lens that you suggest with 90d. Thanks for the review
Really good review, does it have dual pixel focus in 4k crop mode ?
Wow my fav camera😍
Excellent review
Great info, thanks much!
Surely there will not be more reflex cameras?
I Just Bought this and Have It Today. Ill try this soon
great presentation - thank you
what lens did u use for the portraits with the car ?! superb ! ps : i never use the ovf on my 90D as i found out too it was harder to get proper focus & even so the images were a little more soft than in liveview ... def going FF hybrid next time i change.
Im considering buying this camera for (underwater) wildlife photography, but I'm wondering how loud the shutter is. I've heard from other photographers that dslrs can be too loud underwater and scare/disturb the wildlife
It isnt too bad, i have had mine a week and played around with the shutter there is a silent shutter setting also
Great video, very informative!!
Live view has better eye autofocus? Sounds like it has Canon's latest "dual pixel" autofocus, which is similar to the mirrorless. Does this camera combine best of both of their DSLR and mirrorless?
Yeah my dorm mate has a a7 mk2 and me a 90d you know he has some advantages but it's basically a
The functionality of a mirrorless camera with a mirror
Mostly Fashion or product photography!!!! I understand the whole thing between a Crop Sensor and a Mirrorless camera!! But I somehow still have this confusion and have not been able to make peace with this decision!!! Could you please help!!! And bdw I did have an hands on experience with the 3 cameras for the look and feel and all of it.
Thanks for sharing this I always thought about the 90d because everyone counts it out but it’s still a great option just not sure if I would pick it over the m6 mark ii
Hi Hyun, really enjoy your videos, I’m just wondering do you think it is work getting the original Cannon f2.8 IS 70-200 ? I’m on a budget and looking for a good 70-200 and saw that it is quite cheap now. Hope to hear back from you😁
Hi, I’ve actually never tried the mark i, I’ve only tried mark ii and iii. It’s probably fine to start with though.
Hyun Ralph Jeong thank you 😊
