I haven't seen this movie, but this seems to be a problem with a lot of slasher movies, that is hurt by not being shorter. These stories are really simple, which is why these films tend to have way more characters. A 90 minute slasher can, and often does work really well, but not when there's like 3 non-killer characters. I think this film seems like it would benefit immensely from being a short film as I hear the word boring used a lot.
And yes, I've tripped on nothing before, but not really while running.

I have mixed feelings about the original movie: the things about the Strangers original that I like - there's something that felt subversive about having a couple that just broke up, basically, and the added tension there. You see unraveled trust and just have a weird unsettled dynamic from the beginning. Then there's just the iconic "Why are you doing this?" "Because you were home"... which this new movie seems to have replicated, which is a terrible idea because it was only so iconic for being unexpectedly nihilistic, and you're not gonna get the same effect from it twice when everyone is expecting it. Other than that, I don't know. I found it somewhat scary even though the main characters do make a lot of terrible decisions...
it does feel like a movie that I remember being more fun and scary than it actually was, on revisiting it.

I completely agree. The characters being unforgivably dumb stuck out to me.

That's one thing I really hope they change in the new movies, give me characters who seem like they're trying their hardest to survive.

And I will say this I would have enjoyed the first purge movie a whole lot if they took this approach like a family in a huge mansion and have all these random people in the house but never really attack the family till the end over the panic room just showing the camera and seeing people walking around the yard the whole movie

I like a few parts of the sequel but it still doesn't really work for me. I'll be reviewing that one very soon.

I love the strangers prey at night! Sibling duos is a sub genre I love, ever since I watched Jeepers Creepers at 13 so I might be biased!

Not big on Prey at Night myself but I have always loved Jeepers Creepers! It is nice to see a believable pair of siblings.

I would have picked up something as a weapon and shouted their names. Asking if they need me to call the cops. That would have been interesting if they had the movie being them trying to last until the cops got there. Just think of how terrifying that would be. You're trying to survive the police coming and who knows if they actually believed you and would come. DX Cuz there are terrifying cases where the cops didn't even believe the person.

True, and if the strangers knew the cops were coming they might try harder to kill them quickly rather than just wasting time.

I did like the original movie very much and don't really care for these new "remakes" or whatever they are but I admit I will watch it only because I got a promo from t-mobile for a $5 ticket 😅😅

While this movie does have a few creepy moments, it's just dull. I kept waiting for something to happen, but nothing really does. The two main characters are dull too. For me the most memorable thing about this movie is the looping record.

I actually agree, some of the music got stuck in my head because of the looping lol

Unfortunately, even with the short runtime.
