Born a slave, Adewale was sold to a plantation owner at a young age. When pirates raided the plantation, Adewale escaped and found freedom as a pirate aboard the Jackdaw, where he became Edward Kenway's confidant and second-in-command. Now, 15 years since the end of Assassin's Creed® IV Black Flag™, Adewale has become a trained Assassin and illustrious member of the Brotherhood.
Port-au-Prince in 1735 is home to the most brutal slavery in the West Indies. Two thousand oppressed men, women, and children produce sugar, coffee, cotton, and indigo under the watch of six hundred French citizens, who live in constant apprehension of a violent rebellion.
After getting shipwrecked in what is now known as Haiti and left without weapons or crew, Adewale starts to meet and help locals in an effort to assemble a crew and steal a ship. The more he helps, however, the more he is drawn into the Maroon slave community. Forced to face his past, Adewale sets out to free the slaves and bring death to their captors.
Leave your mark on slavery with over four hours of new single-player missions. Strike down your enemies with powerful new weapons such as the blunderbuss and machete.

This game was TRUE justice. Freeing the enslaved. The Assassin's Creed series has been chock full of choices that were questionable-- you often wondered if you were doing the right thing and whether or not the Templars were right all along. But Freedom Cry is the exception. There was absolutely NO question to the good you were doing. True. Fucking. Justice.
This DLC is pretty short, but damn was it a great one.
To be honest, I never saw it that way, though I can understand how that could be frustrating. There are certainly people out there who would play this to "fulfill racial revenge" but that's absolutely not the way the game was meant to be played, so I wouldn't pay any mind to people like that. I'm sorry to hear that such loud spoken, narrow minded people have infringed on your capacity to enjoy this excellent dlc. All I can say is to keep trying to ignore people like that and cut out the acidic people (with even more acidic views) away from your life as best you can. No one can ask any more from anyone.

Answer to question in description: Edward Kenway
Imagine another pirate themed AC, but with the Origins style combat system, gear, and weaponry. I say Origins because the combat in that game was surprisingly simple yet versatile, having basic infinite attack chains with special charge and "disengage" attacks that could be woven together seamlessly. That being said, they could also include Valhalla's stamina system to prevent heavy spam.
The cutlasses could serve as a mix between the standard sword and dual swords for balanced and light attacks, whereas the machete would act like the sickle sword with a more technical moveset. The axe could be a guillotine gun like in Unity, with its adrenaline attack being a cannon shot. Same goes for the musket which could stand in for the spear and have a musket shot as it's adrenaline attack. The heavy blunt and scepters could remain the same, but would be given more fitting names like truncheon or quarterstaff.
For ranged weapons, the blunderbuss would obviously fill the same niche as the warrior bow, a pair of over-under pistols would serve as the light bow, a rifle with a scope would act like the predator bow, and a simple handgonne would fill the well rounded niche of the hunter bow.
For tools, we'd have the blow dart for poison, frenzy, and sleep darts, and have a hand mortar for launching grenades. I can also see a bow/crossbow style gadget used for these kind of munitions like in Unity.
Instead of abilities, you'd have contraptions. They'd function similarly to abilities, but instead of adrenaline they use tool kits you pick up from defeated enemies. You can only have 4 equipped at any given time, and they include things like a temporary makeshift Buckler you strap to your arm, a manned pickle gun on a tripod, a hip fired punt gun, and other things.
