I have watched this mv over 100 times and I cry every damn time. I felt every emotion they portrayed, my heart fluttered as Taehyung walked up to IU, i felt the fear and desperation to live. Incredible This was the most emotional mv I have ever watched, their chemistry is so adorable and beautiful, because they have such a mutual respect and admiration for eachother and their talents. We desperately need to see them act together again, i need IU and V in a romantic comedy K-drama, does anyone else agree.
V AMAZING acting out all these emotions of fear happiness sorrow furious, in a 5 minute music video is crazy because we see actors failing to act out a single emotion in an 1 hour long episode but here he is, the versatility is showing 😭They they forgot what they were running from because through the lens of the camera, they were able to just love and enjoy life until the reality caught up to them and they were taken away ICRY 😭😭😭😭❤❤😮😢❤❤
In the explanation, the recognize film director of the MV, said the Cube represents discrimination, I find it genius to represent that with a shape of a box, like "close-mind people" and they're "out of the box", loving freely, being different. Taehyung is blind and IU is mute in the mv, maybe one of them is also deaf... their history in the mv is so tragic but beautiful, I couldn't resist to cry the first three times I watched the mv, I replayed every scene and I definitely think they did a WONDERFUL work here, hope to see more of Taehyung acting♥️😭
Most likely IU character can’t speak..so uses sign language…..The director of the m/v said in the explanation …the lip chain on IU’s lip represents difficulty in communicating with the world…so IU being mute makes sense..💜

This was shot 1 week before tae's enlistment in the military and it's amazing how they did this song within a week
So fantastic! I absolutely bawled. At the end, when she covered his eye, and then showing the clothes falling onto the large pile....you not only realize how much they loved each other, but that all those clothes represent people who loved and were loved. Even beyond the sheer amount of people that pile represents, each of those individuals had lives and loves and were real.
IU can't hear and V’s one eye can't see ,in the end IU covered the good eyes of Taehyung so he won't see the horrible ending in front of them ,im Stuck at how a single tear from Taehyung’s good eye traced its path down his face and IU’s hand gently covered his eyes, It's as if he found a momentary refuge in her touch, offering a subtle relief from the overwhelming sensation ... AH I CAN'T STOP CRYING😢

Tae is a terrific actor. He is brilliant in this little film. He had input and wanted to do a sci-fi treatment. So we’ve seen the end of earth as we know it with aliens attacking the cubes, but that love survives even the end of our physical bodies love survives.
There are so many layers of story telling and metaphors and the director has explained what the storyline is. It’s a beautiful way for him to convey the message. In addition to this one part of my interpretation is based on the fact that Tae is blind in one eye and has burn scars around that eye. You can see at the beginning he is looking vulnerable, fragile and afraid. IU is leading him and is protective throughout. My interpretation is that he had encountered the cube before and narrowly escaped being captured and so is going through all the emotions from it. At the end, you see IU trying to protective him by picking up the metal bar because (to me) she knows what he went through and wants to protect him. And Tae taking the bar and attacking the cube looks to me like he knows what the cube is capable of and despite his fear of it, he wants to protect her. At the end it didn’t work and you can see the cube glow red with heat and smoke coming off their bodies (burn marks around his eyes). The ending was so poignant.
The song was amazing and felt more epic because of the storyline and visuals. They have great chemistry, first with the amazing duet they did on IU’s Palette and now with their acting skills, not to mention their interactions as friends. It’s so good to see Tae being able to express his acting skills even in a 5minute short. I hope he starts doing movies on his return. This movie really makes everyone feel emotional and they did that with their facial expressions, truly stunning. IU is queen for a reason and Tae our idol of idols never disappoints in his unique take on life and the choices he makes, whether to make an album of music he likes or to act in a short film all choices with a sad, emotionally moving ending. He wants his artistry to move us emotionally rather than hit the top spots on charts. Love these two artists. It’s time to stop calling this kpop.
These two with their amazing acting, packed in 5 mins all the emotions to convey the storyline (top tier level) that most kdramas do in 16 episodes.

I cry every time I watch it. I don’t even know how many times I’ve seen it now.
You can tell whenever someone is familiar with BTS and the imagery of the Spring Day MV. Those people immediately grasp the significance of the pile of clothing when they see it. Others don't get it until the very end of the video when the clothes that IU and V were wearing are added to the pile. This MV is filled with so many small things that are incredibly impactful. There is a Best Music Video category in the Grammys. This video should definitely win, hands down.
I really hope the panel of Grammy's would not choose nominations with discriminations. They must be objective and see the universal content and beauty of the song. Congratulations to all the staff, the creator/composers and of course IU and V! ❤

This is not V’s first acting job. He was in a kdrama called “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth”. A series that ran 2016-2017.
But that was a long time ago, seven years is not a short time. He only got the opportunity to act once in his life, and that was only as a supporting actor who only appeared briefly and died in the middle of the story. However, with very little acting experience, he was able to play his character in the MV very well and match IU's acting skills, which is incredible

Great reaction. I score reactions based on, physical, facial and verbal reactions to predetermined events and scenes, for picking up of various details like V being blind in one eye and give bonus points if certain over things are mentioned and when. And you have scored in the top 10 of over 200+ reactions to this video.
I would like to point out a thing or two. You picked up on IU using sign language and like virtually everyone else thought that meant she was deaf. However, the MV itself actually tells a different reason. Note in the opening scene when they stop to catch their breath. IU reacts to the cube passing over head and we the audience hear it too. So it appears that IU is reacting to the sound. Then they are inside looking around seeing the pike of clothes, then suddenly both IU and V react at the exact same time looking up to see the cube passing overhead. This reaction by both pretty well confirms that both can hear. It one or both could not hear the reaction would be much different, from no reaction to the one who coukd hear reacting and then either drawing the attention of the other to it or simply pulling the other along to find cover. And the final piece of evidence is at the end of the wedding scence IU once again reacts 1st to the cubes presences, which is the sound, and here she immediately turns and taking V's hand is pulling him with her to run away. V also sees the Cube but is slightly later than IU. Therefore, considering the use of sign language that leaves 2 possibilities. Either IU knows sign language for reasons orher than her own personal need (i.e. she has a family member who uses it or she works with people who uses etc) or she is mute. It is interesting that almost every person who picked up on the sign language immediately went to IU being deaf, which is perhaps the most common reason for people to use sign language. People who have been deaf since birth and at a extremely young age also have a difficulty speaking. But we dont know why, how or when IU became mute or when V lost sight in his eye.
I started off scoring a negative 1 if a reactor referenced the pike of clothes to BTS' Spring Day video. But I changed that, I no longer deduct a point but instead only give a point if the reference one of two other events that are in fact the influence for the BTS image and certainly much more in line with the intent of the use of the image here. I give a point for referencing the Art installation in France, because it was inspired by the historical and real life trauma of human experience, the Holocaust and extermination. Unfortunately only 2 reactors have made this connection which I personnelly find sad and concerning, thats a different subject.
Another bonus item that only 3 reactors have gotten points for is in the last scene when V falls back and IU comes up and hugs him. She taps or squeezes his chest with her fingers 3 times, to let him know she loves him.
I would love to see more IU reactions from you. All her MV's are stories with a lot to unpack as she uses metaphors, symbolism and imagery to add depth and meaning to the story. There are even explanation videos out there, sone of which do a pretty good job, especially those from DKDKTV and Tor1se (her BBIBBI explanation is the best). And she has a 4 part MV story that starts in 2011 with You & I, pick back up in 2019 with Above the Time and Blueming and finishes in 2021 with Strawberry Moon. So her MV's are worth a watch. But to see her at her absolute best is to see her live performances. To that end I have included a couple of links to some of her most iconic live performances. They are either from her channel or old enough now that they will not be blocked (content from her channel is never blocked).

IU has the studio recording session posted in her channel...she recorded this song in bad condition due to flu, quite painful to watch tbh.
Amazing that she still managed to sound perfect, and perhaps the desperation and pain she felt during recording has added even more emotion in her voice.
IU and V are proof that God has faves. They're both so insanely multi-talented, genuinely sweet, unbelievably beautiful, and so funny in the most disarming way. It's no wonder they wound up being friends. I'm so glad they connected so well so we could get this gorgeous song with V acting alongside her. It's almost like a short film more than an MV and the song is more like an OST to the MV. They both had such amazing romantic chemistry on-screen and platonic chemistry off-screen. It was super cute seeing their friendship behind the scenes. This song has been stuck in my head since it released.
Here is some extra info about the music video... Director Um Tae Hwa released a guide explaining the MV and gave 4 Key points.
First, the "cube" signified the discrimination and oppression that are prevalent in the daily lives of the main characters.
Second, the "camcorder" represents the "lens of love," an important "device" that allows us to look at the beautiful things in the world beyond the internal or external appearance of the characters.
Third, IU and BTS V became the main characters in a "survival story of a dystopian worldview of someone who cannot speak and sees the world only through his left eye." Despite the difficulty, feeling hurt and exhausted, they relied on each other despite "cube" and tried to overcome it in the end.
Fourth and last, the "wedding dress and tuxedo" symbolize the "fruit of love." At the end when they are seen rising in the air, it depicts that they are finally "free to fly away from all kinds of oppression and pressure."

Hi, you and the army would like to see a little more of V acting and he said in the Behind the scenes that he promised the army he would do it and he didn't disappoint, at the wedding they are singing "Love Letter" by the Italian musician Anthony Lazaro and it's beautiful. This work is a masterpiece and seems like a premonition of what he has to go through, because he would serve at the base in Seoul and he was the only one to be sent to the Border with North Korea, close to the conflict zone, in a unit who is known as a "knee and ankle breaker", much more cold, isolated and rigorous in her training and he will have to remain there until the end of his military service... very worried about our TaeTae... 😫😫😫
I like your ideas about the meanings of the different colors of lighting for different scenes! I had not heard that from any other reactor. I had noticed the golden scenes. With the glowing golden light from the lamps and the many figures all in black, the total effect reminded me of paintings by Rembrandt, where highlighted figures emerge from the dark surroundings. This mv gives us lots of things to notice, interpret, and even research.
I researched the pile of clothing and found the name of the French artist you were thinking of: Christian Boltanski. Over the years, he made many installation art works to prompt viewers to think about life and death. Most of his art used still photographs, but he made a few using piles of clothes. The 2010 work he did in New York City was a 40-foot tall mountain of clothes, estimated to be 6,000 pieces. Next to it was an industrial crane with a claw. It would pick up a few pieces of clothing from the floor, lift them above the pile, and drop them. Boltanski said the sight of the falling pieces felt optimistic, as it signified the form had fallen away, leaving the spirit to fly free. I think Boltanski's quote, or at least the action of the crane, inspired the last scene of the mv. The beautiful wedding clothes float down gracefully, bringing our thoughts back to beauty and to the love the two gave each other to the very end.

I don't know if you are aware, but IU was the master mind behind this project as the creator, writerand producer. She also has a wicked sense of humor because in the first page of credits, she added: Special Guest Appearance and there is an outline of the cube.

It's actually a more sad mv because it's talking about current day (the camera world), if you look carefully. It's social commentary against a dystopian background, and at least they have love, which is all that matters.
Thank you for your comments and literary reaction. This mv is getting to a wider audience for reactions. I'm just watching it over and over so I can recover from how sad it made me the first times, but now I'm noticing the reactors are far and wide in the world and not necessarily kpop reactors. At some point, I usually run into the end of the reactions, but this mv seems to have no end. Taehyun hopes to do more acting when he returns from military duty. IU starts a world tour this summer. She has been performing for 16 years, and this is her first world tour.
My interpretation is that the box is the media, society and culture… we see them through the cameras but the reality is what they actually are, hurt and struggling… the people in black is their haters (they are everywhere) they are actually taken by all the destruction (box) but; Love Wins All ❤

Correct me if I am wrong but I think IU said she wrote it for her fans. I think it is a sweet commentary of their parasocial relationship. My interpretation is IU is IU and V is Uaena (her fans). The cubes are trolls/ media. In the MV, she is deaf/mute, he is partially blind - it may seem there is no fathomable way these two can understand each other. However, whether separated by language (she cannot hear/speak) or distance (he cannot see), they communicate about sweet memories (about macron's and taking pictures) and laugh much like inside jokes between IU and her fans or photos at fan meetings. They both have scars of criticism or scandals over the years. At its end the trolls/ media come to consume another artist and fandom and discard it like a pile of clothes and IU is ready to fight but V (the fans) steps in front of her to defend her and their bond, but they are met with a bitter end. A sad reality every artist must face someday. She shields V's good eye to protect him from the inevitable. I think she understands the way it is but is happy to set out on the journey with her fans anyway. I think of her lyric "Will you courageously set with me? Destroy me slowly and chilly, ruiner"; OR this is just about her and her boyfriend, and her asking for some privacy, not sure haha.😭
