  • In this video I complete the unboxing of the new solar panel and my review of it from my personal experiences. I am a huge fan of the Tactacam Reveal Cellular Cameras and now they have brought out to the market the Tactacam External Solar Panel. This system is something that everyone should consider for their trail cameras, especially if you use the Tactacam Reveal series of trail cameras. It really extends the operation of my trail cameras minimizing the need to disturb the area where my cameras are setup. Thanks for visiting my channel and I hope that you found it useful.

    BTW Customer relations are great down to earth don't sound contacted out. And if busy they do call you back. And no I don't work for them. I am a new customer.

    The camera is cool but what type of cable lock do you use? I haven't found any that fit through the holes so I use 2 additional padlocks

      Thanks for commenting. I use master lock python cables that are keyed alike.

    Do you have any trouble with squirrels or racoons pulling the cables loose ?

      Thanks for the question. Not really. I make sure and loop/wrap up the cables and secure the bundle to minimize potential for them to pull them out.

    I just bought one, does it affect the camera when you plug it in. Do you have to reset the camera??

    • @PassionfortheWildandWonderful
      @PassionfortheWildandWonderful  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the question. No reset or anything with the camera. Just plug it in and enjoy. Set angle and facing direction for maximum sun exposure. They recommend I think pulling it and doing a charge maybe every 3 months or so proactively even if it has been keeping up.

      I own 6 of these and 6 XB cameras and love em. . I’ve had one running since last September and It’s still running at 100 percent. Also running the lithium AA batteries in all the camera.

    Will this charge the host batteries in the camera if they are rechargeable?

      Thanks for commenting. My understanding is the camera will operate off the solar panel during daytime and it’s internal lithium battery pack at night until it is depleted assuming the solar panel can’t keep up with the camera demand over time and then run off of the camera batteries. So I don’t believe it charges the internal batteries.

      No they will not charge the internal battery

    Do these work with all cameras? Or just tactacam products?

      Thanks for watching and your question. It should work with other trail cameras assuming they have the same input plug and are rated for 12 volts. I haven’t personally tried it on other brands though. Note some are rated only for 6 volts. Again thanks for watching.

      I use my 2 Tactacam Reveal Solar Panels with Muddy Mitigator cell cams. I had to get 4.0x1.7mm female to 5.5x2.1mm male adapters to get the power cord working, but it works fine and has been for 2 months now.

    Will this work in conjunction with the solar panel that comes with the tactacam SK?

    • @PassionfortheWildandWonderful
      @PassionfortheWildandWonderful  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This can replace the smaller panel that comes with the sk. They can’t both be plugged in simultaneously as they use the same plug location.

      @@PassionfortheWildandWonderful my sk just died a week ago and the camera has been at 1% for the whole week so i dont know if a leaf is on it or if it came unplugged...hopefully its one of those two scenarios or I won't be too happy!
