Jim, just found and subscribed to your channel! After a 40 year hiatus from shooting bow, I rediscovered the joy of traditional archery. You put out great information in a humble manner! Thanks for helping me along BACK into my traditional archery journey!
🌴 well I’m an old guy and I’m getting schooled , I never knew that there were so many variables in proper arrow selection, ha, all I knew was if the arrow was to short I’m not getting full draw which made it difficult to hold while aiming , and having longer arrows didn’t matter, didn’t know about arrow weights, as a young guy growing up we shot wood shaft with target points , as I got older aluminum shaft came into play but seemed expensive for a young guy with not much money, now it’s carbon fiber and more expensive, I didn’t know you could blow up a bow I thought that only happened when you over draw it or you had a lamination failure, been watching a lot of your vids and getting knowledge as well as getting enjoyment from bow construction to proper arrow length and weight, thanks 👊🏼👍🏼
Same here the only shop in my area has become a snooty , holier than thou , if you don't spend 1000 dollars on camo and 1500 dollars on a compound you're scum and they won't help you ! My camo is old real tree over 25 years old , my bow is a Bear take down 45# at my draw length of 30 3/4 " and made in the 70s I believe , I will not skimp on arrows or broad heads , carry 2 arrows with me , don't need to carry more ...not in combat and although we can take 6 deer I'm to old to wanna clean and pack out more than a small doe and only one ! My truck is old , my dog is awesome and me , I'm to old to care . Thanks Jim , stay classy
All the charts are wrong. I know my draw length, (30") I have an accurate weight scale (shows 39#) and every chart says I need 500 spine. They fly sideways and groups are 3 feet wide, left to right, at 20 yards. I use 600 spine and get 4 to 5 inch groups. I don't trust charts anymore.
Great video.Thanks.Greatings from Romania.

ALWAYS THUMBS UP!!! THANK YOU JIM!
another helpful video. Thanks Big Jim!
Thanks for watching!
Very interesting perspective on arrow selection.
You’re one of my favorites. The archery shop I go to isn’t very helpful to beginners.
They only care about compound shooters, anyway. ALL of them!
Thanks for the kind words!

What point weight and arrow length at 600 spine? Just curious
If you have to put 250 or grains up front you started with too stiff of a shaft.
