Yes the Evans' have wayyyy more stage presence but Troy and Gabi showed more raw emotion and their own kind of energy. Plus, Darbus was probably happy to get some fresh talent and a main couple that aren't siblings.

I hate to say this, but I didn't watch HSM(mostly because I thought it was a little girl's movie,), but something like this is something to convince me to watch this.
These two are actually perfect. Everything people don't like about Sharpay can be traced back to her confidence in herself, her brother, and her skill, which is by no means a bad thing. She and Ryan have beautiful chemistry on and offstage, and both have great voices and natural rhythm. They are die-hard theater kids, and aren't afraid to want to be the best, which they often are. I love these two. Yes, they have flaws, but that doesn't make them "the villain." If every character with flaws was a villain, then it would be Kelsey vs. literally everyone else. They are not bad people, and anyone who says they are probably just has a Troyella song stuck in their head.

HELLO may i please turn your attention towards the amazing symbolism in this routine LIKE I think throughout the movie Sharpay doesn't care to acknowledge her brother for anything more than his performances (As seen in a spotlight in the 2nd movie) but like (all of this is me reading too much into things idk if there's a interview on this or whatever but if ur gonna say "you're reading too far into things" below, I know, and that's why it's fun.) In the performance Sharpay is either 1 solo line ahead of Ryan, and the only time he catches up she just pushes him back This is one of the only times in the movie he's viewed in the same perspective as her, almost always being pushed to the side of the frame. This is different when she's not around, ofc And during that last part, the most obvious bit, that bop she gives him on the head pushes him further down the ladder ALSO it's much less noticable but in the album version, his voice is slightly quiter than Sharpay's whenever they sing together. like these guys knew what they were gonna do for the second movie it wasn't something that appeared out of nowhere

I think throughout the movie Sharpay doesn't care to acknowledge her brother for anything more than his performances (As seen in a spotlight in the 2nd movie) but like (all of this is me reading too much into things idk if there's a interview on this or whatever but if ur gonna say "you're reading too far into things" below, I know, and that's why it's fun.)
In the performance Sharpay is either 1 solo line ahead of Ryan, and the only time he catches up she just pushes him back
This is one of the only times in the movie he's viewed in the same perspective as her, almost always being pushed to the side of the frame. This is different when she's not around, ofc
And during that last part, the most obvious bit, that bop she gives him on the head pushes him further down the ladder
ALSO it's much less noticable but in the album version, his voice is slightly quiter than Sharpay's whenever they sing together.

It took the others 2 minutes to finish the decathalon, turn off the power, for Troy and Gabriella to walk all the way to the theatre (plus Troy having to get into his sweatsuit), and get everyone out of the gym? HSM, you may make catchy songs that get stuck in your head for ages, but seriously?
By the way, Ryan should so be higher on that ladder. Darn Sharpay and her want to be famous.

I definitely agree about Ryan's underappreciation. This song was nothing without his expressive voice and gyrations (haha).
