This may have been mentioned earlier, but you really must rinse those parts before drying. Even the slightest remnant of simple green (a degreaser) will defeat your lubricant. It doesn't take much degreaser to destroy the properties of your lube. I always rinse under warm water & do another ultrasonic with fresh clean filtered water. THEN dry the parts and reassemble and lube. Ultrasonic cleaners are great, but get all that degreaser off the parts before reassembly.
@@wokethoughts2186unfiltered water contains minerals that can deposit on the part and might be corrosive or become corrosive to either the part or the lube. not a super big deal but distilled water is like $1 at walmart per gallon and its alot better that just water straight from the tap.
You can use normal water in the tank, and put the parts in a ziplock bag with the destiled water and degreaser and submerge the ziplock in the tank, you are welcome :)
Your previous video on cleaning with the ultrasonic cleaner. You won me over so I went out and bought one. It's my favorite way of cleaning guns now. Fast and way cleaner than ever before
I have a 25 litre ultra sonic cleaner which I use for cleaning motorcycle carburettors and their small internal parts, and a good tip for cleaning very small parts is to put the parts in one of those fine mesh muslin bags that you use for laundry tablets and suspend the bag in the cleaner tank. Now I have seen this, my Colt Walker will be getting an ultra sonic bath in future.
I always rinse off the cleaning solution in a bucket of clean water before i blow them off. I also hit the slide with a heat gun and get it fairly warm to evaporate any water i may have missed.
I'd just like to add one point that I didn't see addressed in the comments and that is that the Simple Green original formula isn't the best choice for use on aluminum. It can actually etch some aluminum alloys. A better cleaner for things like aluminum frames is their Extreme Aircraft and Precision Cleaner. It's just as effective at cleaning but safe for aluminum alloys.
Dustin, how well does the ultrasonic method work on assemblies I really don't want to strip down to pins, springs, and parts? I am thinking about the bolt, and the trigger & safety, in my old Remington 582 bolt action .22 LR? The hardest part I can see is getting everything dry. I have used jury rigged tools to strip and reassemble both groups - once, ages ago. I should've left those cleaning jobs to a gunsmith with the right tools. (Stripping my Colt Pocket for this, though, will work great.)
That's my question but it sounds like this guy has done it multiple times and he hasn't mentioned it so I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe have a couple extra on hand just in case
Wouldn’t you also want to add grease to the other side of the trigger bar in the back area where it interacts with the frame or in other pieces the rail as well as lubing the top of the barrel at the front of the breach?
Why are you not reintroducing oil to the dry metal on the inside and outside of the side? You let it soak in, then wipe off the access. Especially after using Simple Green. It strips all the oils away.
@@darrengarcia4937 A buddy of mine had a Glock 22 (Gen 3 or 4) as his service/duty weapon that would show surface rust in the summer when it was humid, or when he'd sweat more often. Once I ran it through my Ultrasonic Cleaner, and treated it with Froglube, he had zero problems.
Great video! if you want better results I suggest you run a cycle of 5 min without the parts in it and just the liquids, this will degass the liquids and you will get better results after a full cycle with the parts in it :)
Sure I do it all the time. They are a little soggy and taste like gunpowder but Good😂. At least that's what I tell my coworkers when they ask and bother me while cleaning guns. They always want hamburgers and fries.
It works great for me. I think you can even get a cleaning solution made specifically for that, but I just use warm water and a little bit of Dawn dish soap with good results.
hey buddy, how are you? I have a doubt!, my ultrasonic cleaning machine is a little different! but I wanted to know if I can use kerosene with the additive to do the cleaning?
I was just wondering since this video is a year old, how that ultrasonic is holding up? I have gone through three. Two were the smaller versions you see made under Lyman and Harbor Freight brands. The other I ordered off Amazon under the Kendall brand which looked almost identical to the one you are using in this video. It died after about a year. All of these ultrasonics are made in China and just rebranded according to the wholesale purchaser. From my experienc, they just don't hold up very well. I am considering either the Ultra 1300M or Infante S6 for my next purchase, but they are considerably more expensive. So I would appreciate your feedback as to how this Vevor is holding up. THanks
You also need to hit the on button for the temperature control :) Have you tried dry lube for the block? I'm using "WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube with PTFE" for most firearms parts these days and only use grease for very high wear rate locations. The dry lube attracts less dirt with lubrication every bit as good.
Ballistol cleans, protects from moisture and keeps everything well lubricated. I clean all my firearms with ballistol and just put a couple dots of ultima lube on the barrel and rails.
They also tell you not to use reloads or lead. Hmmmm. My Glocks have seen nothing but my lead loads….no problems. Advanced Armorer? That and $6 may get you some coffee at Starbucks. A ten year-old child can change the parts in a Glock. No “Advanced Armorer” needed.
You can put water in the cleaner and put everything in a zip lock bag with your cleaner and do the same thing and not have to clean your ultrasonic cleaner.
@@Real11BangBang I would love to argue with you but those are very valid facts you pointed out....... but still say goes against the spirit of the channel overall.....

Dont want to sound rude, but if you are the only person in the room doing this video, and I assume you are, why do you need to show your viewers, all whom in no way can be harmed by watching your video, that your gun is empty and has no round chambered? Make no sense to me since it is obvious after you teat it down. Just saying....

It’s like magic!
You should get a 1851 Navy conversion, either with the cylinder, or a whole new gun. I'm thinking of getting one. Thanks!
Use a glass jar for the small parts. Glass is a much better conductor of the ultrasonic energy than plastic.

you aren’t worried about water getting stuck in the small holes in the slide ?
No, it’s easy to blow out. I’ve never had a probe with the water in any of my guns.

Look up Ed's Red and make a batch. Just strain in though a coffee filter back into a metal can when done.
