Some other bird species perform these aerial maneuvers en masse, including starlings; one can find footage of a million birds darkening the sky while flying their quick-change patterns. But I've never seen it right above the surface of the waves. Thank you, David Chamberlin, for capturing this wonderful sight.

Sanderlings are my favorite shore birds. I was watching them at Sharp Park Beach flying just like this a few days ago and it was magical. Amazing footage!

The magic of mother nature can not be denied. I loved it when they would make the turns and disappear then reappear. 😎 Thanks @David Chamberlin

I love this. I check your cameras daily and paddle out right there on occasion. I’m not much for crowded surf.

It's amazing how they don't crash into each other. 🤨🙂

No leader. No head. No one bird in charge. Yet they move as one to carry out a single goal that benefits each other. We humans simply can neither comprehend nor follow this behavior.

What happened to your live cams?? I enjoy getting that glimpse of the ocean from here in Sacramento.

This happens periodically - youtube just ends my live streams. I have never been able to figure out what causes it. Sometimes it happens after a couple days, sometimes a couple months, once I had them last for over a year. Each time they end them I have to recreate them and then update the links on pacificaview.net/ New streams are up now.
