Surfer and Whales 6/22/22 Sharp Park beach, Pacifica, CA

- A surfer sent me an email alerting me that a whale surfaced right by him and it was visible on one of my webcams. I went back and found the incident so I'm sharing with others to enjoy. I had to crop it down to 1/4 its original resolution to help focus on the action, so the quality isn't awesome, but you get the idea. The action all occurs on the right side of the video. You can first see one of the whales come up by the surface at 0:08 to the left of the surfer (as you're looking at them). One sticks a fin in the air just as the surfer catches a wave. The surfer aborts and the whales continue on at/near the surface, continuing to stick fins into the air, moving to the right of the surfer. Then at 1:05 one whale spouts and a few seconds later the second whale spouts. They continue near the surface for the next 20-30 seconds putting their fins up (an act the Gray Whales like to perform, which is often called "sharking") which you can see a little better around 1:37.
that is SOOOO COOOL... wish i was there. i keep looking out for whales, but only seen a lonely seal/otter in HMB... thank you so much and thank you to the surfer who let you know...
