Thanks for the videos! Very helpful. Currently stripping my T5 for a second makeover since I've had it (8 years). If you like travelling and have not been yet, I cannot recommend Ireland's west coast if you're into camping off the beaten track, scenery, water / surfing, walks / hiking, beers and craic (good general banter). It's advertised at the wild atlantic way. More than happy to provide a load of spots along the route if you decide to take a scoot over. Take it easy!
So the radio switch you have battery 12v to leisure battery the use the switch the change ignition power source from ignition to leisure battery? Or have I got that wrong?
What size battery have you got mate and any issues with having a swivel base as well? Wondering which battery I can have under my seat, I’ve ordered some Rusty Lee swivel bases and some people say it’s hard to get a battery under the seat with a swivel base fitted.
Calps82 hey mate click the description in the vid I put most of the links to what I used in their, I have a low height one which works fine with my rib swivel base👍
awesome content dude, really enjoying these! completed the 12v stuff a few months ago and makes a huge difference. Are you using the inverter much? in two minds about getting one
That’s great glad you like it! I use my inverter for my laptop which is usually when I’m watching a film or something if wild camping, or at a site without a hookup. They are handy, in the earlier days I was boiling my 1000w kettle from it whilst having my engine run which isn’t recommended lol, but it did seem to manage just fine. But now I’ve a gas hob I use that for boiling water, and the inverter is just for the laptop and things like blowing up beds with the electric pumps etc. Comes in handy I must say
Hi, how is the stereo wired in. Is it protected by accidentally switching it on by your panel and when ignition is turned on? i.e two feeds Thanks Van looks smart 👌🏼
Hi mate sorry the comments were not showing up on this video for some reason. Yes I wired in a 2-way switch. Middle setting disconnects power. Top setting puts it back for ignition only. Bottom setting puts it on the leisure battery. Very straight forward and I can still start the van with the stereo on the leisure battery. I'll have to do another video on this thanks
Tube Darren Hi can you do a video explaining and showing how you have done the switching of the stereo from engine battery to leisure battery. I think it would be really helpful and very popular too. Many thanks and thanks for all the great information.
Hi Kenneth, it took a bit of working out.. didn't take long for me though - I will do another vide about this explaining it. I will add links for the electrics in the description soon. Thanks
Hi Ben, I wired it up with a 2-way switch, I will do a video soon for this as just seen a load of others asking about it too and I missed all the comments on this for some reason. Will also update links in description thanks.
@@tubedarren Awesome nice one! Seems to me you wire power from the aux battery to one side and the leisure battery to another side? If you do a vid would be very interested in that not seen much about that online!
Hi Ben I pulled two cores from the stereo (as a switch to work when ignition on) and one from the leisure battery to switch the 12v. Just had to make sure I wasn’t sending 12v up the wrong way lol! Hope that helps
Great video. Can you explain/give me some information on how you wired the stereo up to use off the leisure battery? Great idea!!! 👍🏻
