With this pricing Ford is giving potential buyers more reason to buy a Fronx.
Good Point
Ford ddnt think this one through. There's no way they're selling more than 500 units of this in a year. They've essentially shot themselves in the foot. So much money for a 92kw 1l engine? The competition in that price range is intense. They got the pricing wrong and it'll most likely lose value really quickly.
Same thoughts I had, imagine buying a 1L engine is crazy its more like buying picanto and Haval jolion is cheaper than Puma, and you can even get a good second hand Ford Ranger with the price of puma
its imported here, so its much more expensive. and the reality is here in SA our cars are made cheaper to fit in our budgets, but overseas this is what they call a budget affordable car, not expensive or overpriced they call it "cheap". us here must accept the reality of the prices of true cars, not the cheap indian cars we get here. *except certain cars like the ranger*
@@phumlanidlamini4930 You can even get a brand new Ford Ranger at that price. The 1.0 engine is turbo'd so nothing like a picanto, its quicker than you think but the cars price is just dumb!
So true, the only examples we will see are the ones that belong to the Ford marketing department that they'll be driving around to try and get some attention for this horribly misplaced product. Pricing will obliterate the little interest that they'll get
@@akanimathebula810 Exactly. I think it would be cheaper if it was assembled in South Africa like the Ranger. They import this one.
A CX3 is nearly R200k less for the base model. They set the Puma up for failure
Ain't no way I am paying 500K plus for such a car.
Least impressive new release car I’ve seen to date.
The latest model kuga (2021/2022 year model)will give u a bigger car with pretty much the same technology.for R200 000 less. Look for a 1.5 diesel turbo version, the one just below the ST line version, they avg about 6 to 6.5 l per 100km on the fuel consumption, has a bigger boot and more space on the backseat, full leather, 18 inch rims. I’m surprised the puma has a manual handbrake but overall the puma looks promising.
Great review. But, I honestly think the car is overpriced for the South African market. I can't believe this price for a 1.0 3-cylinder engine. That price league has got stiff competition.
i was told the engine comes in a new car when i mentioned it as if that's not being considered in the assessment. haha!
True, the pictures and videos I have seen so far don't do as much justice to how beautiful the Puma is in person.
It is a good looking car, no doubt.
3 years too late, the facelifted version is almost complete and this is horribly overpriced for something so outdated
To add to your statement, this car has literally the same interior & engine from the discontinued 2018 ford fiesta models, yet the price is this crazy- like make it make sense 🤯
Hi whats a better option this vehicle or the Renault Captur you tested a while back ?
I happen to notice when you were talking about drive modes that you were hovering close to 3000 RPM at less than 100 KM/H. What DCT is in this car exactly ? What is the fuel consumption ?
The Interior looks exactly like my 2018 ford fiesta, its a ted bit more nicer but the layout is the same.. how old is this car??
Really you gonna ignore a R500k + Polo Gti for this😂😂
Ford did good job in this suv..lovely design and driving capability...superb
It is a great looking little car
It's also got a ford app where you can start the vehicle or schedule start like 2 or 5 minutes before you enter the vehicle so you can get the climate control already ready to work
I'd buy a cherry or a Haval over this any day
A much better buy. Chery Tiggo 4 trumps it in nearly all departments
The chinese offerings are hard to ignore
Does it come with ABS?
Automated Burn Sequence?
One of the Kuga (Cooka?) options that was not too popular in South Africa and the rest if the world.
Even the hatch that won't lock or steering wheel that falls off
Not A Ford-able
😂😂😂
I like what you did there
😂😂😂
We don't want only the STline we want ford puma ST. They are selling it in the UK.
it will probably cost R800k+
We're dying for another ST model
I'm the only noticing that the Ford Puma looks much more like the Porsche Cayenne
It's got Cayenne headlight vibes
Not for this price 😮. But what is sad is that it's been out in the UK for years now and must be ready for replacement there
I do agree with you. Always running behind the rest of the world here in SA
@@GregDennisReviews I get the impression that when sales fall off in Europe or elsewhere they have to try and flog the things elsewhere
@@michaelflinn7784exactly
Yeah I think I'll go for the Fronx or CH_R
The Fronx is incredible
Great video, very well recorded. But I cn't believe how you mentioned that price without flinching. It's too expensive when you consider the other kind of cars you cn get for this 500 - 600k price. I'd get a very well specd VW Polo life for under R450k
Thanks for the feedback! I was flinching on the inside...
Amazing thing about these type of cars is that at least half of the gadgetry never ever gets used.
But you pay for it ‼️
I'm sure it will get used, but very seldom.
It's like Chery and Haval don't exist the way they are pricing these cars.
It's a nice vehicle so long as you keep in mind the limitations of a 1L turbo engine. However at this price point which is the entry point into the Ford stable I doubt they'll sell in any great numbers.
Entry point into the Ford stable is R495k for the single cab. But this price is a bit hefty for the entry level crossover.
@@GregDennisReviews I take your point. The problem with ending production of the Focus, Fiesta, Figo and EcoSport is that they are pricing themselves out of the market. We are living in times of hyper inflation and esoteric oil and fuel prices - there is a market for an "affordable" vehicle which they no longer provide.
Same engine and same interior as my 5 year old Fiesta at more than double the price? No ways, you can get a whole brand new Ranger XL at that price!
It's giving Renualt Cleo at the back.
would never pay that much for a normal 1L 3 cylinder engine........how is it a replacement when it is too expensive than what it's replacing
that USB port in the center console doesn't have a lid, but the 12v outlet does?! It's goinbg to get dirty and/or damnamged very easily and quickly...
Why Ford would copy and paste a Datsun, is beyond me.😂
Whose the target market for this? One must be taking home well over R50k a month to afford a financed deal with a balloon payment. Only high position managers and small businesse owners are taking home that much and I don't see anyone of them driving a 1.0l 92kW self destructive engine in a mid sized cross suv. An actual fail from FordSA, alas Sandton and Northern suburbs
tannies will be flogging in on this one.
Perfect replyb
I can't side with the self-destructive comment, but i can agree with the rest for sure.
Looks like a Porsche Tucan in front and a Mazda CX5 at the back
Front reminds me of Cherry QQ
@@kalahari9558 YOH THAT'S A GOOD ONE! 😂🤣
with a market saturated with more affordable c-suvs like those boxes that toyota dumped in the market this will not do the numbers for ford at that price. the need for suvs and sense of safety that comes with them is an illusion that i hoped ford won't fall. bring back fun hatchbacks!
I'm all here for the fun hatchbacks!
Better to get a 2.0 t roc r line for that price 😊
Dear Ford South Africa. Please fire the person who was in charge of deciding the price of this vehicle. At max 250000 rand for the titanium model.
ford have really lost the plot here. fiesta vibes with lots of leather for double the price. 600k for an L gear on prnd, a manual park brake, 170nm of torque, tiny incandescent indicators. and in a shocking turn of events a corolla cross 150k cheaper has the same driver assistance tech, is bigger and shares the same performance and the engine wont blow up at 100k km
🤣🤣🤣
That much for a 1L engine that produces 91kw?
The Mazda CX-30 starts at about R 497 700 with a 2L engine that produces 121kw or the Mazda CX-3 with an entry level 2L engine that produces 115kw and pricing that starts at R397 300.
They're not beating Mazda/ Japanese or Chinese alternatives with this product.🤣
This one is for die-hard Ford fans... but that Mazda is a great car!
Here in Australia the Puma has been around for about 3 years now. I bought a Titanium Puma in 2021, and it’s hands down the best car I’ve owned in 30 years of driving. Those dissing on the 1 litre engine need to actually get out there and try it, (why form a negative opinion of it when you haven’t tried it) it has more than enough power for city and highway driving, never once have I ever felt that “I wished it had more power” even when fully loaded. It drives and handles better than everything else in its class. It has been awarded the best light SVU in Australia for 3 years in a row now.
My neighbour was so impressed with it after they saw mine, they went and bought one!!
More expensive than the Chinese newcomers? Sure, but it is a far better quality vehicle than those. Yes, I’ve been and had a look at the Havel and Chery… Definitely have no regrets buying a Puma.
On the engine part I agree with you, I have it in my Fiesta and its always been enough for me. The Puma looks like a good car but with that price in South Africa there are way better options, even the New Ford Ranger can be had around the price of the Titanium, for much less even if you go for a lesser specced one.
Wrong description
This is an epic flop from FordSA, this is basically a fiesta for double the price and it’s competitors are miles ahead with greater features at less the price, this won’t compete with Haval’s, Cherry’s, Toyota and Mazda not to even mention VW with their T-Cross.
For that price id rather take a 1.9 Dmax DC thanks. PUMA not afFORDable...
Should ve brought the hybrid
It's like a Porsche wanna be, or maybe it's just me. 😅
Looks like the cross version of the 718 mixed with a macan
Yes
It looks like an Alfa Romeo🤣 MiTo to me
So there is some degree of identity crisis for this one 😉
Nice Porche Puma
It's good looking but I'll gladly take one if they are giving it away for free or selling it at R400k-450k max. Other than that they are smoking
Wouldn't we all take something for free lol
I was a total Ford but until Ford SA dropped all the F models. Now they want to convince us to buy that thing with that baby engine? And WHEN the turbo fails, what then? You've missed the ball, now I'm looking at Honda.
The kW are ok for it's, but it needs a bit more torque. But also, the price warrants a need for more power
The engine size is a massive no
Rather buy a haval H6
That is a great car, much bigger though
I’m sorry but so much money just to have a Ford Fiesta interior ?💔. Come on, they could’ve done better.
Almost every established brands seems over priced compared to the Chinese , if brands like ford , Vw and others wants to retain market share they need to stop overpricing vehicles , over time they will suffer the most .
Ford is gonna fail so hard. We love the fiesta, focus and figo so much. This is a big fail. Too expensive for that fugly car
How Tall Are You??
Own two Fords. Will never pay that crazy price. Does not make any sense.
Looks like a young hippopotamus ... Nothing says puma about it 😂😂
Now that you mention it! 😁
There is something Porsche about it
The price?
@@kalahari9558 the headlights
570k for that instrument cluster and a 1.0l 😂
🤣
yup...
Why a Ford at R600k when Toyota at same spec and proven reliability and higher resale values..
Whoever approved this design for the face should be fired with immediate effect
Shame i don't think it's that bad.
This car will be a tough sell.
No!
It shaped like a Nissan Juke
Mazda cx3 much better buy.proper 2l engine more kw and torgue
The front looks like a marserati grecale 😢😢 then the rear end is like a cx 3 absolutely disappointing rather buy a tiggo 7 promax for the money
That is a great option
Pity about the tiny engines ! Give me 150Kw and Ill give you my money…
Well better start shopping for the Kuga ST AWD then with 177kW using the same engine as the Focus ST but detuned.
Absolutely not
😂😂😂😂😂 with that price you get a second hand Mercedes Benz C class thats still looking brand new.
Way over priced for a 1L Engine 😂 they'll soon be forced to drop the prices, this is South 90% of people are trying to stay afloat in this economy.
Interior looks so boring. Only the Chinese know how to do interiors it seems😊
Net Sandton mense sal dit betaal vir die kar. 🤣🤣
500K and up. Gaan kak!
This car is clearly not worth R600k price tag.
😢
Never 500k on a car that looks like a a reptile
😂😂
Bad pricing.
trying to oversell this car real hard....Price is just not worth it.
I went to Ford and not happy with the price, not worth it here in SA. Chinese offer better deals
The chinese have opened up our eyes to pricing
600k MSP!!
too epensive
WAY overpriced for what it offers. Exterior styling is good but interior looks plasticky like a typical Ford and uber small. The 1.0 Ecoboost engine is regarded as one of the worst for reliability of the modern era.
I love the interior, 😅 eish being a woman
Lol This Will NOT SELL🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Totally over priced right into the heavens ! Buy a T cross. Only thing I like is that smuggling hatch in the boot.
Way too expensive, too expensive. Should've been R380k going up to R570k with a bigger engine
R400k would probably be fair
600K😂😂😂😂😂
No ford is worth 500k.
should have been 450k for a top spec
Ahem... Focus RS mk3 duh
Crap. Ford SA is focussing on soccer mom's and bakkie boep crowd.
Bring back performance cars for the middle class , this country has a huge ST following . Not everyone wants or can afford a Mustang.
whatever that thing is its not a ford
😂😂😂🏃♀️
R.I.P. Ford... s#it engine...🤦🏻♂️
This reminds me of Nissan Juke very ugly 😂
Overpriced sorry ! Good luck Ford
Dismal Styling - It could be any brand, really crappy looks.
Boring design…over priced
The sunroof is not standard - forms part of the styling pack - its an option
Thanks for the update, yes it is part of the R17 500 styling pack
Overpriced and ugly. Huge failure
overpriced yes, ugly no.
