This is my most favorite film of all time.

The members there have been great friends, helped me through very difficult times in my life, make me laugh all the time, share their own lives with me and are always there to lean on. It's wonderful to know that someone I've never met, half way around the world, really cares.
Furthermore, the part of John Thornton was played to absolute perfection by Richard Armitage.
It follows the story of Margaret Hale (Daniela Denby-Ashe), a young woman from southern England who has to move to the North after her father decides to leave the clergy. The family struggles to adjust itself to the industrial town's customs, especially after meeting the Thorntons, a proud family of cotton mill owners who seem to despise their social inferiors. The story explores the issues of class and gender, as Margaret's sympathy for the town mill workers conflicts with her growing attraction to John Thornton (Richard Armitage).

It’s just different roles for different folks. Colin Firth IS Darcy. Richard Armitage IS John Thornton. The roles were both cast just right for the man.
Very well done. He is the most gorgeous man alive. I'll take him anyday over the "pretty boys" like Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and all of the others. his voice alone is enough to send me over the edge.

When he is looking back at Henry Lennox at the Crystal Exhibition he had fire in his eyes. I'm always amazed at how wonderfully he can act with his eyes.

I never saw any actor with such a passion and expressiveness and I am very happy that I can enjoy this beautiful story in this way. I feel like a teenager who first time felt in love.

I think I own almost every period drama that was ever made in the last 30 years, and still nothing compares to north and south - Jane Eyre 2006 being the second best.. You are so right about the chemistry. Got to hand a lot of credit to Sandy Welch for wonderful screen adaptation.

thank you very much for making this tribute. you have done it fantastic. i loved the book of north and south and loved this miniseries. they've become my favorite bbc miniseries so far and i'm a huge fan of bbc miniseries. but richard and daniela i think they had perfect chemistry here and did an amazing job.

Thanks. This is by far the best collation, based on North and South that I have seen. Sensible with great music and it tells the story so well. I first saw Richard on Cold Feet but he didnt register on that. North and South was where I really saw him and was transfixed. I understand that the BBC switchboard jammed when it first aired. All these women were ringning wanting to know who he was .What a GREAT ACTOR!

I suppose this is the motivation for the arts to fill the gaps in our experience and make us one with whom we chose to love. It's hard not to find great love with North and South. I took me a couple years before I would read the book. I didn't want anything to possibly spoil my fantasy with John Thornon. LOL!! But I finally did and loved it - especially the end.

jane eyre 2006 is one of my favorite tooo. sandy welch is a genious. can't wait for her new miniseries of emma. i don't own almost every period drama from the las 30 years but from the las 15 yess. and it is true nothing compares to north and south. i've seen it a thousend times and can see it again and again.

Oh my... thank you for comment and the really appreciated vote. These vids are my life saving sanity since my husband passed away. I have time and the love of period drama - it goes well with vid making. But North and South is my favorite of all time films. It was fun making this. Sorry that I ran out of the 10 minute allotment.
