Wife's car had a boot lock problem it would at times not open at all and sometimes work fine it could only be the switch or lock and it seems it was the lock.
I have a Hyundai i20 and it does not have any lever inside to manually open it. The boot refuses to open and I have no way of opening it. What should I do ?
If its the same model then there is a leaver but its behind that plastic cover. the lock has the lever on it but no access hole thats so stupid i think. So get in the car and get off that plastic cover and press the lever to open the boot if you want you can guess where the lever is and drill a hole for it thats what i plan on doing for future use. I will make an update video as it turned out to be the boot button and not the lock thats the issue. But the lock is cheaper than the button hence i got the lock first.
Im not sure where you are from but the button costs more than the locking mechanism where i lived i ended up getting a button too and that fixed the issue too. So it was a combination of a bad button and bad lock.
It's about R600ish from hyundai agents themselves. But make sure it's the lock and not the button I may have made that mistake and the button costs more than the lock...
@matrubaloveday8034 oh ok then that's the only place yes unless you got to the spare shops where they are breaking up one its crappy noone else really sells new parts for these cars when it comes to stuff like that
Good question I only realised its the button when in changed the lock and it still had the same issue. I did think about it and there is a way. You will have to remove the panel of the boot close it and if you struggling. Just go into the car and bridge the switch wire its only 2 wires so you can bridge it and the lock should open if the lock still doesn't open then the lock is the issue. But easy assumption is that the rubber deteriorates from the button once the rubber part is gone or broken its easy for it to get wet and dust in there over time and just make the button faulty. The lock seems robust so the best bet would be the button is the issue but you never know till you know. Maybe go to a second hand parts place get a button and swop it out.
Hi yusuf same problem here sir. Thanks for the help .

What is the cost of its replacement?
R700 this is the cheaper part the button is over R1000.😱
The push button has got damaged and cannot be pressed now. What will be it's replacement cost ?

Hi Yusuf, Im having the same issue also from South Africa. How would I know if its the lock or the button?
