People don't seem to realize that a lot of vegetables contain more protein by weight than meat. In fact, they don't seem to realize that vegetables have protein at all.
Also, the reason I like this channel is because it has realistic recipes. It's not an extreme lifestyle such as raw vegan or something like that. They are totally relatable recipes that look like real meals and they ARE healthy. I like that about it.

Don't listen to those negative comments, Liv. I personally find your videos really helpful and all the recipes I have tried have been a complete success even among my non-vegan family. My 14 year old sister is totally in love with your chocolate mug cake and with some of your "tuna" sandwiches; I sent the link for the chocolate mug cake to a friend and his kids are crazy about it now; even my dad has gone so far as to ask to try some of your recipes! So don't worry about some people being critical, in my household we think you rock.

I 100% agree with you on the term healthy! So many people on social media seem so obsessed with eating clean that even though the food itself may be healthy the relationship with it no longer is. Health isn't just about what you put in your body but also about how you treat yourself in general: indulging from time to time should be part of that too.. Kaylan Richardson As a vegan, it's a legitimate concern. You can easily get enough as a vegan, but you can also easily NOT get enough. It's not only about the amount you are getting, you need to make sure that you are getting all of the essential protiens, which liv for example, didn't do.

I agree. People die from heart disease not protein deficiency. There are so many essential nutrients people don't get that cause health problems yet the whole world is obsessed with fucking protein. In fact most people are eating an excessive amount of protein and think it is normal.
This is an awesome way to definitively show non-vegans and skeptics alike that the "but where do you get your protein" line isn't a factor at all. Also, I use tahini in my pasta sauce as well and it's amazing 😍
Healthfulness is holistic. All aspects of your life play into to your health, and your numbers can be amazing even with a few sweets and some "junk". Being so obsessed cause people to be mentally unhealthy which can lead to being over stressed, depressed, and panicked.

Adishree Ram that's so weird! here in the us, the only restaurants (in my experience) that always offer vegan/vegetarian options are Indian! like, if I'm in a city I don't know, I look for an Indian restaurant because I know there will be at least one thing there that I can eat.

100% agree with your definition of healthy. I have struggled with balance when it comes to diet and exercise for as long as I can remember - I've restricted calories, over exercised and under-eaten and the other way around, completely cut carbs at one stage and then after a couple of months my body couldn't take it anymore and I went on a total carb binge for weeks.. I cannot explain how much stress I have put my body through over the past few years trying to be perfectly 'healthy'. I've learned that unless you're eating everything in moderation and giving yourself variety and balance your body will always feel like it's missing something and in the long-term you will crash. I stopped eating meat just over a year ago and have cut most of my dairy now and am aiming to be fully vegan by the end of this year :) Thank you Liv for all your help and for encouraging a balanced cruelty-free lifestyle!
I agree 100% with your definition of healthy. I love your channel because you keep your meals balanced and add veggies, protein and good stuff but not every ingredient or recipe you include is the the most healthy thing in the world and I think that's perfecty fine and realistic. You are doing great and what anyone else thinks makes no difference whatsoever. People getting hung up on protein drives me crazy. No one has EVER been treated for a protein deficiency. Because you don't need an insane amount of protein and plants have what you need. So don't even listen to anyone. I LOVE the foods you show because it is a great balance. it is like almost impossible to not get enough protein it is good that you show this in your video! I mean so much people still ask me if I get enough protein. but there are also documentaries where nutritionists say that it is hard to get enough protein as a vegan (it always shocks me) but I also love your definition of healthy. I don't see any problems with eating something unhealthy from time to time either. but also I feel like most youtubers want to hide the unhealthy food at youtube... or maybe I just can't imagine that some people really eat just Healthy hclf oilfreee glutenfree sugar free....
6:50 This is exactly why I love your channel. I am newly vegetarian, and I have suffered from an eating disorder for most of my life. I started bingeing and purging at 12, I would skip meals long before that when I was around 7 or 8, and try to survive off of low calorie liquids. I got better temporarily when I was 16/17, but I relapsed. It's now a decade later, and I have continued to struggle off and on with restricting, bingeing/purging, etc. I will gain 30lbs seemingly overnight and lose it just as quickly. Recently, I found out that I have a spinal condition that isn't helped by having excess weight. I was already on my 10th day of a fast. I was upset because I wanted to over exercise, I wanted to speed things up, but that would only make things worse. Additionally, when I did eat, I never felt good. I always felt overly full no matter how much I ate, if I was eating meat. I constantly felt bloated. That wasn't helping things at all. I decided I would try to become vegetarian again (I was when I had gotten better at 16/17, and I remember feeling great and losing weight), because that way I can eat healthier, lose weight, and hopefully get better again and have less pressure on my spine. One thing I can't do is be obsessed with food or weight. The second it begins, I have to find a way to stop it or I want to fast or exercise hard. The pain I've felt from the pressure on my spine is one of the worst things I've ever felt, so I can't obsess, but I do want to eat healthy and have a healthy, realistic mindset. That's what i was taught when I went to an eating disorder facility as well. I love your channel. If I want a cookie or something occasionally, I just replace something else that I would have eaten that day and it's no big deal. And I don't have to go to the store and buy even worse things to satisfy a craving like that. Demonizing food is a disordered behavior. Please always stay true to yourself and your channel. As I've learned in recovery, obsessing over your food and weight may leave you with a healthier body than average, but it won't leave you with a healthy mind. Both of those things are important to me, and you're right, once in a while a snack won't hurt you. Your channel has helped me learn that. Also, I've lost 18lbs since changing my diet :)
When learning about nutrition and taking classes for my major, one of the eating disorders posted on our worksheets were people who obsess over eating extremely healthy. I learned that you should always have a good relationship with food and that is one of the big rules in nutrition. You make healthy dishes but also add fun food to eat in moderation and that is exactly what having a good relationship with food is all about. I have been trying A LOT of your recipes since I've found your channel, though I'm vegetarian, not vegan. It has been a pleasure, truly. 😊

Your definition of healthy is exactly how it should be! It's annoying how no matter what a vegan cooks, they'll always get disapproving comments about protein and nutrients or they'll get disapproving comments about eating junk food- you can't win! As long as you're physically doing your body no harm and so long as you're happy, who is anyone else to define what makes us healthy? Keep doing what you're doing, I adore your recipes and just you as a person!!

As someone with an eating disorder, that's what life is about for me, balance. Feeling guilty about the food I eat is the worst thing that could happen to me. yummm that pasta looks good, would never think to add tahini! and your message at the end is so important. a lot of people come to plant based veganism from eating disorders which works for a lot of people, but when youtubers are promoting this obsessive healthy eating, it actually looks a lot like orthorexia and having that obsessive mentality towards food is ironically unhealthy. food should be good for your body but it should also make you happy and i love the baked goods you have on your channel because vegans are deprived from getting that kind of thing from the store. thank you Liv!

You are doing great and what anyone else thinks makes no difference whatsoever. People getting hung up on protein drives me crazy. No one has EVER been treated for a protein deficiency. Because you don't need an insane amount of protein and plants have what you need. So don't even listen to anyone. I LOVE the foods you show because it is a great balance. Life doesn't have to be without treats. Anyone that has a problem with that is ridiculous. They just simply don't need to make your recipe if they don't want to. Keep doing you and don't change! ❤️❤️

Why I like your channel is beacause you seem to put a lot of love into what you do. It becomes "right" no matter if you can prove protein content or not. It feels balanced and healthy when you look at it. I'm not a vegan but I really enjoy your recipes. There artistry there! Keep on shinig!

I am newly vegetarian, and I have suffered from an eating disorder for most of my life. I started bingeing and purging at 12, I would skip meals long before that when I was around 7 or 8, and try to survive off of low calorie liquids.
I got better temporarily when I was 16/17, but I relapsed. It's now a decade later, and I have continued to struggle off and on with restricting, bingeing/purging, etc. I will gain 30lbs seemingly overnight and lose it just as quickly.
Recently, I found out that I have a spinal condition that isn't helped by having excess weight. I was already on my 10th day of a fast. I was upset because I wanted to over exercise, I wanted to speed things up, but that would only make things worse.
Additionally, when I did eat, I never felt good. I always felt overly full no matter how much I ate, if I was eating meat. I constantly felt bloated. That wasn't helping things at all.
I decided I would try to become vegetarian again (I was when I had gotten better at 16/17, and I remember feeling great and losing weight), because that way I can eat healthier, lose weight, and hopefully get better again and have less pressure on my spine.
One thing I can't do is be obsessed with food or weight. The second it begins, I have to find a way to stop it or I want to fast or exercise hard. The pain I've felt from the pressure on my spine is one of the worst things I've ever felt, so I can't obsess, but I do want to eat healthy and have a healthy, realistic mindset. That's what i was taught when I went to an eating disorder facility as well.
I love your channel. If I want a cookie or something occasionally, I just replace something else that I would have eaten that day and it's no big deal. And I don't have to go to the store and buy even worse things to satisfy a craving like that. Demonizing food is a disordered behavior.
Please always stay true to yourself and your channel. As I've learned in recovery, obsessing over your food and weight may leave you with a healthier body than average, but it won't leave you with a healthy mind. Both of those things are important to me, and you're right, once in a while a snack won't hurt you. Your channel has helped me learn that.
Also, I've lost 18lbs since changing my diet :)
When learning about nutrition and taking classes for my major, one of the eating disorders posted on our worksheets were people who obsess over eating extremely healthy. I learned that you should always have a good relationship with food and that is one of the big rules in nutrition. You make healthy dishes but also add fun food to eat in moderation and that is exactly what having a good relationship with food is all about. I have been trying A LOT of your recipes since I've found your channel, though I'm vegetarian, not vegan. It has been a pleasure, truly. 😊
This is why I like your channel. It has a variety and it has balance with FLAVOR and easy ideas that are not hard to maintain. I am not even vegan and I have already tried a few things that I like.

I absolutely love your channel and your recipes. I don't understand how people can be so negative...they just shouldn't watch if they don't agree with it. People need to respect other people's lifestyles and opinions and be more open minded. You're totally right that people are obsessed with the whole healthy thing. Healthy is about enjoying your life and being happy and cooking more and eating out less and eating less junk food! It's all about enjoying the food you make and sharing it with friends and family. I hardly ever eat cookies even before going plant based and your videos on desserts 🍨 are AMAZING! So delicious and I actually made a batch of the chocolate chip cookies 🍪 from one of your videos and I was BLOWN AWAY! Not only were they delicious, but so so so easy to make!!! My non plant based/vegan family absolutely loved them and were amazed at the taste and how fast I made them! Thank you for always bringing such wonderful options and varieties of foods! Your definition of healthy is exactly how it should be! It's annoying how no matter what a vegan cooks, they'll always get disapproving comments about protein and nutrients or they'll get disapproving comments about eating junk food- you can't win! As long as you're physically doing your body no harm and so long as you're happy, who is anyone else to define what makes us healthy? Keep doing what you're doing, I adore your recipes and just you as a person!!

Couldn't agree more with your philosophy on what "healthy" means. One cookie or one time of eating out isn't going to derail a healthy lifestyle, just like one clean meal isn't going to create one. It's about what you do most of the time.
I agree 100% with you Liv, "healthy" is living a balanced lifestyle where you primarily eat healthy, whole foods AND can enjoy a dessert or decadent snack made from wholesome ingredients occasionally as well...i feel the people who left comments like that on yr "sweeter" videos are probably struggling with finding balance themselves & probably have a hard time practicing restraint, or they might even have control issues, which isn't healthy...you're doing an amazing job on yr channel, i love all of yr videos and believe full-heartedly that yr name for yr channel is perfect :)

I think the word "healthy" can be quite restricting, which is why I love your channel. You keep a balance that's not just good for the body, but also the mind. As someone with an eating disorder, that's what life is about for me, balance. Feeling guilty about the food I eat is the worst thing that could happen to me. yummm that pasta looks good, would never think to add tahini! and your message at the end is so important. a lot of people come to plant based veganism from eating disorders which works for a lot of people, but when youtubers are promoting this obsessive healthy eating, it actually looks a lot like orthorexia and having that obsessive mentality towards food is ironically unhealthy. food should be good for your body but it should also make you happy and i love the baked goods you have on your channel because vegans are deprived from getting that kind of thing from the store. thank you Liv!
