    • @exnihilo415
      @exnihilo415 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nah. Trans women can’t legally marry their husbands in Thailand. They can’t legally adopt. They can’t change their legal gender. There is exceedingly weak discrimination law. It’s a legal black hole for LGBT people in Thailand. I’ve been waiting the better part of 20 years to legally marry my Thai transgender wife in Thailand. Thailand has a very long way to go for actual acceptance. Tolerance, sure. Acceptance, no.

    • @iPaulLee
      @iPaulLee  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

      True. But it definitely has the perception of having the most trans people per capita. I actually just looked it up: In a 2021 survey of 27 of the world's most LGBTQI+-friendly countries, Germany and Sweden tied as the countries with the highest rate of people who are transgender and transgender acceptance.

    • @exnihilo415
      @exnihilo415 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@iPaulLee No one that has spent any actual time in Thailand, Germany and Sweden would believe that survey. The reality is that no one is quantifying exactly what a trans person is and thus it’s open to cultural interpretation and vastly skewed numbers. Tons of western generation Z kids see themselves as outside the gender binary or gender non-conforming and thus transgender in a way that is alien to Thai people. It’s not actually measuring the same thing and the physical steps they take extend to fashion choices and hair dye. Thailand doesn’t even have its own good LGBT population surveys, let alone comparing them internationally on equal terms.

      Imagine If someone hit you every single day. Since the day you were born. Over and over and over. At School. At Home.Even in your own mind. In TV shows. And then finally one day someone hits you just a tiny little very very small bit and YOU SCREAMMM. Waving your arms everywhere at hitting them back. Would you think of that as an overreaction or finally standing up for yourself?
      Chinni has been fighting for herself (I understand there is no best translation for Thai pronouns into English) because she has had support. Though I am the first to cringe at small things like labels and pronouns in the LGBT I have learned to not so blankly judge them. There is simply more to the story.

    The 'if you are attracted to Chinni then you must be gay!' schtick is so utterly asinine.
    If a gay man is watching this video then which of the two people sitting on this sofa is he more likely to be physically attracted to? The person on the right who looks and presents like a handsome biological male or the person on the left who looks and presents like a very pretty girl?
    Because spoiler alert, gay men typically aren't get all hot under the collar by someone who looks like Chinni.
    And if you tell them - I know she looks like a stunning woman and yes she does have boobs, but good news for you - there's a penis in the mix, I don't think they'll suddenly be like "ok NOW I'm physically attracted to this person🙄
    The reason you're attracted to someone who looks like an ultra feminine Thai model is because you're heterosexual. Its going to initial response of any guy whose into beautiful woman.
    Then of course when you tell them its not actually a biological woman at all they freak out ! "That's disgusting, I'm not into that! Its wrong! If you fancy her you must be gay!"
    Because they fancy her of course and they're massively freaked out by it.
    People need to just chill out.
    It doesn't make you gay ( not that's a bad thing anyway) if you think Chinni is gorgeous. Relax, you're still just as heterosexual as you were five minutes ago.
    Ask Chinni if the men she dates are homosexual, if its men who've had previous boyfriends that are chasing after her and I guarantee you the answer is no.

      It's the culture, notice how she doesn't try to convince you that she's a "real woman" like how the people from the LGBTQIWIAI+ communities in the west & America. Many people like myself would have no problem calling a ladyboy "her/she" out of politeness and respect, but when you're screaming "YOU GOTTO CALL ME BY THIS PRONOUN OR THAT PRONOUN", rest assure I will call you by your biological pronouns because I don't need to respect people who has zero respect for others.

    Firstly, this was an excellent interview Paul, Thank You. This is a very complex subject that can leave one scratching their head when they get back home after visiting Thailand. A holiday there does screw your head up, Thais are warm friendly social people, the Ladyboys are very feminine, funny, great company, caring, and a good laugh - and very good looking. The majority of Western women pale into insignificance to be honest - they have in affect just become more and more masculine! Thai Women are also very feminine, funny, caring, good laugh, etc. So when you get back home, its reality time! You see women walking around in Jeans & Shirts no make up, short cropped hair, angry, confrontational, quite happy to have a fist fight on a night out, independent because its their right as they don't need men & can do everything! . Disclaimer - Women in business and rights in work places should 100 percent be equal to men, im referring to their femininity - Not Their rights.

      Social acceptance yes but not legal acceptance. Thailand is a legal black hole for LGBT rights. My Thai trans wife and I have been waiting for 20 years to be able to get legally married in Thailand. We couldn’t legally adopt in Thailand either. Discrimination law is incredibly weak in Thailand, there is no public accommodation law, et al. for these reasons we live in California and not Thailand where there is both social acceptance and legal acceptance. Happy to answer any other questions you have. We have a lifetime of experience with this topic.

    What chinni is saying is she is still biologically a male not female never will be that does not matter though she chooses to live as a woman with hormones ect. I've got so much respect that's she's not a virtue signaling person that tries bullying people with woke speech. She's a lovely person who respects gentic females and anybody can see she's beautiful. No wonder her family love her. She's fantastic.
