    Made the mistake of spraying weeds that were growing in DORMANT Bermuda grass in the wintertime with Glyphosate and in the following Spring, had a huge, completely dead spot in the middle of my lawn. It took almost all the next summer to get that spot to fill back in with grass. Bermuda Grass Central KNOWS what he's talking about.👍

    Ha! I’m having a similar problem here in the Midwest.
    My neighbor and I helped a recently divorced single mother and cut her overgrown front lawn as she did her thing. Unfortunately for us , “ no good deed comes unpunished”.
    Now I have that dreaded weed, alpha grass Bermuda, popping up in my cool season lawn.
    My annual routine now involves killing weed and replanting cool season grass.
    It’s a struggle but awesome to have a GREEN lawn all Fall and Winter.
    If I get tired of the battle I may join the inevitable flow and over seed with rye for a green lawn during the cool weather.

    I went through this two years ago, I bought some st Augustine sod and it was loaded with Dallas grass. So I sprayed a generic glysophate, then tilled the soil and pulled it all up and put in all new soil and new sod. It was the only thing that worked in my st Augustine. It is all over my neighborhood and people just keep mowing and spreading it. Drives me crazy.

  • @Halcyon1861
    @Halcyon1861 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Take a wooden Dow or something that's long and wrap a sponge on the end and use tape to secure it. Give a little douse with a herbicide. I use spectracide crab grass killer. Its important to let the weeds get tall enough to be able to dab the leaves. Not out of control or anything. I cut my Bermuda at 1 inch in the summer so when I see the weeds coming, I might not mow when i would and let the grasses like out a bit. I actually just did this 4 days ago. I just checked it and then saw your video. All of the weeds are dead and tan. Within one day you will see the leaves turning purple that's how effective it is. Now you will need to refresh your sponge every so often and you will get some on your grass. I have zero kill off on the bermuda. Just dab on the leaves enough to push the weeds to the ground and go.

I did this exact thing in my lawn for a couple of seasons and you see my lawn. Spraying it once won’t get it all. Not cheap but MSMA 6 Plus is what you need to be using to kill this out of your grass. I keep a qt. spray bottle of mix on the ready and hit those areas when they pop up, haven't had any in my yard for a couple years now. I now treat the neighbors around me. Downside it only comes in a 2.5 gal jug and cost $130, but enough to last a lifetime.

      Terrible advice. MSMA is a restricted use herbicide, not to be used in residential turf applications. It contains an arsenic component known to be toxic to humans and to contaminate water sources. Read the label before making dangerous recommendations.

    I was out looking at my disasterous backyard. The spots that are saturated with dying and new sprouting crabgrass is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I was pulling it until I started watching you. I am looking at putting down the pre emergence and blanketing it with Quali-Pro Quinclorac 75 DF Oct 1. What do I do with all the dead stalks? Everything says to get that dug out but won't that effect the pre emergent? I'm thinking it's something I'm going to just have to live with until it snows and I can't see it. I mean it's a carpet of nasty weeds. Some look dead AF but if you pull one it is still green. I want to put the pre E down and spray it same day. My cats are going to have to be inside and it's going to be hell. The one corner that is very thin but ok, I have been pulling baby crabgrass all spring and summer. I haven't put anything there because the majority of the time the cats are laying in that corner. The squirrels hang out there too. I'm nervous about the chemicals and the cats but can't have a yard like this. I guess all I am asking is do I let the dead weeds just disintegrate over the winter. Thanks so much. You are on loop.
