  • I show you how to kill crabgrass fast in this video and you can see the results for yourself. Crabgrass is a terrible annual weed that can take over an entire lawn. A timely applied pre emergent herbicide is an excellent way to control crabgrass in the lawn without killing the lawn. This type of application done before crabgrass germinates. I use a product called prodiamine for that purpose such as this one. (affiliate link: amzn.to/3xFPA2y ). Once the crabgrass has germinated, I would recommend a post emergent product which contains quinclorac. Here is an example. (affiliate link: amzn.to/3VL3EzP)

    I got a little bit of this in my St Augustine but my main problem is sedge and kyllinga. I hit them with sedgehammer and it did a nice job. It’s been about a month and I’m going to apply again just to clear out any new ones but overall I’m impressed how well it did.

      Sledgehammer is typically great on nutsedge but not kyllinga in my experience. I am doing a sedge video soon

    Jason, can these products in this video be used on cool season turf? If not, What's your recommendation for treating crabgrass in a cool season turf?

    What do you do with Johnson Grass? I'm in the DFW area and we have problems with Johnson Grass which will take over a lawn in a BIG hurry.

    I am a bit confused. In the beginning of your video, the three products were prodiamine, Quinclorac, and dimension, but you didn't test dimension, but instead the Dismiss NXT. Did I miss something? Dimension is Dithiopyr, right? Any thoughts on Tenacity?

    We use resolute in AZ twice per year. Today truck said temp was 118, and we only get a few morning freezes.

      My crabgrass is seemingly at its very best here in Atlanta 08/13/24. Should I kill it no or wait to do it closer to the time I plan to reseed some fescue and annual rye in late September? Any thought? Thanks.

    The Qball sitting in the tank for 5 months is not really different than a pre mixed product you buy off the shelf. There’s no telling how long it’s been since it was put in that container.

    Anything I can use to kill crabgrass in st Aug. I did prodiamine in early spring, seems like knocked out the majority of it. I’m hand pulling them it as I see it. Blend in to st Aug a bit more than others.know I can wait until next season. Any advice? Thank you

    I don’t suppose there’s a crabgrass post-emergent safe for both centipede and zoysia? centipede does not tolerate quiclorac as far as i know. everything i have found is labeled either for zoysia/bermuda or st. aug/centipede. but not both.
    My neighbor’s crabgrass is invading my centipede on the north side of the house, and my other neighbor’s crabgrass is invading my zoysia on the south side of the house. 😢 I’m tempted to give them both a free prodiamine treatment next winter.

    Hi Jason, I live in Hoover and several yards in my neighborhood is getting hit with some kind of fungus. My lawn guy called it "large patch." You seeing any of this in trussville? Do you have any recommended products for treatment?

    • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Heritage is a popular fungicide. It's's hard for me to imagine you having large patch at this time... especially since it's been so hot and dry. I would make sure that it's not just a dry spot in the yard. Or possibly dollar spot which is small brown spots all over the yard.

      Just go to a big box store and look for products with the same active ingredient. They are not as effective as professional product, but they do work by using multiple applications. If you have a large property say greater than 10k sqft you’re better off buying the professional stuff. Most of the big box store’s products are labeled to treat 5K sqft.
